  1. Blame the Region IV schools, not the VHSL. They chose to put 12 teams in the playoffs (Div. 3 & 4) in a region with only 16 teams. What did they expect to happen? And by my count, there will be 4 other Region IV schools in the playoffs with losing records. Why don't I hear anyone complaining about those teams? Does anyone believe that Abingdon and Marion deserve to be in the playoffs?
  2. Martinsville and Magna Vista would be about equal to Cave Spring/Hidden Valley for CC. Tunstall would be quite a bit farther. The average trip for CC in the River Ridge (53 miles per Google maps) would be shorter than the average trip in the Piedmont (60 miles). Just for comparison, CC's average trip in the Southwest is 85 miles.
  3. Thank yourselves; because Abingdon is the one that didn't sign the contract, choosing to play J.I. Burton instead.
  4. 07 Amherst County 00 Pulaski County Half
  5. Why can't you post these in the score updates like everyone else?
  6. 37 Northside 21 Cave Spring Final
  7. 43 Pulaski County 42 Patrick Henry (Roanoke) Final 3OT
  8. Pulaski County 22 Patrick Henry 15 end of 3rd Cave Spring 14 Northside 14 half Salem 14 Franklin Co. 7 half
  9. Pulaski County did not back out on Abingdon. There was a verbal agreement between the two schools but when it came time to sign the contract Abingdon didn't. They had scheduled J.I. Burton instead. Pulaski County was left hunting for another game. Pulaski County would've loved an easier non-district game. Amherst Co., Radford, Northside, Wm. Fleming and Patrick Henry are all better than Abingdon, by AT LEAST two touchdowns. It's good that you guys want to upgrade your schedule, but all of the teams you mentioned would be automatic losses for Abingdon.
  10. Didn't we go over this a couple of years ago? PC had a verbal agreement to play Abingdon, but when it came time to ink the contract, Abingdon didn't sign it. They scheduled J.I. Burton instead. PC was left trying to find a tenth game into the following spring. Look at our non-district schedule from last year (Radford, Amherst, Northside, Wm. Fleming, and PH-Roanoke) and tell me Abingdon is better than any of those teams. Just in case you're a little slow, that's 2 AAA schools, the Division 4 runner-up, the Division 3 champion, and the Division 2 runner-up. http://www.swvasports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13216&referrerid=190
  11. Pure speculation. Consider the source (those of you who remember 82nd know what I mean). It's so late, PC doesn't have much choice but to promote from within, at least for the 2010 season. Beyond that, who knows?
  12. Christiansburg won the Region IV Division 4 title in 1988.
  13. 14 Pulaski County 19 Salem Half 03 Christiansburg 06 Blacksburg Half
