  1. Sasq, I had No Clue, Zero Clue you would predict a tie on this one!
  2. I'm reminded sometimes not even on the day after, but "in the evening of.'
  3. It was one of the most alarming stats regarding turnovers in the last 10 years for me related to outcome of the game. It would be no big deal if Duke had 2 or 3 turnovers of their own. Duke had ZERO. Zero turnovers. One thing that did propel SMU was their offense which had 469 total yards to Dukes 393. Without those 6 turnovers SMU would have been approaching 600 yards of total offense. It's overwhelmingly low odds that when you have 2 teams that close in quality of play/overall talent, a 6-0 turnover margin nearly always gives the W to the team that had 0. It's one thing if it's Georgia vs Savannah St and Georgia has 6 turnovers to Savannah States zero and Georgia still wins fairly easily. Unheard for two teams that have no major or giant disparity in talent and coaching for the 6 turnovers team to win.
  4. What's likely..... At the state title basketball game, the two football coaches or the 2 ADs run into each other and strike up a conversation.
  5. I'm going to go 50-50 on JM showing up. There's something about not so great teams having a quick trigger to cancel when 3 conditions are present. 1. The traveling team is not a football culture school and is not that great or has no real chance to do anything in the playoffs. 2. it's late in the year. 3. it's a long long way. Whether it's 'not enough players due to injury" or "illness," something tells me it's 50-50 on JM coming. If they do, VH by 24 points. I am Not saying JM will not show up. I Am saying don't be surprised if they cancel in the next few days.
  6. Off the top of my head, I'm guessing VA High will likely finish 5th unless Gatr City upsets Ridgeview, then GC may jump them. Big game for Graham and Union fans (I'm guessing, don't know for sure) with GC vs Ridgeview as to who likely gets VH and for Union, they could get VH in round 1 if VH finishes 6th. I don't do power points, but guessing that GC could jump VH and get the 5th spot with an upset over Ridgeview. Otherwise good chance of a Graham vs Va High matchup in round 2 assuming Ridgeview beats GC. Purely postulating about the above. Someone can clarify if opinion above is wrong about Lebanon, VH, GC seeding at 4, 5, 6.
  7. I'm curious because of VH and the way they are playing football in Bristol. Who are the unfortunate souls in round 1 and/or 2 that gets to tangle with them? Graham and Union ain't "sceeeered" of nobody from a players and coaches perspective, but if I'm a Union or Graham fan and most on this board are fans only and not players or coaches, so approaching it from a fans perspective, I'm thinking "to hell with VH : let somebody else play em."
  8. Anyone have stats for this game? Total yards, turnovers, etc?
  9. Wow so it was Lebanons kid with 21 catches not VHs. Thanks for correcting. When glancing through thread, I thought it was VHs kid. Either way, sick accomplishment
  10. I give Graham and Union the advantage but with the way VH is playing ball and improved, I'm not so sure Graham and/or Union are automatic locks to win it. VH gave Graham one heck of a game the first time and if Graham and/or Union doesn't bring a top performance, the Bearcats could be Region Champs.
  11. I was one of those that did and when wrong, I say I am wrong and don't make excuses. I was wrong. Great win by VH who has really seemed to flip the switch and improving at a remarkable rate. For the kid with 21 catches in a football game? That's ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous and congrats is in order for him. Two records by local swva boys set in the past week or so with Creasey the all time VHSL pass completion total and 21 catches in a game by the young man for VH.
  12. Correct
  13. No need to. The best QB in the coverage area is a guy who can literally chuck it 100 yds, he is highly under utilized, and unfortunately, his coach rarely let's him play. If the coach let him play, his team Would win a state championship. The QB simply goes by, "Rico."
  14. Favor Union at home for sure, but again we're talking about a team in Abingdon (Claas 3) with a bit more talent and depth and size than the normal run of the mill Class 2 school, and they did win over Christiansburg. That talent, depth, and size has not shown the quality of play on the field as Union has, but it is still a threat and has the ability to show up for one game. Abingdon can win this football game. If Union gets a few holding penalties and plays flat and brings its C or B- game and Abingdon brings its A game, Abingdon can win. Union 27, Abingdon 14
  15. Right on!
  16. We blame the coaches way to much, especially a couple of poopy flavored Giles fans on this board. There's never enough blame placed on the kids because we don't want "to offend them and hurt their self esteem." Tazewell last night was a 50-50 mix of not so good coaching and again, I talked about this 2 weeks ago, ZERO emotion from the kids. It's not just the coach that motivates kids. Your senior leadership on the team is heavily responsible for this (same applies to Giles). The Defensive Line for Tazewell is too big, too strong, and too athletic for Giles to push them around like that and they were zombies. Just no emotion in my opinion.
  17. Got one right with Radford and got one way wrong with Giles, but happy to be wrong.
  18. Sometimes, a team just needs a win to hit the ignition switch which starts the turning point. All of a sudden one win is the starting point to change the culture. I'm not saying the win tonight for Richlands is that start of the turning point, but it possibly could be. It doesn't matter how down the opponent is. Just the mentality of winning/having a win can possibly flip that switch. Congrats Blues
  19. I couldn't believe it. "Damn it, this has to stop with Creasy in the 4th qtr! We can not let Tazewell win this game" said...The Tazewell Coaches. Seriously though, I was dumbfounded as to why Tazewell seemingly kept Tazewell's QB out of the game in the 4th qtr/underutilized completely. My thought process was like someone just throwing 100 dollar bills at me and saying, "do these bills hurt when they hit you in the head." My response was "YES, they really hurt, keep em coming." What was NOT related to Tazewell coaching was Giles ability to run the ball. That surprised me a bit. I knew we would move it some, but not run the ball that well. That is what gave us a chance late in the game. We killed lots of clock and shortened the game and lessened Tazewells possessions as best we could and incredibly, Tazewell seemingly never went fast. Slow and letting the playback wind to 10 seconds or less seemingly all game. I couldn't believe it. If you are Tazewell, you want to hurry and go fast and maximize your offensive possessions. Tazewell did the Exact Opposite and the "hundred dollar bills" kept hitting me in the face.
  20. Draft curbstomps Riverheada 42-14
  21. So proud of the Spartsns. Trevor played like a madman. Running and tackling and pass defense by TR was top notch
  22. Bandana Bunch! It's party time in dirty Mirty!!!
  23. Just rolled into Bennettsville 20 minutes ago. Had no clue it was cancelled. Now racing back to Myrtle Beach to watch the Bandana Bunch on the Big Screen through NFHS. Go Lions. Huge win for Loris. Take the forfeit
