  1. I think you have to declare it (Forfeit or cancelation) at the time and you cant go back and change it once you make the decision. At least that's what I've heard.
  2. I might be wrong again like I said I thought Radford would beat Glenvar by 14. I think Galax wins by at least a TD. This game is not only a rivalry but plays big into playoff seating. Because of that I see Galax being used to this situation and Grayson playing tight for a while allowing Galax to get a jump start early. I also think last week we saw where the weaker schedule came into play for Grayson; hitting big plays all year with little QB pressure and then boom a defense who got after the QB leading to some misthrows. I know GW beat Galax, but I think GW laid the blue print for Galax on how to beat Grayson. Galax takes that film and adjusts to have even a better game plan. Like I said Friday night I might be completely wrong. Just my 2 cents
  3. To address yalls point with Graham not getting the PP; I do believe Galax, GW, and others have the option to either take a forfeit or take a cancellation (dividing by 1 game less) soooooooo, you could make the argument that Galax, GW, Giles are screwing Graham out of points, but it works out for them in the long run taking the cancellation. IF they take the 16 points for the win and add it into their total which their averages are over 16 it hurts them so they are all going to take it as a cancel.
  4. Easy now, Grayson was 9-0 going into game 10 with Galax and got beat, finished the year 10-2 in 2011, then in 2012 went 9-3, and have since been around .500. Dont think 1 random year puts them in that category yet; they were 4-6 last year.
  5. I think Auburn needs to do like several other schools have done throughout the state and thats play an independent schedule. I know that means they dont qualify for playoffs, but at this point does it really matter. Create a schedule that has 10 competitive football games on it, build up some confidence in the kids and program, and if in several years things are improving join back in the MED. Yes, playing the JV schedule to finish out the year seems great but will that really change their attitude next year when it comes time to play Galax, George Wythe, Grayson, Giles, etc? They had double digit upper classman on the team at the start of the season and now are down to a couple. Now that its happened 2 years in a row.....its becoming the norm.
  6. Yeah I would take Radford by at least 2 TDs also. Wake up call last week from Floyd gets them focus. Glenvar on the other hand is big up front, but hasn't been able to run the football, the QB has thrown lots of picks, and I dont think they have near enough speed to match up with Radford. I think Radford's D line gives Glenvar fits and forces QB to make poor throws leading to stopped drives and INTs.
  7. You got it; players that really want to play are there and coaches and schools know what they got from day 1. This weeds out those "on the fence" players and guys who are recruited to make enough to have a team at the start of the season and then pack it up when it gets hard or another season starts getting close and they'd rather go do that. Its a way better situation to say from Day 1 "we dont have enough" to compete this season; allowing opponent schools to pick-up games early VS. week 7 or 8 on a Tuesday canceling the season or just going week by week to see if you got enough.
  8. Schools need to make the rule that if you quit (just to quit) during one season you are not eligible to participate in the next sports season. I'm not talking about injuries or other outside issues that could cause a player to need to stop playing....I'm saying because you just don't want to play because: "its cold," "we cant beat (insert team)," "I don't like it anymore." This is 2 years in a row for AHS; they are screwing over a lot of district and non-district teams.
  9. I doubt this years Giles team jumps on that game; they've been beat up a little and still some very physical games left. I'd say they probably just take an extra bye week to get prepared and healthy. It would be fun to see.
  10. "IF" that is an actual rule.....its dumb. Ive been to many games where on 3rd or 4th down the announcers try and get the crowd up and loud. You can call it "home field advantage" if you want but oh well, let it be. I've seen a many visiting crowds get loud on 3rd and 4th downs also without an announcer getting them going. How is it any different than cow bells and train horns. Seems that the head coach was just looking for something to complain about and the officials gave into to him.
  11. Well scratch that just read where Jacob Phillips is returning to Bath Co. Excellent hire for the program and school.
  12. Other than Castlewood, nothing out of Parry McCluer and I think Bath Co. is still open.

    Bland Co.

Is Hayes one of the assistants that quit in the middle of last season? Not bashing, sometimes things happen, but a strange hire to give it to someone that quit on the program in the middle of a season.

    Bland Co.

Anyone heard if Bland has hired a new coach? The program made it back most of the season last year after being off for a year....and now the head job is open again. If they want the program to survive and not be year to year they would put some effort into finding someone and find them very soon.
  15. I heard Chris Akers is going to coach both Union and Ridgeview, Union would practice 3 to 5 and Ridgeview 5:30 to 7:30 next fall and they would alternate playing on Friday nights and Saturday nights…lol
  16. Ive read Campbell is very interested in the ND job.
  17. VT has waited too long....with ND and Oklahoma open; VT is number 3 on the list. They claim they want to win a Championship....that "ship" cost money and a quick move when the job opens; cant wait around for these other jobs to open. One name I never hear getting thrown around for HC jobs is Clemson DC Brent Venables (well I just read heads a top guy for OK). You don't always have to go after an offensive guy or QB whisperer.
  18. The Holston over PM "prediction" I think is way off. Holston is very quick; however vs PM would be way undersized; as crazy as it sounds I think Holston matches up better with Galax than PM. I do think Galax has enough to beat PM but, Galax needs to get up early and not allow PM to control the tempo or it will stay close....That being said Holston has had a great year that shouldnt be overlooked but I dont see them being able to beat the winner of C.....Just like I don't see anyone in C or D or A playing with RH.
  19. These playoff match-up discussion are starting to drag on and the 2 threads about firing a coach and starting a petition….well ummm yeah not a fan of either topic; seems like nitpicking to me. Just thought we’d switch gears a little something fresh lol. I’m not a VT fan, nor UVA fan, I do think UVA has had a better season and most will pick them to win, but, but if there’s a team that plays down and figures out a team to lose a game it’s UVA. VT guys always figure out a way to get that 6th win and make a bowl game (even though there’s way too many bowl games; yet more football=AWESOME). I think a lot are saying it’ll be a high scoring shoot out, I see it the opposite for some reason; VT-24, UVA-17. The VT coaching search on the other hand is a make or break moment for AD; I think he’s on thin ice and this is his last chance to save his job. That being said I don’t think the VT job is that desirable for a big name guy. I know several names are being thrown around, Billy Napier (Louisiana), Jamey Chadwell (Coastal Carolina), Dave Clawson (Wake Forest), Hugh Freeze (Liberty). There’s more to the list but those seem to be the top guys. I think there should be a hire in the next week or so; part of the reason they let Fu go so soon. What’s everyone’s thought here?
  20. Aye 🤣, now there’s a classic and so far the #1 post on this laughable topic thread.
  21. Yes…it’s miserable past 20 mins
  22. redtiger....I hope you are right; this spread crap makes my head hurt, I can somewhat stomach it at the varsity level but seeing Parks & Rec teams and MS teams doing it drives me crazy...a kid gets to Varsity and they cant take a snap under center, the lineman only know how to stand-up and pass block, defenders dropping back into coverage instead of playing down hill, tackling is bad because everything is so spread out; just all around painful to watch. I know Salem, Riverheads, Appo, Union; they all have big kids and great numbers but they've also developed physical football teams through their scheme and as a season wears on they start punishing teams. Kids are also starting to get worn down by the post season, the weather changes, the football get cold, slick, and hard as a rock, field conditions and weather start to play into games. Teams who can get under center hand the ball off and get a push up front and to the second level have the greatest advantage this time of year.
  23. Don’t worry guys I got it…..where’s Chris Akers going now…VT?
  24. Ummmm Patrick Henry G.S. is 68-23 since 2014 on.....they aren't named Galax and are 1A West. (You asked) But I understand what you are saying and would say there are ZERO schools where its all skittles and rainbows; there is always going to be a small few he will never be happy no matter what he does at GW. I don't know him personally nor have a student-athlete at GW but from a football fan I just never understand why every year people are always wanting him gone when you never hear of anything that merits his firing....Once again no one ever throws out a name that could replace him and do as good of job....Nick Saben isn't coming to Wytheville.
  25. If you are saying “eye level” meaning the defense is just watching RBs and reacting from their movement then you will be in for a long night….you better be reading the big uglys up front, they will take you to the ball. You watch the backfield and your head will be spinning. I will be crushed on here for this but, “No body has a QB under center anymore” is the reason football is worse now than it’s ever been. Everybody thinks they are a spread team, chuck it 60 times a game; yet they can’t pick up a 4th and 1 because they are taking a snap at 4+ yards deep in gun so basically it’s a 4th and 5. The best teams that make it deep; with exception of a few (Riverheads) can get under center and run the ball; look at Salem year in and year out, nothing fancy just down hill football.
