Can't imagine attending a game with so few fans. Has to take some of the fun out of it.
It does. I really miss the atmosphere back home. There are only about 3-4 places from here to Miami that have a decent atmosphere. Vero Beach comes the closest to matching a SWVA atmosphere with their band, crowd and train horn. That Said, it's nice watching late October and November football in a tee shirt, shorts and sandals. 🤔 That, and there are a lot of nice athletes in most games we go to. Everybody down here has guys who can run.
It's an 8 PM kickoff here in The Fort with the Fort Pierce Westwood Panthers hosting the Okeechobee Brahmans. Both are 3-1 and it's a big district game with 200+ fans...🙄🙄
Great to see Twin Springs (as well as The Cove) having success this year, but they're out of their league in more ways than one in this game. Union by 30+
Based solely on what people have said about Union's special teams play, I'll go with no. Even the team with a senior James Mitchell was undone by special teams play against Appomattox as it cost them 17 points in a 3 (IIRC) point loss.
Watched THE Benjamin School from West Palm Beach take on Jensen Beach last night in a battle of undefeated, top 5 teams in their divisions in front of a crowd of 500 or so. THE Benjamin School had two 4 star kids, including a RB committed to UGA , 3 star OT headed to UCF and a 3 star WR headed to Wake Forest. THE Benjamin School won 24-0 in a game that took 1 hour and 49 minutes to complete. In old time Tom Turner fashion, TBS kept the football for over 10 minutes in the first quarter and Jensen ran only 22 plays for the entire game.
I think you are discounting that both of those sports have morphed into travel, camps and year round training as well. I bet that there is almost zero cross over for the All-Region/All-State soccer kids and football. Same with lacrosse...those dudes are hunting scholarships. Baseball is the worst of them all in demanding year-round development. Its so bad that if your kid is only playing from March to June, they not only are behind...they are almost not safe on the field.
Soccer is popular here, but how many of those kids would be playing football anyway? I'm guessing not many. As for lacrosse, Some of the public schools have a team, but it's mostly a private/prep school deal here. I can't recall driving by any of the sports complexes here and seeing lacrosse being played.

It's the best local school mascot, with the Fort Pierce Central Cobras coming in 2nd and the Palm Beach Central Broncos in 3rd.
