  1. This is just from memory so don't hang me if I'm wrong. One of the Lee county schools that consolidated won a single A division 1 state title in thier last year and then consolidated to be Lee the next (Can't remember which one, too lazy to look it up). Lebanan Definately played the state semis at Haysi in '91. Biggest crowd in Haysi history at the time.

  2. I watched a girls basketball team walk into a restaurant about a year ago. Every single one of them were looking down at their phones and one girl literally walked into a street sign. That was hilarious but I started thinking how sad it was that these kids weren't interacting at all. Remembering how much fun my friends and I had going to eat after the game. How hard we laughed with each other. These kids don't even know that the best moments of their lives are passing them by while they look down.

  3. In regards to Ridgeview, there is definitely a talent gap right now between us and the rest of our competition. Everybody who knew Dickenson county football knew this was coming, although maybe not to this extent. I have some issues with coaching but try not to say too much. I definitely don't scream at them from the stands. I know most of you have heard it's not about the X's and O's it's about the Jimmy's and Joe's. In other words talent wise you can't bring a switch to a knife fight every Friday and expect to win. There is a brighter future if it all the kids don't quit before we can get there.

  4. No earlier than 6th grade. I actually liked to wait till 7th or 8th. Early on is technique and strengthening the shoulder girdle and core. I taught my own kids technique early and they were strong early. It didn't effect anything with growth or injury, but I wouldn't advise just anybody to do that. Weight doesn't matter. Weight will come. Just my 2 cents.

  5. Just for the record it was the Clintwood fans that were just ripping Coach Mullins in the stands last year. This year everybody seems fed up. The offensive formation has opened up but the play calling still leaves you scratching your head. No Haysi homerism here, I am just sick of losing.

  6. Had one son graguate from Ridgeview last year and still have one playing so I try not to say too much....But my god we're hard to watch. It just seems like the Clintwood coaches who call the plays have no idea how to get the ball to an athlete out in space. This year is better than last year though, so I guess that's a positive. It just sucks watching RV play. The home games have no atmosphere, nobody cares. The only thing good about the away games is trying to find a decent place to eat while you're out. Shouldn't say this I guess but I did so there. (deep breath)

  7. I think the key for Eastside is to get their athletes out. Seems like their best athletes always play basketball/baseball but not football. From a numbers perspective the Cumberland should be theirs easily I think.

Norton - they'll be Norton. They know their system. They just graduated a LOT, plus Savon Wadsworth transferred.

TS - Who knows. Lost some talent. Switching offenses. No football tradition to build upon. Could see a very good season or an abysmal one.

RC - not happening this year. Not even close.

CW - All hinges on the Woods kid. Not sure if he is even playing, but talk is cheap.

TW - No idea. Seemed to come on at end of last season. Did Coomer leave voluntarily? If so, don't see that happening if they had something to build upon.

Where did Wadsworth transfer too? Just curious.

  8. These things are sometimes ridiculous, always at least a few questionable picks. Not to take anything from Harris but the kid from PH is good. He at least belongs in the conversation. I have seen much worse picks. hope the 2a comes out soon.
