  1. Good Luck to all our SWVA football teams this week. Lets go out and show the rest of the state that state championships run through SWVA. Go Get Em Boys!!!
  2. Ok lets hear everyones views on this 3A West matchup.
  3. Im pretty sure those are the very "keys to win" in every game Ive seen or been involved with. The one thing you may have left out was "Win one for the Gipper". Just kidding. I really do want to see a great game, played by some outstanding athletes. Lets hope that nobody is injured and both teams make a deep playoff run.
  4. I was going to fire back with a sharp little quip but I have thought better and realize I should adhere to the old saying "If you can't say anything nice, dont say anything at all" But, I will ask this. NAME 'EM, Thats right Name 'EM, Name the players AHS POACHED from PH.
  5. Well lets think about this for a second and look at this with the eye test. PH might very well beat up on the likes of Castlewood, Rye Cove, John Battle, and Twin Springs. Now they jumped in the ring with Rural Retreat and you seen what happened. Side note: WASNT PRETTY. Now if they seem to think that those wins versus non powerhouse teams is preparing them for what they are about to expierence with the likes of GW. Well thats just delusional. They might've gotten better since they played their benifit game with the Falcons back in August. But from what i seen at that game, PH has along way to go to be competitive. I know it was a benifit game. Basically a glorified scrimmage. But Abingdon beat em like a drum on a rainy, sloppy field. In closing I would say GW wins this one by halftime and gets playing time for their subs. As for the comment about the best running back in the state? I think there are some 1A backs that might have something to say about that. Not to mention there is several 2A and 3A running backs that are probably better. The kid from Graham is the real deal. Probably the best running back I've seen in the past few years.
  6. Union could give their starters the week off and send the JV team to play. From the sound of things this one wont even be close from the time the Bears pull ini the parking lot
  7. He is a junior. D1 schools cant contact him if i remember correctly. That would be a recruiting violation. He can attend junior camps and such. I dont believe they can directly recruit him till he is a senior? I may be wrong though. He can unofficially visit any school he wants. But I believe he has to wait till senior year to make official visits.
  8. I believe he was at like 1366 yds not counting the 440 yds he put up this past Friday in the first half against VHS and possibly 18-20 TD's. he has to be over 500 yds rushing, (might be less) with 5-6 rushing TD's. We will have a more accurate count when the paper comes out Friday. I know he and Ashbury are neck and neck in the stats.
  9. Well. I guess that covered that. Enough said Jake Sturgill 440+ yds passing in one half. Ummm yep this kid is the real deal.
  10. I dont think so. Pheobus is the #1 ranked 3A team in the state and their "wins by opponents" resume is NOT that much better than Abingdon's. Combined total wins for teams Pheobus has played is 11. Whereas Abingdon is sitting on 9. So there shouldnt be that much difference in rider points per say. Now Pheobus does play alot of 5A and 4A schools. So there again is why Abingdons geographic location being a 3A school and having to play with 2A and 1A schools come back to bite them. Personally, I feel like Abingdon should be a 2A school to fit better into the regeion. I'm not sure Abingdon could go unbeaten and garner enough points to even break the top 5 based on schedule and rider points.
  11. Thanks for the clarification guys. But even still, if the Falcons win out based on the points system it doesnt appear they can get much higher in the 3A state rankings than 10th. Based on who they play. The only team left on the schedule with winning record is Richlands. I guess it is what it is. I know this, There has been alot of 3A coaches that have been seen scouting the Falcons at Falcon Field in recent weeks. So I guess it says alot if a coach is going to drive 3-5 hours to watch a regular season game live.
  12. Not much chatter this week on this game. Is it the calm before the storm? Or is it that VHS hasn't recovered from the GC game.
  13. 1 Abingdon 2 Union 3 Richlands 4 Pulaski 5 J I Burton 6 Giles 7 George Wythe 8 Bluefield 9 Radford 10 James Monroe
  14. Nope! As good of a rivalry as it is Richlands doesnt give AHS anymore help in points as it would if AHS had played Union. It is basically because RHS is AA. Whis isnt near as bad as the lack of points you get for playing the single A schools. Reality is that Blacksburg and Christiansburg, being 3A count more. Now if Richlands beats the Falcons it definitely helps their case in points for winning against a 3A school. Someone correct me if Im wrong, but the only way AHS breaks into the top 5 in any year would be to drop all the 2A and 1A schools off its schedule and travel 2, 3, or 4 hours to play strictly 3A and 4A schools. We all know that isn't going to be reality. It certainly isnt optimal being the only 3A in SWVA. As someone said, It would definitely suck if you happend to be a 1 loss team and still didnt get a home playoff game. But if we have to run the table, so be it.
  15. Right now the AHS Falcons can hold thier own with any team. They have a balanced attack and a strong belief in themselves. AHS is averaging 45 points per game which is only 1 point behind what Richlands is averaging.
