  1. Be sure and pay homage at the statue in town. I think I am going to leave in tribute a dozen moth ball at the foot of the statue. https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/mothman-statue-in-point-pleasant-wv.833975/
  2. Yep. Always with the best of intentions. I can attest to this with 21 years of experience of working at the Social Security Administration. Every time they passed legislation to put a finger on one perceived hole they created a real hole.
  3. Can someone tell me the first name of the kicker for Ridgeview? His last name is listed as Goodman.
  4. Trying to find a decent box score for the Bluefield - Ridgeview game. Also want to find newspaper issues that contain a season preview for Ridgeview and an issue with a game story from the Ridgeview paper. Perhaps the Coalfield Progress if they exist. I collect these for all Bluefield opponents and they eventually appear in the Bluefield section of my fourseasonsfootball site. Any help or guidance is appreciated.
  5. High School sports do not exist to be a minor league for colleges. We do not pay taxes to support high school athletics in order for someone to find a way to avoid paying for a college education. It is great if a student does get to go to college because of sports but you are putting the cart before the horse if you are sacrificing your high school experiences for a college career that may or may not exist.
  6. it is 9:45 Tuesday morning and the VHSL still hasn't posted a finished list of where and when each playoff game is going to be.
  7. Perhaps he means point wise. Give only 3 different base points instead of 6 but then divide out by 6 classes for the playoffs???
  8. Tazewell and Graham are combined schools. They each took part of Pocahontas.
  9. I think Tarter has done a pretty good job. Rough start for sure but Richlands has steadily improved thru the year. Very few coaches have done as much as he has with as little as he has to work with this year. Hasn't lost to anyone that he was supposed to beat and he has won twice when he was supposed to lose. I know it isn't a popular sentiment but I think he should be Region coach of the year.
  10. As a lower seed Bluefield is 17-11 in playoff history. As the higher seed they are 47-9. They are 42-4 at home in the playoffs. They are 10-6 on the road in the playoffs. They are 12-10 at neutral sites in the playoffs.
  11. If there is there are about 33 qualified posters on this site.
  12. Based on what I just saw Va High had a 22.90 and Union a 22.50. So if you take away the welfare points they both would have had a 22.10. Central would have also had a 22.10 if you take away their 4 welfare points.
  13. Union got 4 welfare points. Va High got 8. Wonder if the extra 4 welfare points would have changed who got the highest rating?
  14. AA is way down. Anything is possible but Bluefield should win. Maybe even comfortably. Now PP is well coached but they just don't have the athletes. Unless they use the Mothman! The only team they played that is athletic is Greenbrier East. Happens to be the only game that they lost.
  15. There is no "home" team in WV. All games are neutral in theory. WVSSAC pays all workers and pays and assigns all officials. Higher seed gets to choose where (as long as the field is pre certified) and lower seed gets to choose when from three dates and times. There are no banners. No home passes. And when I am the P. A. Announcer for Bluefield I have to be neutral.
  16. Princeton at Spring Valley of Huntington Friday at 7:30.
  17. Trinity Christian of Morgantown at James Monroe Saturday at 7:30.
  18. Away team gets to decide the day and if it is Saturday they get to pick between two times. 1:30 or 7:30.
  19. Bluefield is playing Saturday at 1:30 at Point Pleasant. Come early. See the Mothman!
  20. Just asked Coach Palmer. Graham is playing Lee.
  21. Oddly enough Welch has hosted playoff games before before at the old stadium. In 1979 Iaeger hosted Man at Welch and lost 7-21. In 1994 Big Creek hosted Paden City and Big Creek won 25-0. Mount View was AAA. Mount View was never able to host because the WVSSAC stadium standards were not met at the time Mount View would have hosted.
  22. Crocket has historically been very bad but they have had some good years lately. I does look like they are slipping back into their old ways but I think that they are still better than Richlands at this point. DC 35 Richlands 21
