  1. Wheeling also gets the local businesses to give complementary meals and reduced accommodations. Charleston could care less to do the things to attract the games. They were in Charleston until 1994.
  2. The city of Wheeling makes them an offer that they can't refuse. Basically they give the WVSSAC everything and they give a gate guarantee. Bluefield bid on it several times but couldn't beat the Wheeling bid. So the WVSSAC doesn't really care how far Bluefield is from Wheeling. They do pay for all travel and hotels for the team. They get the meals donated by local restaurants. They do a good job. The only drawback is the travel from the southern part of the state.
  3. I actually think WVMetronews will show them live. They did last year and it's free.
  4. The level of broadcast of Bluefield and Graham broadcasts have been absolutely pitiful this year. What can we do to make sure this doesn't happen again?
  5. In 1929 Graham was referred to as the "Panthers". In 1931 through 1934 they were the "Bears". The first reference to G-Men is in 1935.
  6. I do P.A. at Bluefield games. Come by anytime. Bluefield gave you more points this year than any 2A school that you lost to except Union and that was the same. Both schools were 10-0.
  7. The only school that would not play due to the perception of officiating was Richlands. I understand the officials in 2002 were very rude and made calls Richlands didn't like. We chose to schedule those games because our own local WV schools would not play. Since then other schools farther away in WV will play and it is not a problem.
  8. Retired VHSL officials. The explanation was a mix up and the approved crew couldn't show. Bluefield player was ejected during an extra point.
  9. This from a school that did not have qualified officials show up at the last game vs. Bluefield and called their retired friends in to officiate. Ejecting a player for cursing when he was kicked in the groin. Clean your own house before pointing fingers.
  10. When there is on/off ramps with limited access they are allowed to increase the speed limits. Goes for all of Virginia but the decisions are made locally. Heck the town of Tazewell raised many of the city speed limits from 25 to 30 and from 35 to 40.
  11. It is now 65 in stretches in Tazewell County and 60 in most of the others. Except for Claypool Hill of course.
  12. Maybe google is considering the more lenient speed limits along rt 19 and a regular vehicle.
  13. This is my favorite thread of all time!
  14. I hate the new VHSL site. Have they posted the dates, times and locations of the 2nd round games for all classes?
  15. I have confirmed that Pikeview replaces Man on the schedule for the Beavers. Apparently due to pressure from the county. Pikeview and Bluefield played six games from 1995-2000. Bluefield coasted to wins in all six. 1995 30-0 1996 38-0 1997 34-0 1998 33-12 1999 48-16 2000 39-3
  16. So Graham gets two points for Giles beating a lower classification school such as Narrows? And Graham gets a point from the Bluefield game for losing to Bluefield? I can see why they would get 9 points but not the 10th. And Graham "only" gets 2 points for Giles beating a higher classification team such as Christiansburg?
  17. How does the Virginia point system work? Inquiring minds want to know.
