  1. I'm not sure myself, although the BHC folks treated Galax's victory over Chilhowie not too long ago as a HUGE upset in their words.
  2. Nope... Honaker fans save it for my Facebook timeline! Lol. In all seriousness though, 99.75% of the Union people I've interacted with this year since the birth of Ridgeview have been great. If you were at the Arby's Classic this year, you would know that Sullivan East fans are the absolute worst.
  3. Thanks for this. This is very interesting. This has me now wanting to see Tazewell's gym. Is there a chart for this for football stadiums as well? Last week I saw a SC Top 10 play from NJIT, which is a D1 school. I guarantee from what I saw, the top 10 on this list... probably seat more than NJIT. Lol. Their gym looked almost Virginia Intermont-esque, if that can be possible! This Whitewood gym also sounds like it could be similar to VI also.
  4. I have gotten along with most all Union fans this year, so didn't mean any disrespect to you by stating that Ridgeview girls were better. This GamedayInMountainDistrict cat however... doesn't see reality very well. Just saying. Lol. Most schools nowadays are heading the direction of the two gym formats for JV and Varsity, I guess because parents took to Twitter and complained about kids getting back so late during a mid week super (the example that comes to mind off the top of my head is John Battle getting back from Lee High midweek at like 2 am on a school night, I think.)... Off the top of my head, I can name us, Gate City, Virginia High and Northwood off the top of my head.
  5. Going to be kinda hard for your varsity girls to win the regular season championship when we only have two games left we could possibly lose and have two losses up in the loss column in the bank on Union and won both games over Union in the regular season (THREE counting UVA-Wise tournament), so no tiebreaker for you. Lol. That being said... anybody beating Gate City helps us clinch even faster... so go Lady Bears, I guess? Lol.
  6. Galax, no matter the sport, is the team that just shocks people come down to the end of the season in stuff. Ask Essex and Riverheads this year in football, ask Radford last year in basketball. The regional basketball playoffs are still 8 teams, correct?
  7. It's a nice gym for sure. Not sure what you've heard about it, but if you've heard it's a carbon copy of Virginia High, then it's definitely not. That's what I was told going in for the first time and I was disappointed when I found out it wasn't. Lol.
  8. Agreed. I think my favorite gym in SWVa is probably Castlewood. It's just so unique.
  9. Dude, I like you and all, but if you guys still play in that middle school gym, that is one of the WORST gyms in SWVa... Lol.
  10. Yes. Very shocked myself. If you would have said we'd be undefeated in conference play at this point of the season, I would have laughed at you. If we get past Central on Wednesday, that all but locks up the regular season championship right there, with only Gate City looming as a potential loss to close out the season. Two things, however: 1. I wasn't there, so I can't comment, but, I have been told that we struggled mightily the last two games against Grundy and Twin Valley. In the Twin Valley game especially, we had to come from seven down midway through the fourth to pull out the win. 2. When we played Gate City the first time, a key player for them was out. Not sure if she has returned as of yet, but I'm sure that made some of a difference in the first meeting.
  11. I'm voting for him... hate me at your own peril. Lol.
  12. This isn't round trip, right? If so, Parry McCluer probably broke 600 miles on that round trip to Hurley and back alone... Lol.
  13. Ridgeview's games with Central were pushed back to February 3. Not sure about the Ridgeview or Central girls in that showcase in Kentucky scheduled for tomorrow.
  14. If we win the regular season in the conference, I'm not going to even worry about the conference tournament... Lol. That automatic region bid will have been locked up by then. I wished in the basketball schedules threads on this forum, it had the courthouse conference also. I tried to do a little research on MaxPreps on who was good over there, and it looks like Chatham girls are pretty decent.
  15. I went to every Ridgeview football game this past season, but once Giles eliminated us, I found somewhere else to go every week up through the championship games. I went to Richlands - Buckingham County, Union - Glenvar, George Wythe - Riverheads and the two title games in Salem. I wished I could do the same for basketball, but working in Abingdon and trying to make it back to Dickenson County mid week is kinda difficult.
  16. I think Central is all but out of the title race now with last night's loss to Union. They're completely out of it if we beat them again Friday night (weather permitting). We still have Central, Union and GC one more time so it's still up for grabs. Also we are scheduled to play Knott County, Kentucky Saturday in a showcase at Pikeville.
  17. Lmao! Someone channeled their inner Stephen Niece?
  18. Yeah... the old juvenile in me and my buddies used to taunt the Rye Cove fans, calling them the broomstickers... I regret that now looking back...
  19. How many conference losses does Union have, just the one to us? I know we have at least a two game lead atop the conference over Central and Gate City which is huge!
  20. I based mine off the fact that Eastside picked up two wins in the Florida tournament (have no idea what the competition was like in that tournament, but feel it was probably at least somewhat decent), and the narrow two point win by Graham over what has been discussed here as as a very mediocre at best Marion team.
  21. As far as Ratliff goes (the big guy)... he befuddles me sometimes... he puts up good numbers offensively but it's like his defense and offensive rebounding are terrible. When you have a guy 6'8", you should never give up one game winning putback, let alone two on back to back nights. I realize Gavin of Union is a big guy as well... but the photo I saw of that winning shot last week, Ratliff was nowhere in the picture to box out.
  22. Yeah, I said Hunter would have had to have 40 or more for Ridgeview to even have a shot and he didn't get even close to 20 I don't think... When he's off like he was last night, bad things happen for Ridgeview. We should finally get that first conference boys victory Friday night against Central... but that's why they play the game...
