Nobody really legitimately thought Ridgeview was going to win the district man... I thought their ceiling was third. But, I doubt they'll even get that now. They're probably fourth best team in the district. I thought they were pretty even with Gate City, but after last night, it's clear Gate City is better than the Pack.

A lot of local papers in the area reference the MaxPreps poll when talking about the top public high schools in the country... I have never liked MaxPreps, so surely this site has to be better than them.

I saw Chapmanville in person earlier this year in Kingsport at the Alpha Invitational. I think they're the ones who beat Poca last year. Not sure how good Poca is, but they'll be hard pressed to beat Chapmanville again this year. Chapmanville looked real good, took current TSSAA 4A #2 Morristown East down to the wire and also played Greeneville good as well.

I used to work in a gas station off of exit 19 about 15 years ago. I had a customer from Pennsylvania come in one night and ask me... "Is this town really called A Big Dong?" He was dead serious. I laughed my hind end off.

As I've said all along... I think they'll split with Gate City and finish tied for third.

Tunstall and Martinsville did as well. The game was ended 12 seconds early after a student section charged the court... not sure which one.

I saw Moravian Prep against Dobyns-Bennett back in November. They waxed us like 96-50 if I recall. They're incredibly talented.

Wise Central is now 0-2 in district play after losing to Gate City Saturday night.

Pretty sure if you're ejected for fighting, you get the next three games off as well. I believe that was the case in the Castlewood and Honaker fight a couple of weeks ago.

Wise Central and Gate City had a brawl in their boys game tonight. Three Central players and one GC player were tossed.

Luke Owens has resigned from Wise Central per Tim Hayes of the BHC according to Twitter.

I saw where Virginia High AD Brad Harper tweeted out the other day about the Prep showcase returning to Virginia High later this season. Usually Oak Hill is in that.

We're (D-B) not top 10 overall I believe, but probably in that 11-15 range. Now if they're talking about 4A, then yes, D-B is definitely top 10 and maybe top 5. Where did MaxPreps have Morristown East and Bearden ranked out of curiosity?

Ridgeview is no match for Union but should be right there with Gate City on getting that 2 seed in Region 2D out of the M7. Ridgeview has three quality wins over Letcher Central, Hancock County and Virginia High. The other 7 wins are over pretty poor competition.

Yes won Arby's and state same year.

Um... Maybe Bearden is that much better. They are the 4A favorites to be cutting down the nets in Murfreesboro after all.

All I'll say is it's the Urspring rule. Those who have watched the tournament for a long time will know what I'm talking about. East Hamilton decided to go on home after losing to Tennessee High earlier today, so West Ridge will now play Twin Springs on Friday in the 11:30 consolation game.

Volunteer vs Abingdon at 10 am Friday has been added as an extra game. I have my reasons as to why this occurred but will keep them to myself...

One of the better Arby's games of all time. And I've seen a lot of them over the last 21 years now. There's always a hidden gem somewhere in the morning session games. Volunteer trailed 57-50 with a minute left. Scored 8 straight over the next 40 seconds to lead 58-57. Three lead changes over the final 20 seconds. Angry Mike Poe. Jenkins and Lovelace had to be separated. Two technicals. Good intense thrilling basketball game. Volunteer will be a sleeper come playoff time. They caught Greeneville napping early in the season when the Devils were still trying to get the football players in basketball shape. Greeneville probably wins the rematch later down the road when and if it happens though. They're a heavy favorite to repeat this year even though they moved up in class. Union has Bearden tomorrow and will get flattened. Bearden is the 4A favorite to win it all.

This. All day. UNLESS it's Testerman's crew (female ref who worked Volunteer and Union) Her and the other two on that crew make Steve Honaker look like the best ref of all time.
