More than I expected.

You might be surprised. I got to play for Colley in the first ever FCA All-Star game at Va High in 09. He has since ran into me on vacation. He and his wife were staying at the same place I was staying and he remembered who I was and talked to me throughout the week. Funny right? I dont complain about about throwing the football. I love throwing the ball in the right situations. I’m a huge fan of running multiple sets with a balanced attack. I cut my teeth on the T and Power-I and love it. But I don’t mind the hurry up Gun/Pistol RPO either. Nothing more lethal than a team that can go power then hit you with some gun for 2 quick plays then power you again. But whatever.

Great man. I’d take him.

Went as I expected. Give them the trophy. It’s all but over.

Still have Dean as well. Heard great things about both’s offseason. Ready to get it started.

Big congrats to GC Senior Ervin who signed with Wofford today. Glad it’s out of the way for him. Time to defend that title!

Doubt that. I hate DB! I’d support him and hope things turn out better than the last one. I’ll give anyone their fair chance. As I did Akers, but it doesn’t take me long to be able to judge if a coach is a good fit or if he knows what he is doing. I’ll support the man, whoever it may be. Until given reason not to. The lack of respect for the kids and the assistants along with their opinions on things during games or during practice did it for me. I had a close connection that played for Akers, I heard things he said and did that I lost ALL respect for him. People can say what they want about Akers and blah blah. But I believe this kid and his close friends I got to talk with about him. We need someone who the kids are going to buy into and respect. That’s gotta be the first order of business. 1) Respect the pride and tradition 2) Establish discipline 3) Believe in the kids 4) TEACH football 5) Be very involved in the LL program and promote it different ways, social media, trips with varsity players/coaches, cheerleaders and even the mascot to the elementary schools to convince kids to play, make the uniforms “COOL” so kids want to play. Make it worth playing. Give everyone a bunch of time to sign up. Stop the stacking of teams, that I hear has been happening. Make winning the season have a reward, get rid of the “participation trophy”. 6) Be the man you want the kids to grow up to be. Respect and trust the players and your assistant coaches. And you’ll earn yours. And bonus 7) Trash the ugly uniforms Akers wasted money on and get some blue helmets. LED scoreboard and hire someone to pressure wash the stadium and paint! It looks awful! i don’t expect much...

I’m sure for the kids to lift at the school as a team they have to wait for the dead period to expire. Some kids probably lift and things on their own, no problem. Some kids probably don’t have access to a weight room other than the one at the school. And if there is a dead period, you’re just SOL. Unless you take Advance P.E. as a class which is highly recommended to all the student athletes.

Mac looked pretty good tonight. Once he finds his shot he will be just fine. This Freshman class could be special for G’Town. Hopefully Mac finds his shot soon. Luckily, he can drive the hole and still get double digits. Took G’town a couple of minutes to weather the storm by Illinois but they settled down. Mac was just Mac again tonight.

I don’t want to rush it. I am sure they will take applications up until the 1st of the year. Also, I’m not sure what the rules are with coach led workouts are nowadays while the playoffs are going on. I haven’t seen much movement at the fieldhouse the few week day evenings I have drove by. But even if they don’t hire someone and we are free to have organized after school weight lifting/conditioning, Reed would easily lead that until someone (or himself) is named. Reed is the guy who needs to lead the strength and conditioning program again anyways. He was always evolving and finding new ways to make everyone bigger, faster, stronger. Not sure who the guy is gonna be, but I’d let Coach Reed run with it if I were him. Unless that guy is a connoisseur in that department.

Just want the right guy. Why hire someone with a 4-7 head coaching record? He hasn’t proved anything. You roll the dice when you hire a guy like that, a lot like the Akers hire and here we are 3 years and 24 losses later. Why would someone go spend money to get a degree and take a coaching job for it just to be pay cut?

Never heard of him until he took the Eastside job. Looks like he was at Union for 4 years, coached line-backers at UVA-WISE, and coached at Appy. What am I missing? Something there supposed to wow me?

They were CD champs in 2017, he wasn’t able to help them retain that title.

He went 4-7. It would be like hiring Akers again. He’s probably wishing he didn’t leave from under the wing of Turner.

Soooo what are you going to blame DB’s 4-6 record this season on? They have Colobro... What about that 0-10 season Colobro had in 2010 at Sullivan East? Yes Colobro was a good coach, but to take credit away from Reed for a team that he was the Head Coach of is foolish. Like I’ve said, a good head coach will surround himself with other good coaches. The key is to have a good staff. The teams players change, kids graduate and others fill their spot. Records vary due to that as well, didn’t Abingdon have to replace a lot of starters from the 2016 season? You lost 20 seniors from the 2016 team.

GS would be a good hire if he just worried about football and not politics. He would be a gamble, but I like his coaching style. Double edged sword with him.

Looks like Devon had a big impact on the Thundering Herd family by the looks of the tweets on Twitter. Very sad.

No doubt about that. I’d strongly consider any serious candidate at this point.
