GustheGuesser reacted to Deleted Account in Teams who should play
I needed a good laugh this morning.

GustheGuesser reacted to Deleted Account in Worst place to play or see a game
Unlike the list regarding the "best" places, this list is lengthy and cumbersome.
(1) Mount View. Never have I seen a crowd shower an opposing marching band with beer bottles, beer cans, and tins of snuff. And the dilapidated bleachers built onto an unsteady rock face are a sheer hazard, no matter how one looks at it. The field was never adequately cut, especially if your team was faster than Mount View. And after about 2 quarters, those poop brown and baby turd yellow uniforms are a visual nuisance. Just an absymal setting, and this comes from a fan whose team slaughtered Mount View.
(2) Carroll County. Worst field ever. The number of injury timeouts I've seen for sprained ankles on Tommy Thompson field is staggering. I sure hope it's improved in the last 8 years.
(3) Grayson County. Second worst field ever, but also the second worst bleachers ever, so it's a real lose/lose. You can tell the administration, on a county and school level, have little pride in that facility.
(4) Pocahontas. The setting for their old stadium was absolutely gorgeous, in that clearing in a grove. But the grass was never less than 8" high, and the bleachers were something out of a Stephen King novel. It's a shame that such a beautiful backdrop was so poorly maintained. I really wanted to like that place, but couldn't.
(5) Richlands. I'm just putting Ernie Hicks here just to piss people off. I really don't think Ernie Hicks is that bad, especially since the mountain running down the center of the field has been leveled, but it's my list and I say Richlands is 5th worst. Prove me wrong. :)

There is only one rivalry game in our area, Bluefield vs Graham lol

GustheGuesser got a reaction from GMan in Taymon Cooke...
From the LA Times
October 9, 1990
Gene Wojciechowski
"The Moores weren't considered national-caliber recruits. Virginia got Herman Moore because Virginia Tech wouldn't commit a scholarship to him until he scored high enough on his Scholastic Aptitude Tests. When the Cavaliers said they would offer him a scholarship no matter the outcome, Herman became a Virginia convert. Shortly thereafter, he scored well enough on the SATs. Sorry Hokies.
"Virginia was willing to take a chance," Moore said.

GustheGuesser reacted to GMan in Building a successful basketball program
Well, they pretty much kick Graham's butt every time they step on the court...and considering Graham has been the most consistent team in Tazewell Co. for several years...you figure it out...
Honestly, I would put the best AA teams in WV against the best AA teams in VA and it would be quite competitive.
And to tell the truth, Bluefield could have won a couple more State Titles, and/or at least made it to the State Title game a few more times had it not been for their Region being so difficult to get out of. Wyoming East and Westside have been to the State Title game another seven times during that period, including two more state titles for the Region. Almost everyone in WV expects the winner of that Region to compete for the AA State Title on an annual basis.

The blueprint to building a successful basketball program, look at what Tazewell has done lately and do the opposite

Tazewell will name their coach in the NICK of time. Will it be Leftwich, Saban, or Colobro?

GustheGuesser got a reaction from futbolking in is it to early to start talking bout 2017...whos gonna be the top dawg in the west.
Bluefield royalty isn't coming to Richlands. You guys need to shop elsewhere for a running back

GustheGuesser reacted to futbolking in Quick Question
I think the Richlands Roster should list Name, Height, Weight, Class year, Jersey Number and Hometown.
(Relax folks, just kidding)...
My take is, if they are moving WITH a parent into the attendance zone. You can't blame anybody but their parents for their disloyalty to your team.

Dont we have to wait till after signing day to see who Richlands signs before we can talk about next season?

GustheGuesser reacted to futbolking in Tazewell Football
They haven't done any interviews yet. Nobody has been hired yet, told they were going to be hired or anything of the sort. Deadline to apply is December 19th. Interviews will be conducted after Christmas break.
Colobro would be great for Tazewell and it would be nice for him, if he were able to move close to his dad. It would be hard to imagine a more qualified person or better fit for the Bulldogs, but you never know.....
As far as moving to Tazewell.... Tazewell is an awesome place, full of awesome people, no matter what some of the folks from the outside think. The High School is awesome and it is full of awesome kids and they deserve nothing but the best in all areas, not just sports.
We have some special kids in this area folks, not sure how much you guys realize it, but after living in different areas..... it's not even close.

They lost 42-7, I don't think they were very competitive. Maybe they need to fire their recruiting coordinator.

GustheGuesser got a reaction from Bigrhsfan in Jv and 8th grade teams
Richlands had a real good middle school team this year. They only lost one game this season. Good quarterback, some good looking 7th graders, and probably the best running back in the 8th grade for this area.
