Congrats on the big 200th win. Called a beautiful game tonight. Mixed it up well with the run and short pass game. I knew this team had potential. Go get 201 next week. Love that he threw in the RPO.

Union is always solid. Cant count them out in any game.

I know Pulaski is good but are they that good?

No one knows this team like Mance so im sure he does what he does for a good reason. We're all here just giving our opinions which i think is great to have a place to do that. I would just like to see Mance adapt. I just dont think he has the personnel to run a true spread. I mean how many practices would it take to throw in some plays with a couple different formations? Without the speed they need to be playing the short game. Slants, middle screens, delayed routes from the TE. Then every once in a while throw in a stop and go. Try the pistol formation with 2 RBs and a TE that way it gives the RB more space to hit the hole harder and you can still stay in shotgun. But with Medley and Whited i believe i would always have a TE in the middle of the field. Maybe even 2. Double them up on one side. Imagine the mismatches with their height. And why no play action? Mance in all the years ive been watching, i might see 2 play action passes all year. This would open huge holes for slants and the TE in my opinion. I get it Mance lives and dies by the spread. But when youve only scored 1 offensive TD in 2 games its not working. Like someone said, spread is great if you have the playmakers. With lack of speed you have to have some misdirection. Cant really do that with one back. Its too easy for the defense to see who has the ball unless youre a downhill runner then it doesnt really matter if you hit the hole hard. I know ill probably piss someone off with this by coming off like a know it all but honestly just giving my opinion cuz i really know nothing. Just throwing my thoughts out there on what i would like to see. I would never make it as a coach so why not give couch coaching a try hahaha. Whatever happens im still pulling for Mance and company. But at least maybe some play action? 😕

Also seen Pikeville was at home. A team ive been wanting to watch. They play Raceland. Anyone know if that should be a good game?

Would love to watch the Bluefield vs LB game but just a little too far. Abingdon vs Pulaski doesnt interest me much. Where does Ridgeview play? Still yet to see Atkins (Adkins) in live action.

This is exactly what i would love to see. Webb and Gillespie in the backfield, Medley at TE who can block, hit him for a screen or go deep and Steele at wideout gives you some length and speed. Not sure why Steele hasnt been tried at wideout. Maybe bad hands?

Not sure what Mount View lost from last season. If not much should be a good game.

They may have finally found their RB in Webb. He looked great for his first time in the backfield. Very shifty and can find the wholes. This was a smart move as the QB is struggling with accuracy and it gets the ball in your playmakers hands more often. He looked like a true RB even though undersized. I think Mance relied too much on Fle when we probably shouldve went for it. The kick that got blocked was slow developing. But hindsight is always 20/20. What are their best chances moving forward or what would yall like to see Mance change? Me personally, i like Webb at RB but would like to see a 2 RB set some to give a 1 2 punch in speed and power. Maybe Webb and Gillespie? Would also love to see Medley at TE full time and put Steele at WR to give them a little length with some speed. He's too good of an athlete to not put him on your offense somewhere. Their defense looked pretty good tonight only allowing one long sustained drive. Just my thoughts that don't really matter i guess. Would love to see them turn this offense around and at least finish 5-5. Ill keep saying it, i believe the potential is there. We found out GC is for real and were up on Union 3-0 to start the 4th. Just gotta find something on offense. Gonna keep the hope. Btw who else was wowed that Fle ran down number 32 on that blocked FG? Who knew our kicker had some wheels?

Union horn blower being very classless. Blowing horn constantly during cadence. Also late hit cheap shot on Union was not called. Has caused 2 false starts.

Richlands may have a really bad year this year but i wouldnt be so quick to say they are gonna be bad or count them out. Yes im making predictions based on the first game too but they have some talent. They have other receivers than Webb that have decent speed that can catch the ball in Tarter and Altizer. A new QB that hasnt played since 8th grade that has a lot of upside. And like i said in several other posts if Mance starts 42 Gillespie at RB and moves 5 Steele to wideout and this QB can find his rythym this could be a good team. Keep in mind they had a couple bad snaps, several big penalties and a couple turnovers against GC. They may surprise a lot of people including myself.

Im pretty sure that #2 had that game ending Int. He played that side the whole night. I could be wrong. But if it was #11 then he had 2 Ints. One off a deflection at midfield.

Union will have their usual 200-300 yards rushing like they seem to always have. Don't see it being that close. I say Union 42 Richlands 27. Hope Richlands can right the ship before its too late. The potential is there.

I noticed their numbers were still down but I didn't remember most of the skilled players I seen Friday from last year. If i remember correctly back in the offseason there might have been some talk of getting some transfers from TN. Is this the same team from last year, did they have some new kids come out or get a transfer or two? Either way glad to see them back on the right track.

Whats Tazewell's numbers this year?

I can see Abingdon really piling up the yards on the ground with Martin. Richlands had really good success up the middle when they brought in Gillespie but kept trying to go outside with no luck. Can also see Gate City playing them close but my gut says Abingdon runs wild. Curious to see how this one plays out. If it's close then we know GC is back. If they don't make playoffs this year i feel they're gonna be very dangerous the next 2 years.

I agree. But on the contrary i seen a lot of Tazewell fans and others praising Tazewell for beating an even worse team in EM. And Va high i read will go 0-10. Will see what Tazewell really has Friday. I predicted Richlands to go 5-5 before the season. But this might be the year that Tazewell gets Richlands if they dont get things together.

Hope to see a good one next week. I think Union has won the last 2 or 3. Hopefully its our turn.

No the other way around. I sit with a pretty honest group and most of the penalties on Richlands was legit. If i didnt see it they'll be like yeh he did it. Just seen a few no calls on GC. Thats all im saying about it. I believe this is the first time ive ever said anything about refs and i shouldnt have. GC deserved the win like I said. Good luck on the season.

I hope they can get it together. They have potential. Like I said before Steele is not your running back. They brought in Gillespie and gained some momentum. I believe Steele would be best utilized at WR and put Medley or Whited at TE. Whichever one he has at WR. I get them mixed up they look just alike. Surely Mance has some TE packages. I believe he would be a beast over the middle. He just got outcoached tonight. Didnt like the play calling at all. Hope they can right the ship.

Hey GC1 i noticed your laughing emoji toward my penalty disparity comment. I just call it like i see it. I would like to apologize though to any of the kids that may be reading. They were super excited and deserved the win. They made the plays and Richlands didn't. But man y'all must've been hiding that speed y'all had. Heard no talk of it. No 2, 11, and 12 has some wheels. Wasnt expecting that at all. Best of luck the rest of the season. Would love to see them build off this win and make the playoffs. Was just a little upset with the refs. Again good luck!

Dont recall anyone overhyping Richlands. Most knew what they had. Qbs are struggling with accuracy and receivers are having trouble adjusting and getting underneath the long ball. But if they can get things together they could be a dangerous team. Not a state team but maybe a 2nd or 3rd rounder. GC has some speed that i heard no one talking about. And Calhoun is a truck to bring down at FB. They just made more plays than Richlands. TOs and penalties hurt Richlands as well. But still pretty evenly matched teams. GC is only gonna get better and better by the month and by the year. They have some studs.

Was thinking the same thing. I had them at 5-5 before this loss. Qbs and Wrs are struggling.
