I think the Creasy discussion fired up the rivalry. Ain’t nothing like some well done crow with a side of tators & gravy 😂🤣🤣. Maybe you’ll end up with turkey & ham instead. I’m not making it to BSG but I’ll be glued to my TV watching on NFHS Saturday! Good luck to both but I’m obviously cheering for the SWD teams this week!

Some other Tazewell folks on this board posted they’d be cheering for Union if it came down to Union & Graham. Thanks for supporting us if it goes our way. If doesn’t our way but goes your way, I’ll definitely support the Bulldogs against Gate City! I will always cheer for our Tazewell County teams first! If a M7 ends up in state semis, I’ll cheer for them against 2C winner!

Don’t worry if Union wins and Graham can win most of the Tazewell folks will be Union’s biggest fans next week. Those are big ifs, Union & Graham have to win. I’m not giving either the win. They’ll have to earn it like every other game. Gate City & Tazewell will fight hard to get that win too!

That is exciting though! We’re going to see some great football next year in 2D! Hopefully all the teams will be competitive & it will be a dogfight in the SWD & M7, then region! The better we all are, well, the better we all are!

I think you mentioned D. Palmer in another thread. I truly feel like he’s one of those few to whom you’re referring . I’m sure there are others sprinkled throughout SWVA & even at Graham just like him such as Rex Bradshaw. To me they must truly just love football & coaching. Even when Tony Palmer started his kids were little. Granted they’re playing age now but weren’t then. I think these guys just love it & like competitive aspect of it too. Disclaimer: I’m not a coach nor a parent.

Tony Palmer doesn’t teach. He works for Bluefield, WV PD. I’m not sure about Coach Harris from Tazewell. No clue about Breeding

Wow, a chance to run out the clock or score just one more! The Phoebus coach shouldn’t feel good about it. What a shame his players had no problem wanting to score just one more on a team they decimated. There are times when teams in our area could hang that many if starters were left in the entire time but they don’t. I realize Phoebus was down to 3rd string but I’m not sure what lesson was learned on that last play. It’s on the coach not the kids. Kids don’t have the mental capacity adults do. I’m guessing in 30 years, some of them will think “Man, we shouldn’t have done that!” Obviously, this situation falls on the VHSL when all is said & done.

Key phrase, “If he wanted it”… I sort of doubt he does. Breeding might get it. I highly doubt it’s an outsider though.

My money is still on Mike Compton with the resignation of the HC at UVA-Wise if he wants it, I say it’s his.

I agree, Fix kid especially is getting after it. He’s exciting to watch. I’ll admit after Pulaski game when Palmer had to start in absence of Hass, I was concerned. He is getting better each time he’s out there. Really not giving receivers much cushion at all. Another one stepping up to a different level since about mid-season is Omari Hill. He’s just shifted into another gear lately. Very impressive! A lot of them on defense are really getting after it though.

If I’m not mistaken, GMen only have two Seniors starting on offense & defense or at least against Lee that seemed the case. More younger ones have had to step up due to injuries and other circumstances. There were probably at least eight injured against Lee on the sidelines. Not sure how many starters are out but I’d guess at least 1/2 dozen. They have a lot of youth out there especially on the O-Line. The one area I’m most pleased with is special teams. They’ve really improved this season compared to past seasons.

I’m not knocking Coach Harris but isn’t your job as head coach figuring out how to best utilize all your talent? @SwvaOGhas been saying that about Ridgeview the past couple years being guilty of the same.

Strength & conditioning starts in earnest January or at least it should.

The coach himself said they’d probably underutilized Alley this year ; I believe I’m remembering correctly from the article I read in Bristol paper about the Ridgeview game. He definitely had a great game Saturday!

Internet is forever baby! Somebody somewhere took a screenshot and it’s a bad look making fun of any player’s injury whether you’re an adult or teenager or laughing at it. But kids are stupid & do stupid stuff! I would hope no team actually takes pleasure in an opponent being hurt.

Edwards deserves some accolades for the season thus far; No knock on Clements , he obviously brings Graham’s offense to a different level and makes the GMen much harder to beat but he’s missed 1/2 the season. Edwards on both sides of the ball has been a force to reckon with in my opinion every game. He and the Floyd kid are super fun to watch as is Clements. The Roberts kid at QB has improved a great deal compared to the beginning of the season. The Fix kid is going to be a fun one to watch develop too!

Union has some Tazewell fans on this thread…just scroll back 😂🤣 Seriously, Tazewell needs to come into Bullitt Park thinking they can win! Last year against Ridgeview they got off the bus defeated. If they can give Creasy time to throw and his receivers can get open, it might just be a game! But they have to think they can do it! That’s half the battle! Will their coaches have them thinking they can? We’ll see!

Football has certainly molded many a boy into a man! Go “Dawgs”! I’d love to see two Tazewell County teams in the final! (And it has nothing to do with not wanting to play Union; I just think it would be neat but we both have formidable opponents to face first).

I don’t think he’s belittling individual players. Maybe he just means this group hasn’t earned a district title or regional title? I mean I use the term “Dawgs” as it’s just a deviation of Bulldog when talking about Tazewell. He might just be kidding too! It’s hard to tell sometimes😂😂😂. There are definitely times when players don’t give 100% , do some always give 100% ? Sure, do others? Not always! As for Graham, they definitely aren’t the same team as they were earlier this season with that statement I 100% agree!

These two teams played on Saturday last year in regional semis. Someone said, Turner is playing on Saturdays to get his kids used to it. Good idea, really!l Does visiting team get to pick? I read that somewhere. Anyone know why Gate City/Graham would be Friday night instead of Saturday? I would think Gate City would rather play Saturday than travel on Friday after school.

You think Graham doesn’t want to play Union? 😂 I’m pretty sure those boys & coaches want another shot at Union after the loss in the regular season. They’re competitors! I can also promise you they aren’t looking ahead either. Their focus will be completely on Gate City this week. On a side note, I always want Tazewell to win except when they play Graham and that’s in any sport! I like to see all of our county student athletes and teams do well. Weird, I know!
