Cooke has touched the ball one time for Graham..... Frustrating

Very frustrating...We've got to make major adjustments 2nd half or we're looking at a blowout.I know I'll get slammed for this but in big games having at least prove one veteran coach on staff can come in handy. Tony's done a good job but big games sometimes need "experience".

Allen will definetly be the best QB we've played. I've seen him in person and can verify that. And it's not even close to be honest.

Kudos to Palmer for sticking it out with Allen when he was criticized early on , Cam Allen has just gotten better all season. Union does worry me. If their offense controls ball and our defense is out there a majority of time like the regular season game Union had with Richlands, it won't be good for us.

Ask the previous basketball coach at richlands about who pulled the trigger on his firing. I remember there being news paper articles detailing how this happened. The BDT ran one interviewing Fuller.

Part of the  argument was a dad coaching his own son & giving preferential treatment ; how does Moir solve this ???? By hiring a another dad who gives his son preferential treatment. Jody Fuller is a stand up guy and did not deserve the underhanded way all that went down. School board politics, gotta love it!

Can you please tell me which "transfer" was recognized at the "highest" level because of Richlands?

I think what Greg Mance has been able to accomplish is great for all the kids in our area.  It does get old hearing many Richlands fans, coaches, family members, etc. Say that going to Richlands you are punching your ticket to a D1 school.

Can someone kill this thread so we dont have to hear how great this Richlands team that didnt win a playoff game was?

Exactly how many Richlands' players have gone to D1 schools to play football? I'd like to know the % ? Actually, how many go to D2 schools to play? Curious is all.

I hope you are a God fearing person, and I hope this post was your way of trying to be funny, but for Mance to say it is in God's hands show's his reliance on the one who created the universe, and for you to make light of that shows pure ignorance on your part.  I respect everyone on this board, but if you are making fun of God being in control, I have no respect for that, and I will pray that you had no intention for your post to turn out that way, but that is how I perceived the wording.

This has always been a good place for all of us to have a little fun and post our opinions, but making fun of God almighty is going a bit to far, so please tell me that was not your intentions.

I would never make fun of God , period. God doesn't care who wins a football game. Anyone that believes that He does is ignorant of His word. Generally speaking, there are people who throw God's name around for show and do not actually walk the walk but gladly talk the talk and people that know them and God's word realize that. Those kind of people poison Christianity and turn people away from God and church. Please do not read into this that I'm pointing fingers or calling someone out. I noted, "generally speaking". This entire thread was meant in good fun obviously. Your perceptions are your own.

Last I checked the school board holds the power of the super.  Just look what they did a few years ago...

Unfortunately, with school board politics, teams and players suffer. Retired school teachers don't always make the best school board members, too much "buddy" and "good ole boy" mentality generally speaking. A couple whiny players and vindictive parents hold more power than a great coach supportive administratior, parents, & players which is wrong. Tazewell County is one of the worst for this. The superintendent debacle make Tazewell County look foolish and wasteful!

Just about every team has weaknesses out there. That's what coaching at this time of year is about, finding them in the other team and showing them to your team to exploit them. Just because you didn't see adjustments for the Richlands game doesn't mean they need another coach in there somewhere. Graham has a great team of players and coaches and they'll do just fine.

Nobody said they wouldn't be fine, I predicted they would win today by 4+ TDs and so far so good. If they meet Appo down the road, yes, I'm worried.

You are 100% correct. However, we are in a new era now. Just gotta pay the school a small fee. Since Mance had a down year, he should be in his recruiting prime.

A "down year" , how many 7 loss seasons has Richlands had? I dare say not many if any the past 30 years. He better start the lockeroom tours, finding housing, & making promises of scholarships now in prep for next year.

If Richlands has at least one play maker on offense, this game would of been in the books. Richlands had the better team, Union just had the better player. Things looking up for Richlands though. Loosing most of the front but all of the secondary returns. If they can find a line and maybe a transfer or 2 ? they are gonna be A okay for next year.

Call a spade, a spade..."a transfer or 2" ?? Richlands has a better "recruiting" system than some colleges. If I'm not mistaken, the only championship they won under Mance was year they didn't have recruits from other schools. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.

If you are "receiving" transfers;you should play a tougher schedule

"Receiving" code word for recruiting? ? Everyone knows Mance recruits & if it was provable that he's violated VHSL rules, he'd be gone. Didn't I read in one of these threads they tried to get the kid from Bluefield , Collier, to come play for them?

I agree, but it's not just this year with Richlands in the playoffs, it's going back over a decade in which they may have very well been the better team in many or at least some of those state-semi and state-final losses which game at the same thing, bailing out on the run, especially on 2nd and 5 or 6 or 3rd and 4 or 5 and killing drives, and they had the same thing many times in these losses (near misses that had a guy open for a TD) only to be dropped or tipped or whatever, but the thing is, if you don't complete it, your drive is over, and High School Football has short quarters.  They go by quick and you only get so many possessions.

Absolutely, spot on...if I recall correctly , in 2015 offense let Appo score on first play. I dare say Mance has cost them more state championships than they've won. Defense has always been Richlands' strength even before Mance was head coach that why it puzzled me when he let Palmer go.

I agree with your premise, but I still think Mance "gets by" in regular season with the finesse passing game.  He is a solid coach and there is no doubt about it, but he wins many games in the regular season by scheme and passing schemes which separate his team from a team that may be close in talent and gets the W.  The problem is, when they get in the playoffs and play an equally talented team, you simply can't out finesse your way to a championship, you have to run the ball, or at least more be balanced.  He went away from the run 3 seconds into the second quarter of this game regarding running the ball on 3rd and 5's, and many 2nd and 5's, and in the second half, it was huge.  It left enough clock for Mitchell to make a play.  But, credit Union also.  Richlands other than the big pass and the 2nd series of the game couldn't move the ball much either.  The game was a toss up and could have gone either way.  Why Richlands chooses so many times to bail out on the run on a 3rd and 5 with an incompletion, when they could likely have a 4th and 1 and go for it and try to get the yard baffles me.  They've done it for years, and they get by most of the time and win the game, but either deep in the playoffs against an equally talented team, or early this year in the playoffs against Union, that lack of run focus catches them so many times.  It's tough on a heavy-pass laden offensive line to practice pass blocking most of the time, then try to make the switch to run blocking, especially at the High School level.

The most undisciplined team & coach lost. Richlands used to be much more disciplined than what I've seen this year. Mance panics & it's most evident in playoffs every year.

They scared the hell out of em. Not to shabby for a team that’s been called “bad” by some. I think anyone who watched them play knew better. Proud to be a blue tornado. You guys played your hearts out! And congrats to Union. I hope they run it all the way to Salem.

Even if they run it all the way to Salem, Appo will win hands down. It will probably be a thrashing like Richlands got last year although I'm hoping it's Graham running it all the way down to Salem.
