I was in my 20s and no dog in the fight but I know when I see a great team and that team was great. Why Vaught thought he needed the cleats is beyond me. That team was winning, period.
-
Truthfully, Richlands probably could have won in tennis shoes. They were that good that year.
-
Is it really football season if no one brings up the cleats? Some people have a hard time letting go đ.
-
@EH31 & @CPF maybe you two should wager a Frosty??? đ
-
Ridgeview by a lot especially if Grundy canât defend the pass defense.
-
Letâs hope all players from both sides stay healthy & injury free not only this game but for the season. .
-
Tazewell has great hot dogs so the other thread said if that counts for anything đ But yes, thatâs a great visual. Iâm all about some food & fun myself (sadly TCPS School Board isnât) never really been into pain though. đđ

I donât discuss xâs & oâs with Grahamâs coaches either just a diehard fan but I guarantee Rex & Snake will be fine tuning that pass defense this week. If anyone can get them ready for Creasy & company and Tazewellâs passing game,itâs them. They will have them prepared and definitely not taking Tazewell lightly. I think Tony & other Graham coaches know, no game is a given and they donât let the boys think that it is.
Chess match is a great analogy. Hopefully, at the end of the night, Tony Palmer can say âcheckmateâ. đ

This thread is turning into great entertainment! My two cents in a nutshell.
Tazewellâs defense has to stop Grahamâs running game.
Grahamâs defense has to stop Tazewellâs passing game.
This will come down to lineplay on both sides of the ball.
My contention has been: Grahamâs defense is ahead of where they were at this point in previous seasons. We will see if Tazewell D can out play them. Iâm not handing Graham the automatic win but I do give them the advantage merely because of their defense. They held Hairston to under 20 yards rushing. Thatâs big!
-
I think he insinuated Tazewell is going to sweep the SWD by smashing every other team thus possibly being on the RV level???? đ¤ˇđťââď¸
-
Yes , I believe 1-9 but closed maybe Sunday/Monday/Tuesday. Definitely open Fridays
-
Itâs really laughable at this point. Good joke though! Seriously, I did hear he was possibly taking legal action although I'm not sure what leg he would have to stand on considering coaching is a year to year contract and no contract had been signed.
-
35-14 Union, although GC has improved theyâre still not great. Iâm not saying theyâre terrible but they arenât a Union. If Union doesnât have a ton of self inflicted penalties, I see at least a 20 point spread. Richlands is hopefully headed in the right direction but I canât see them winning this one even at Ernie. I hope Iâm wrong about the spread difference , a nail biter would be fabulous for the fans in attendance.

According to article @Real Sasquatch shared, Hairston had 18 yards rushing. Hairston is a stud & for Grahamâs defense to hold him to 18 speaks volumes. Graham has some tweaking to do but if their defense improves each game as in the past, youâre right, it could spell trouble for their opponents. Bluefield is a formidable opponent and Tazewell has improved leaps & bounds but Tazewell is no Bluefield in my opinion. Iâm not writing Tazewell off but Grahamâs worst enemy Friday night will be themselves. Good luck to both teams! đ for injury free game for both sides! Go GMen!!!!
-
@Real Sasquatch youâve got offspring đ
-
That makes the win more impressive for Bulldogs if they kept him in check.
-
Did VA High have Jones? I know Tazewell ended up taking Creasy out from what I read on here.
-
This has been my contention since game against Glass. Grahamâs defense is ahead at this point than in the past few previous seasons. In 2018, they werenât a solid cohesive unit until about game 4 or 5. Iâm not saying 2022 D is better than 2018 defense but by end of the season, it might be close. Rex & Snake got those boys heading in the right direction out of the gate. They have depth which has been an issue sometimes. All this is my humble opinion, other sportsâ board coaches might disagree.

Richlands. Great job Coach Tarter & company!

Iâm guessing Graham coaching staff will be tweaking a lot of things this week. Overall, Iâm pleased with our first game out. I think our line okay will be stronger than Tazewell. If we can keep their defense on the field & limit the time Creasy & company are on offense , we should win. Tazewell has athletes. Our offense had Bluefieldâs defense on the field the majority of the first quarter. If we do that to Tazewell, we win easily is my thought. I think our offense will progress. Meadows is an athlete and isnât afraid to go through a pile of big guys. We had some young guys do pretty well, some their 1st start. We did over pursue on defense a couple of times. Iâd rather over pursue than not pursue đ.
One thing for certain, Tazewell County teams wonât go 3 for 3 next week! Iâm just hoping one win goes to the GMen.
-
If they can keep every defense on the field as much as they did Beaver that first quarter, thatâs a good thing. Youâre right, definitely got some work to do on offense especially. I thought defense was much further along for the first game than years past.
-
I need to recover & process tonightâs game before I can think about this one đ.
-
Yeah, a lot! đ Bluefield made a great comeback! Kudos to them & kudos to Graham for making some key plays when needed.
-
The Fuller kid impressed me a lot at QB.
-
Bluefield defense on the field for the majority of 1st quarter.
