Reed changed their culture. Abingdon has always been knows as soft..he toughened them up and some of the kids and parents probably had a hard time adjusting. The kids that are still there are tough because of reed and his staff. Give them a couple years...they be back to being soft again.

Is there a better candidate out there than Darren reed? He knows gc football. Hc experience. Abingdon still riding his coattails. They will drop off next year. If he don’t get the job... then Scott county school board is even dumber than what we think they are. Give him a chance. Give him at least 3 years. That’s what Akers got. If he can’t do it. Then give houseright his chance. If neither of those 2 work then scratch the program.

Nobody on unions staff would be good enough. It sure ain’t the dc. He would be lost if not for Jones. And the oc would be worse than Akers. There is a reason Travis call the plays

I disagree. Talent is there. They did not want to play. And even at that the ones that did play should have and could have been 5-5 teams. Battle, lee, wise. Should never lose those. Other games besides Richlands. Union and rv most years should at least be competitive. Should be beating south also.

What less prestigious school would want somebody that could not win at gc? If you can’t win there, where could you win. Retreat was happy he left.

Is akers still teaching at gc? I wonder if he is staying and not coaching. It would be hard for him to get another hc job after his last two years.

AD needs to go and then gc will be really rolling. People forget it was rat and Roberts who were so against Jeremy houseright that they hired Akers as a default. Chickens coming home to roost. If reed gets job...there will definitely be some egos clashing with hc and ad.

Seems like you need it the way you are judging. I don’t like the fact that it happened to the kid. But preacher man felt “god’s wrath”which has been a long time coming. The way his teams play,especiallyagainst Gc. It is very karma like that this has happened to his Bball team. I got nothing against the boy. Hate it happened to him, but for the hypocritical coach....well.

Gc has had 4 coaches since the early 60s. They did not fire or run of the first three.

I hate it for the guy...I really do. He was in way over his head and should have never been hired. I don’t blame him, the powers that be set him up to fail. I hope he can rebound from this experience. With that being said...he needs to go. colobro may come back if they beg him. Remember he was supppsed to be on Tazewell’s sidelines. He working for a bad db program. Maybe gc with reed running the day to days might entice him.
