VA High will more than likely get their 5-0 start, but this schedule hasn't included TN High or Abingdon like years past!
Both teams have played crazy difficult schedules thus far; coming into Week 6, both teams’ opponents’ combined records were something like 13-1. Both teams have talented playmakers, though both teams are coming into this game from somewhat opposite directions. I expect an emotional, even game where the team that makes the fewest mistakes wins.
Would give the edge to Richlands in this one. Think they will definitely wear Tazewell down up front.
Unfortunately, that’s happening to a lot of teams. It’s hard when a team has limited practice & no games but it didn’t affect Thomas. He had a great game.
VA High was out of sync in the first half. It was the worst officiated game in the first half, blatant calls against VA High. There are so many kids going both ways, that they got extremely tired on the line in the second half. Spotswood was gashing off tackle in the second half. Glad to see VA High fight through adversity.
Virginia High lost virtually nobody, and now has a very competent coaching staff in place. Graham lost several pieces, and Virginia High is a bad matchup for them in terms of scheme/style. I think Graham's best is better than Virginia High's best, but Graham has a tendency not to play to their capabilities. Virginia High's played at an exceptional level each time out. I know Graham folks don't want to hear it, but a Virginia High win wouldn't surprise me one iota.
Va High is much improved and we are glad to see, but they haven’t played an opponent to test them yet. Graham has played a lot of meaningful games, and Va High hasn’t. Graham is still 2 to 3 scores with experience and tradition better right now.
it’s good to see some of the potential and athletes be held accountable.
A damn message board means nothing to a coach or adminstrator. Do you think their decisions are based on this board or have, remotely any action, in their decisions! I know some definitley read the board, but they could care less!
I heard George Wythe offered to play Monday night of next week. What? GW planning on practicing Saturday & Sunday. I guess they wanted to appear cooperative since they’re getting blasted on here and probably by some of their own folks I would imagine. Graham plays Bluefield Friday. I’m no coach but I wouldn’t play GW Monday after offering to play Saturday when I have to prepare for Bluefield. You want your boys to play every game possible but not two games the week you play Bluefield. I’m like you, once contract is fulfilled, find another team. 💯 %, done!
I don't think any coach or administrator gives a "FLYING SHIT" about what goes on here!!
Tazewell has been down for 30 years with only very brief glimpses of competitiveness and it's similar to Virginia High as the reasons why for all of these years. Coaching. The talent has been there to be far better than what the level of success and win's and loss record has shown over the past 3 decades. VaHigh is an example of what happens when a team with talent hires a coach that is an x and o sharpshooter. It equals instant success. That coach has no business...ZERO business winning at Holston. Zero. Pure coaching at an elite level for a High School Coach.
Ive said it before and ill say it again, the way to do this is go back to the West/East setup but take 8 from each instead of 16. Ive yet to see a case where the top 8 allows anyone truly "undeserving" in or leave a "deserving" team out. And I liked the +1 setup so keep that.
This season your playoff teams would end up with the West looking something like:
Appomattox, Glenvar, Floyd, Radford, Graham, Union, Central, and Ridgeview.
I love having a Regional Champion but the above setup makes for some really good football in every round.
That has been tried and done. There was that set up, and people complained to go back to the Region format. You had 1 vs 16, and 2 vs 15 etc. People complained because of travel. Now it is back to Regional. People need to make up there mind!

I know it was discussed, and is a possibility! I agree, would much rather have the points! In Region D1, surprised at Patrick Henry at 9 - they may be the best team in that Region. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
I decided to attempt to keep track of Class 1/2 on the west side. Probably should have picked a different year! haha Trying to keep track of all the ppd/ccd games has been nuts. Thanks to @VHSLhelper for his "moves" thread! Also, due to the amount of teams playing private schools and way out of their region, more teams to keep track of. Don't shoot me if these aren't 100% accurate, I'm sure I've missed some. If you see a mistake, let me know.

Are you sure they are going by power points this year? I know Region D 2 has discussed having "Top 4" from each district, as of last week. I don't know if that is definite, but principals and athletic directors did discuss.
