Glenvar running the ball, simply blocking down and kicking out but then they quit doing it. Head scratcher. Coverage for defense atrocious at times. Lucky isn't worse. Thinking o.c. is Stevie wonder, d.c. ray Charles, talking to Roy orbison and Ronnie Millsaps in the booth.

Why in-house in the old days worked. Build your own, take care of your own without focusing so much on competition. The high school staff should be involved to the extent that the youth are running the base O/D as the high school so it's not all new when they get there. Most local teams in earlier days were better consistently at the high school level because they knew and grew what they had coming. I think a couple of teams in the M7 attempted to do the district-wide travel type with only a few schools participating. Not sure how it worked out but I wonder if the HC's had anything to do with it. I can see the importance on the middle school level, not so much the younger kids. It only makes sense to build your own teams and play in house. EX: 5 teams, 5 sets of every position plus the others that aren't starting but getting playing time on offense, defense, and special teams. The pros outweigh the cons. Whoever gets this job is going to have to make that tough decision with returning players. Do you let your Jr/Sr class be varsity along with a handful of So? Or, do you let every available athlete that could contribute do just that? If the varsity takes some lumps but allows the Fr/So to grow up together on JV for a year or two before throwing them to the wolves, is that better now or later? Tough times ain't over yet.

Radford is good indeed this season. Who they played that should have given them a game or had a chance of beating them? Best shot was Appo with some ball control offense but the Raider Defense was a little suspect. Glenvar part 2 will be about like part 1. Their Qb is an absolute athlete with all the intangibles but Defense will have to step up to get all the way to Salem and have a chance. Watching Radford defense, I'm not sure of the percentage but of the few games I've seen they stick 6 or so in the box and send them nearly every play. Disruptive, yes but dangerous as well because when someone breaks the line, they gone and your db's on an island with little to no help. Can't tell on film but maybe they have 4-5 studs playing db and just don't care or Crist is completely out of the picture as OC and DC and letting his people do their jobs. It'll be interesting from here on out that's for sure.

I think at this stage they may have already adjusted. Someone said it already, it's not their first rodeo but back to back to back in 2A will test their limitations. Someone having a defense that is physical enough to do it four quarters is a rarity these days but if they have an offense that can jump on them and get out by a couple of scores to force them out of their element and pass a little more, it could happen. They're so good at moving the ball and eating clock, and their Defense isn't bad either but we'll see.

Qb 's within the region for the past several years have been pretty solid. The numbers and different abilities are off the charts compared to 20 years ago.

Rye Cove, although appearing to have struggled against Eastside, have the potential if they can control the clock and score. At some point they're going to have to develop some consistency on Defense and limit the Honaker air assault. If they do then they've got a good shot. If not, Honaker by 20.

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. I watched the last meeting and Clements didn't do much but was reported to not be healthy and I would imagine that was the case. I'm sure Graham wouldn't keep him out other wise. Union D appears more geared to stop the run than the pass so I'm guessing that's the route Graham will go to make things open up a little better for him. Union on the other hand looked a little out of sync yesterday offensively, but unlike years past I don't think they peaked too early around game 5. Defense has carried them through a couple of rough series this season with a bend but not break attitude. It would appear that the change in personnel along the defensive front was due last season with the solid play at DE. Clements will make some plays as expected, but it's one of those games where someone that doesn't normally make one will have to in order to win. For Union's sake, I hope it's not an extra point. Side note: 2 TD's get called back at some point for Graham and/or Union for a penalty. Watching the NFHS, it appears that Union is indeed their own worst enemy at times as is Graham. These two teams are very similar with the potential to bust a long play at any time but I think Anderson being a double threat may be a slight advantage. Should be a loud emotional atmosphere. I'm gonna say that it'll come down to a final possession type of game somewhere in the 24-20 range. Good luck to both to beat whatever region C has to offer and bring one home to 2D.

Lots of run- heavy teams at the next level too but I'm sure any decent line coach will take a chance on a 6'2 or better @ 275lb that's a road grader that can pull. I don't believe every decent high school lineman recruited for ncaa comes from a diverse offense.

Yep, but the way things go if union wins region and Anderson does well it'll be a hard argument. If not it'll be a pissing contest between rv and taz at that meeting. But taz mom's they mean today.

Was as expected. Dawgs have some athletes, but got a lot of help from union almost coming apart in the 3rd. Creasy looked decent at times but for whatever reason getting back on the wr's at the line and manning up wasn't a good idea on the 3rd. It disrupted what taz tried to do. When union didn't tighten up, creasy nickel and died them pretty good. Don't know how many seniors taz roster has but they gotta decent thing going. Good game and good luck next week U.

a good feeder program that teaches fundamentals and a crew of high school coaches that do the same thing is a rarity these days. If any school even has half of that, it's worth it's weight in gold. The community involvement is not everything but it definitely makes an impact on a kid when he's meeting the supporters on the regular. I'm not sure about a dinner other than the night before or the day of the game, but that's just another good chance for them to sit together again and break bread before getting after it. I don't think Richlands created the blueprint for success, but they were on to something good before it wasn't. Regroup and begin again in the simplest form and grow it. It's high school football, figure out a way to get the kids to buy in and keep investing for a common goal whether it's a lift, 40yd, gpa, etc. The goal is to become a better athlete and has to be attainable. It should have nothing to do with what anyone outside the football family of that locker room when it comes down to it.

footwork needs a little work, but he's young and going to be a monster before it's all said and done. Looking forward to seeing what he does.

Record since he's been there after the first year has steadily improved and established some consistency. Even beefed up the schedule but so far haven't had that big game to turn the corner. Farthest they've made it so far, and who knows anything could happen Saturday. They've got nothing to lose and everything to gain. Could be interesting. It's enough to stop the bleeding of losing athletes to neighboring schools.

Even more reason to work on that run game. Let them rb's take that beating they've prepared for. Or, he's just fragiLAY. hope everyone's healthy for these 4 quarters and more, regardless of win or loss.
