The Veterans Day parade was scheduled for Saturday in Big Stone at 11. Because the game was moved to Saturday the town of Big Stone canceled the Veterans Day parade. A lot of people are understandably upset.
As they should be. Why can't they work it out to have both?
I'm watching this Rye Cove at Twin Springs game on the NFHS network, and the PA announcer is clearly doing play-by-play, even encouraging the Titans. That's not legal by VHSL rules is it?
-In his first 23 seasons, there were no playoffs and no chance of playing for a state title. Undefeated and powerful teams in '57 and '62 perhaps could've won state.
-VHSL only crowned three teams (A, AA, AAA) from 1970-1985 making the feat more challenging. During that era, Cummins won three (3) titles and was runner-up to a much larger school in Madison Co. losing by 1 point.
Winning was the by-product of how Cummins coached. If you do things right, winning will take care of itself. During his coaching days, the LPD gave a sportsmanship award each year, and his teams consistently won that award. The type of behavior that goes on today would not have happened when he coached, gotta respect that more than anything else his teams accomplished.
Wouldn't bother me to see Graham recruit the ever loving heck out of West Virginia and bring in all kinds of hoopers and lay it to John Marshall. Wouldn't bother me one little bit. Lay it to em G-Men!
Lebanon has lost to 2 good teams. Marion lost to a improved Chilhowie team and beat a bad Central team. I'm saying Pioneers by 7. The passing attack will be too much for Marion.
I think this is a preview to the 1A Region D Championship game, and the loser of this one will bounce back and beat the other for the region championship.
No chance for the Raiders, Ridgeview names the score. Burton and Eastside both open with M7 teams, mostly for the gate that Ridgeview and Central bring, and pray that no one gets injured.
Two big upsets tonight in Region 2D semifinal action, knocking two district champions out of a chance to advance to the region championship and state quarterfinals. John Battle girls defeat M7 champion Gate City in softball, and Marion defeats SWD Champion Virginia High in baseball.
