Unless the rule has changed, throwing the ball out of bounds is intentional grounding in high school. The quarterback being outside the pocket is irrelevant in HS.

No unsportsmanlike penalties?!?!?!?!?! I'm highly disappointed 🤣🤣

What blows my mind about the penalties is that most of them are so blatant but they act like they didn't do/say anything.

I believe Ridgeview will wear down VHS with their physicality. Two things Ridgeview is going to have to work on as the season goes on: 1) Downfield coverage/eyes in the backfield. 2) Personal fouls/unsportsmanlike penalties.

Thoughts on this one?? Not hearing too much about either team. Can the 2016 crunch bunch champions come over to the Ridge and continue their dynasty?

Didn't Eastside almost have Central beat last year and fumbled late in the 4th??

Central has the tools to be very good for the next couple of years. The key is ball distribution. They have three players that are very ball-dominant.

If Baker would have been utilized properly last year he wouldn't be a surprise this year.

This entire incident could have been avoided if the VHS coach wouldn't have ran to home like a crazy person. His runner was clearly out and he (the coach) should have been immediately ejected for his actions.

He didn't coach against Ridgeview last night....

Whether it's his son or not doesn't change anything. In this situation they are coach-player, not coach-son or father-son.

I didn't realize he had a younger son playing. It looks similar but not sure what was said last night. I can vouch that the ex Ridgeview coach physically and verbally assaulted a player.

I went back and watched it on NFHS. Looks like it started with the player being a sore loser by slamming his helmet down and looks like he said something then Gobble got involved. Again....no excuse for an adult to put their hands on a student-athlete.

That's definitely not his son. Doesn't matter if it is or not. No place for a coach to put his hands on a player.

That's the only game that I didn't get to watch any of.

Do any of our local officials ever get to work the state championship games? I haven't recognized a single official yet. I know we all like to complain about them but I would be that ours down in this part of the state are just as good as the ones out east.

Could you all imagine if a school tried to do this on our end of the state?? NO WAY the VHSL would let them play!!!

Kudos to the Va High kids for not backing down. Listening to these announcers try to validate what JM is doing is sickening. They, and the VHSL, should be ashamed of themselves for doing what they're doing. That wasn't a true 2A championship game that was just played.

Pretty sure he has a family member that plays basketball for Central.
