Just save your breathe.  I'll go ahead and say it.....UVAObserver is an argumentative asshat.  Just agree to disagree with the guy.  He is the reason half the board now pulls against Tazewell.

Is he the type to yell out "HOLD" on every play when his team is on defense and "Pass Interference" when they're on offense?

This season is a different issue……just no rhyme or reason to the passing attack.  It’s random AF.  If you understand passing you’ll notice there are no concepts.  Against Richlands, a called deep corner route with no underneath check down route led to an interception into triple coverage.  Play design isn’t setting QB up for success.  Asking him to consistently make low percentage throws.  A lot of RV faithful not happy that OC reigns turned over to a Coach with no high school OC experience at all.  Alot of figuring it out as we go.

Completely agree.  On the INT into triple coverage you could tell by watching at the snap where the ball was going because none of the other receivers were even running routes.  That's why the corner and two safeties were able to get to the ball so quickly.

Bet your check on it.  I think we are seeing him running more because he's not feeling the passing game.

I think he's running more because the pass plays are designed to go to one particular receiver and coverage of that means he has to take off.

    Ridgeview Summer 2022...

Son and WR coach play Madden 2018

Son to dad "New idea for an offense", Dad "run it"

    Fall 2022...

Son and WR coach to QB, run this and don't deviate...

Ridgeview... spread formation. 7 and 13 twins left, 5 and whoever twins right. QB cadence, snap ball, QB look left. Continue to look left, continue to look left. 5 and whoever stand wide open  and continue to be wide open, wave arms. QB look left, throw fade or streak to 7, hook to 13 while being triple coveraged. Defense, intercept ball/knock ball down.

Coaches... "We'll get 'em next time"

Dad/s... "That 7/13 needs to touch the ball more"

It is VERY obvious where the ball is going when the ball is snapped.  Eyes go straight to the intended receiver and never come off.  The interception that was thrown Friday night was thrown into triple coverage with two receivers standing wide open.  If RV will ever learn to look off a safety or go through progressions in the passing game they will be even more deadly.

Since this thread went completely off the rails 😂, do y’all think the rain favors Richlands? After all, Ridgeview passes a lot, that can be tricky in rain & wind. Maybe some turnovers go in the Blues’ favor??? That would be a bigger upset than GC over Union. The board would literally implode 😂

Something that hasn't been mentioned is the fog that always rolls in around halftime on the ridge.  This could definitely hamper RV's ability to throw the ball around.

I saw where o'quinn has 600 passing yards and 7 tds  (don't know his ints) in 3 games. That's pretty impressive. I think Lee's qb has 500 passing yards, 7 tds, and 0 ints in 3 games. Pretty good stats for some underclassmen.

    I think O'quinn has 6 INT's (2 in each game)

I would say it is improving.  They made an adjustment on DL that is helping and they still have a Fr and Soph as first year starters but they are improving.  The LBs are the best unit of the defense.  They will flash and make great plays but will leave their gaps sometimes.  The DBs aren’t that good in run support.  @Observer had it right by saying that they don’t pursue well as a team.  There really isn’t an excuse for that.  That defense would be as fierce as Graham and Union if they would go all in.  RV is an offensive first culture.  Union and Graham is a defensive first culture.

Ridgeview has great athletes but it is obvious that some are doing their own thing on the defensive side and it bites them sometimes.

Steve Villani has been named the new baseball coach at Ridgeview.  He’s a transplant from Texas.  It will be interesting to see what he does with that program.  Hearing good things.

I have also heard good things about Coach V.  Maybe Ridgeview finally has somebody that actually cares about the baseball program instead of somebody that is just filling a position.

Fort Chiswell comes to mind for me as being one of the worst fan bases. I recall a game at Mitchell in which they talked trash non-stop. The following year I got to the game late and decided to just sit on Fort's side. That was a mistake. Kinda surprised me honestly. When I think of Fort Chiswell I think of a quiet farming community. They can sure raise some hell on Friday nights.

I will second this.  I heard a story about a FC fan going down onto the field at Rural Retreat and somehow got right beside an official and threatened him.  When the police tackled the man a knife flew out of his pocket.

Mark it down, RV’s undoing will be their line.  They are big enough on OL but just don’t push anyone off the ball.   They greatly miss the Gibson kid from last year in DL, who wrecked Central both times they played and would go toe to toe with anyone.  RV grows skill players but they don’t grow OL.  It’s weird.

Ridgeview's undoing will be their discipline and egos.  They are talented enough to beat any team around here but they know they are, if that makes sense.

  11. Last weeks showing at Grundy wasn't the best by the Pack.  I'm sure there was a little bit of looking ahead to this week's matchup with Central.  This is one of those games that Ridgeview will have probably 7 of the top 10 athletes on the field.  However, if Central can methodically move the ball down the field like Grundy did, this one may be close at the end.  Special teams might be the key factor to this one.  Central has an experienced kicker that has the ability to kick from distance.

  12. Foster is a disaster waiting to happen.  I know it was several years ago but he was at the middle of the little league football scuffle that made national news.  I'm sure there will be some that will be happy to see him get the job because he already has his favorites.  As far as Ridgeview goes, that program is on the upswing.  The influx of players over the next few years is going to be a plus for the program.
