  1. Central has 4th and 4 from the Union 32 up two scores with just over 9 min left. Having a Richland's flee puts it away here.
  2. 3rd and 7 at Union 36 with 10 minutes left.
  3. 2nd and 9 at Union 38 with 11 and 1/2 minutes left.
  4. End of the 3rd, 2nd and 8 for Central at their own 43. They are gashing Union. Without a turnover or penalty, they may win this. But, they have had two chances to out it away that could have out them up 3 scores. Going to be interesting.
  5. Up 21-7, 70+ yd TD run for Central with chance number two that would have out it away, but a hold. Now, it's 1st and 20. Again, moment to big? We will see.
  6. About 50 yds in rushing on the last drive from nearly midfield and Union Scores. Momentum Central and a chance to out it away, fumble, and Polier takes the momentum back. (D1 kids do that).
  7. And there it is........fumble for Central after gashing Union and a chance to go to 28-0 and maybe out it away, but is the moment to big? I think it is. Union down 21-0 will win this game.
  8. Listening to Union vs Central. Things can and probably will change, but they are absolutely gashing Union in the ground for chunks of 5, 8, 9 etc. Has had three ball for the first 5 minutes of the third qtr.
  9. Bring down to Bluefield, WV, and I have 13 to 14 players on the field for Bluefield who could keep it close. Should be specific...11 players+2-3, LOL. Years ago, Martinsburg made a trip to Bluefield and got sent packing if I'm not mistaken. Maybe it was Morgantown High. Can't remember. Of course, this year they would beat the Beavers easily.
  10. Should still be able to run the ball. Is Union not getting anything with the run game?
  11. Polier and Lomax and the Union Offensive and Defensive lines. Are they injured? WT$
  12. Second Qtr, Appo 30, Dan River 0. Appomattox will renter the "convo" and one of the favorites for the big show after tonight. Dan River ain't bad. They are doing this to a talented team with a new coach who is better than the previous one at Dan River.
  13. Appo all over Dan River, leads 21-0 in the late first qtr.
  14. To me, it means Galax is superiorly coached. It wreaks of an efficient run offense that is hammering the opponent and forcing more of them into the box to stop the run, and then boom, one on one ball or post pattern behind the defense for 6 points.
  15. Ft Chiswell plays Montcalm? Lord have mercy.
  16. Auburn and East Montgomery can be thrown in there. Fort Sheezzzille ain't to far away. After reading the Battle fans posts, I think 4 factors explain the variance. Only my guess. Millennials. Lots of them graduating VT and staying in a technical area that's growing (CBurg-Bburg-Radford). That increases the overall population, but they don't have kids in High School yet. Retirement. Bristol, VA, Older retirees who's kids are long gone from High School. Home School. Huge increase across the United States, not just with right leaning Christians, but especially among older millennials who may be more left of center or progressive, whatever you want to call it, and they have the resources to easily do that around major universities, and probably job stability for the group of millennials that are at the older end of that generstion as they are now we'll into their mid to late 30s. Private Schools/Christian Schools. Like the Battle poster said, two of them in Bristol, and Blacksburg I know has a big one. Add all four of these things and mix em and twist em, and that might explain the variance of why for example, Radford has a larger population that Union and it's area and Graham of Bluefield and it's area, yet Radford has less students than both.
  17. Good luck to Riverheads again, not that they need it. They are bad enough without needing luck. I do hope you guys shi$kick Stuart's Draft. I like seeing scores where you hammer those 2A schools and the mouthy ones in 1A in the far East where the Northern Neck spins it's annual hype machine only to lose to you guys again seemingly every year in the playoffs.
  18. In my opinion, yes, Galax is much better than Chilhowie, and I mean by a lot. Keep in mind, Galax and Riverheads have a common opponent in Glenvar. Galax wins by 3 at Glenvar. Riverheads wins by 17 at home, hosting Glenvar. That's a 14 point diffetential, but take away the Galax travel and Riverheads hosting with Glenvar, and that drops it 7-10 points in my book. What I'm saying is, it's not out of the realm of possibility. This Galax team would beat Chilhowie handily. Galax lost to Northside by 14 and Northside lost by only 7 to Salem. Again, in the realm of possibility it is for Galax. Cal Preps has Riverheads and Galax in favor of Riverheads by 11 points last I checked. Riverheads, a favorite, but could Galax pull it off? Yes they could. Their good enough with some turnovers and a special teams play or two to pull it off. No offense to you, and I give Riverheads all the credit as they are solid, but they play in a shi$show of a district. I'm sorry, but I've heard that 1-81 Shenandoah Valley hyoe machine for years up there. Not Riverheads, but with the general area. Heck, they had people believing on this board last year that East Rock wasn't just 14 points better than Graham, but that they were faster when they had 1-2 kids on the team that could run a forty under 4.8. If Riverheads played the 2A teams down here each year like Union, Graham, Richlands, Ridgeview, Giles on most years or God forbid they try to tackle the beast across the border, they would chalk up some regular season W's. But, a powerhouse for sure and the best size for size in the last decade in the state of VA. If they played 2A which is their size, they are a top 5-6 2A team with 1 title, maybe two. Only my opinion, but I can literally feel the Stuart's Draft 1-81 Shenandoah Valley Hype Machine roaring up right now. They will go undefeated up there through game 12 and possibly to the finals, but get ready, by the time they are 12-0, they will have everybody convinced that "this is surely the team." I've heard for years with Lee Staunton, Clarke, Wilson Memorial, East Rock and even Draft in the past. They take turns each year with the 1-81 hype machine only not to win state championships.
  19. Depends on how one defines bloodbath. When Dahmer was eating people, that was a blood bath, but you can easily see a bloodbath could be a one sided situation.
  20. Dude, since you are an Appy guy, a true story for you that makes this a small world. I would stay with a local guy and his wife when I would go down that way for derailments which was about 5 times. He was older than me, but was kind of the local railroad host, him and his wife when I would go to Andover and that area in the early 90s for derailments. His son played on two Appy state title teams I think in 91 and 93 or 92 and 94ish, and he started on the line for three seasons. I lost contact with this local dude by 1995. We just fell out of touch as I left the railroad. Fast forward to 2018 and I get a condo at the beach. I'm moving my stuff in and the wife and I are getting it ready for renting and a guy offers us help moving some stuff in and boom, it's him. He lives next door. He and his wife had lived at the beach for 19 years. I hadn't seen him in nearly 25 years and out of the blue, there he is. My wife and I just went to the beach this past Saturday and returned yesterday. The first thing he asked me this time was, "what happened to them G-Men." I knew he would go there, but oh well, a good dude. He's a lot older now, and a die-hard Union guy that follows them closely.
  21. Agree, and dang, my bad bro, I got a touch carried away and to philosophical dabbling in the Bolsheviks, lol. In some of these articles and stories like this one, we may never know the fully story. For example, was the person or people that had the ability to decide and enforce the punishment have some beef with the kids father. Is the father a town ahole or live beside the person enforcing the punishment and they fight over trees and BS like that? Not saying it is, but sometimes stuff coming out like this has underpinnings like above. Either way, it's sad.
  22. Railroad to be specific, old Andover yard many years ago a few times on derailments.
  23. Thanks for clarifying that on Battle. That makes sense, but with the city of Bristol, VA, being 17kish, it makes it more complicated for me to understand VA High. 17 thousand is a LOT. I find it nearly dam$ impossible to have 17K and only enough numbers to field a 2A school. I mean, where the he$$ do the kids go? There's no way you can have a population of 17K and only have ...say approximately 650 students? If the city is Independent and there isn't a huge private High School there and no universities as King U sets in TN, and the kids in the county and outside of Bristol go to Battle, then what is the deal? It looks like VA High really does have a population of 17 K to feed from. I get it, they don't get county kids and only Bristol City, but Even a school like Union, Tazewell, or Graham pulling their own town and county kids, that total population to feed from isn't close to 17 K. It's not even half of it. So again, never could I figure out Bristol, Va, and VA High being that small in numbers. Still haven't understood it. Is it the oldest town in the USA? Weird.
