  1. More Final Scores Amelia 50, Atlavista 7. Amelia advances to 3-0 on the season in Region A. Clarke County 13, Central Woodstock 7. Clarke County moves to 3-0 in Region B, and Central Woodstock, suffers its first loss of the season Martinsville beats Dan River 31-28 in a Region C rivalry game and moves to 2-1 on the season. Thomas Jefferson of Richmond wins 25-8 over Greensville County who remains winless. TJ, a region A school moves to 3-1 on the season with Amelia as its only loss.
  2. Final from Radford, VA. Galax 34, Radford 27. King William 65, Carolina 6 Poquoson 14, Tabb 7
  3. Men, excuse me if I got some typos in this message. My wife is driving while I'm riding shotgun and typin. Just wanted to say those boys on the field tonight were studs. Two great teams with great coaches and great fans. Men, there is no way I'm handing Appo a title yet. That's one of the better High School games I've seen in a while with that ending. It was just knock out blow after knock out blow. The fans at Mitchell were nice. I met a bunch of Bluefield Beaver fans and got to see a few from Giles and Narrows (Giles County was in the house up there). Great atmosphere. Oh yea, my car (vehicle) was a near miss. My wife is much faster than me and she got that puppy out of there before the "tide" came in. I always love the tip to Bluefield. We did Trents Grocery this time, which for you folks in Bluefield that used to hang out or party on Wilderness Road, that's the little Grocery/Grill that's known as one of the key locations related to murder on the Appalachian trail and for the somewhat recent shooting of the two guys from Bluefield in 2008 by Randall Lee Smith. Trent's was one of his hangouts, and if you are really old like me, Trents was also the hangout of suspected Serial Killer George Bird, the psychopath from Bland County that did his damage in the 70's. Anyway, Trents has some darn good pizza and Trents is still open, after all these years. Hats off to both Union and Graham. That was quite a show. I don't think I will be voting the Bobcats over either one of you guys very soon in the top 10 poll. Both teams are light years ahead of Radford right now and both teams, whether they know it or not, are actually right there with Appo, and I'm talking about the healthy Appo, not the injured one.
  4. Farmers is good. It's on the West side of Bluefield, WV very close to Virginia/border.
  5. Man, that's a sharp uni. I agree man, especially the away with white top/khaki in your picture.
  6. I was told we might have one of our top lineman out this morning. We got lots of speed and athleticism on the outside with depth, but the starting line is pretty good, but doesn't have much depth. Galax seems to be always strong on the line, so this could hurt us a bunch if he is out. Safe travels for the folks coming from down around route 58.
  7. I recall Nick Colobro's years at GC when GC went from the Royal or Gate City Blue to Carolina Blue for many years, then they switched back to the regular GC blue
  8. Many decades ago, when I played against the GMen, they wore Khaki colored bottoms with cardinal colored tops at home. On the road, Khaki pants with white tops. It was a cool and sharp uni. I noticed this looking back through old pics yesterday. Don't know if GMen do the Khaki pants now.
  9. At a normal school, Satterfield would also be the best players on that team's offense, but Union isn't normal.
  10. Hey guys, where has Jenkins been offered? I'm happy for this kid because he's a stud. I didn't know Jenkins has D1 offers. Where and what are his offers. He's a stud. It's pretty scary to have three guys of the caliber than can hawl the pigskin. Also, question for Union folks. Who is faster, Satterfield or Jenkins?
  11. Exactly, for me, it would be like buying a subscription for Penthouse and having the Lack of enough nudity.
  12. No dog in the Fight, but if your going by D1 recruits with 2 of Graham's and the other 9, then we have to remember for Union it can be Lomax and the other 10. He is Div 1, so the GMen aren't the only team in the contest with a D1 recruit.
  13. Most of the non Graham, non Union fans will be setting on Unions side. Whatever Union doesn't bring due to the Thursday pm time and distance, that amount will look like it didn't exist due to the neutral fans that will set on Unions side Minus the Bluefield Beavers fans. The folks in Bluefield, I love em, but they are fickle about Graham and Beaver. They hate each other that week and for that game, but they come together.like Siamese twins when the two are Not playing one another. I would bet most of the Bluefield, WV, Beaver fans are setting on Graham's side. They know each other, they are brothers and sisters, husband's and wives and when they are Not battling it out, they really do see themselves as one Bluefield.
  14. I know I couldn't do a 2 plus hour trip on a Thursday night. For Union fans, it's not just getting there somehow as quickly as possible after getting off work, it's having to go to work Friday and getting back super late. The reason for the high (non Union-Graham fan) turnout is not just because it's the only game on the slate, but it's because they know the opponent coming to Bluefield is the real deal and has a history to back it up. Not that the GMen are shabby, but folks from Radford to Tazewell have seen Graham many times, but not Union. I'm riding up with 4 friends and we are meeting up with another 5-6 Giles/Raddy/Pulaski fan combos. There's always some intrigue about climbing up on the mountain to Bluefield, especially when we get to eat at Dolly's Diner in Princeton.
  15. Princeton game now cancelled with Linsly. Going to be on my guess, at least 1000 "others" in attendance with distances ranging from here in Radford, through Princeton, Bluefield, WV, Tazewell, and probably as far as Richlands. I would be surprised if less than 1000 not Graham or Union fans. 1000 might be on the low side I estimation.
  16. I don't have a ton of money by any means, but I would put up 50 bucks to see this High School Game. Kid ya not so help me on that Real Sach, if I got up there and they said 50 bucks to see it, I would pay it, and I ain't somebody with deep pockets by any stretch.
  17. Mikehawk, I want to ask you this and have no dog in the fight. My brother officiates in Carolina in High School and at the NAIA level. I've always asked him this queston with the following premise. It is...99.99 percent of fans in the stands do not know the rules or officiating at the level of the officials on the field who are trained and educated in officiating. I get that and accept that, but.......here's the question........because the above that I have already mentioned, does this mean a fan has no moral right to an opinion about how the game was officiated? Is the answer somewhere in the middle, not at all, all the time, etc. I'm curious what you think and I will tell you what my brother's opinion is. His opinion is that fans should certainly voice their opinions even though they aren't officials, and he's under the understanding that fans usually get it wrong, BUT.....they don't Always get it wrong, and it's always good to error on the side of at least having an opinion, whether valid, invalid, accurate inaccurate, etc. It at least puts the discussion on the table because it does help in the checks and balances department, helps maintain integrity of officiating, quality improvement, actually is beneficial to the officials. I'm curious on what you think and I don't have a dog in the fight man. I just love Football.
  18. Graham gave up 308 rushing yards against Union. Now, if Bradshaw plays, I believe he extends a few more of Graham's offensive possessions and maybe even forces Union to throw some more as he likely catches at least 1 TD at some point in the game, or makes at least one explosive play in the game for a score. Appo can testify to that. Also, lets say Bradshaw plays and take away the last play with the Satterfield run. Was it like 60 yds or something. Still, even if we were to subtract with Bradshaw playing and take away the Satterfield run, Union is still gashing Graham on the ground in this game as has at least 220 yds rushing. No doubt though, no telling what happens if Bradshaw played. Maybe Union runs it even More to keep it away from him and has More rushing yds. What I'm sayin is, Union gashed Graham on the ground. It's very, very rare that a team that gives up 300 rushing yds wins a football game. The battle up front will decide this game. Graham smashed Union in 2018's playoffs up front. Interesting to see if there is a big difference or turn around from the spring. If this game starts with Union coming out and getting 3 first downs simply by rushing off tackle against Graham without throwing, it's a bad, bad sign for Graham. This was exactly the case last year from the very first quarter. If Graham comes out and early on, Bradshaw makes an explosive scoring play and Union is hit in the backfield or gains few to no yards and gets a 3 and out with its first possession, it's a bad, bad sign for Union. I'm going to be watching this thing live. I'm heading up to Bluefield to see it on Thursday cause this is about as good as it gets at the 2A level. Probably 2 of the 3 top teams in AA, and no question in my mind, 2 of the top 5 teams without argument.
  19. Over/Under on the game being played. This is a huge game. It just seems like any game in High School that is huge just can't be played, or can't be all that it's supposed to be. This just seems the way the world is with Covid. Whether it's news Wednesday that Covid has struck, or one or both teams will have a few players that are key players that can't play and handicaps that team, it just seems like something will happen. I will be shocked of we make it to Thursday afternoon without some negative news. I know I sound negative and hate to sound negative, but it just seems like this happens over and over with Covid and huge games.
  20. Well, this right here is going to tell me much about my team. We are playing a nasty opponent that is well coached, busts you in the face, and has talent and skill. Gate City punched us in the face and we barely recovered. Galax can and will punch harder. For Radford, we have as much talent on this team as we did in the 2018 year that beat Appomattox. We may have more, BUT.....that is not the same thing as being as good. Our team at this point is physically not as tough as it needs to be. Nothing in toughness like 2018. It has the potential to be. Radford really has a high ceiling this year with our skill and speed, but reaching that ceiling is a tall task because it requires mental toughness and we do not yet have the mental toughness of the team from 2018. This game is just going to be a toss up in my opinion. It will tell us much more about how well the Bobcats have the chance to do come playoff time. We Quietly did look our best of the season against Fort Chiswell. That's a good sign.
  21. Lafayette would battle pretty good with them. Lafayette is supposed to be really good again coming off a state title. Few seem to be talking about em on Vapreps, but they got a good chance to repeat
  22. I hear what you are saying Ryan. I can definitely see that side of it also and it makes sense to me. I was just trying to think about what might the Graham coaches were thinking. If I had to bet, the decision to keep starters in was fueled by the thought of two words, Union Bears. But I can't get inside nobody's head on it. I don't for sure have any idea.
  23. If your the Graham coaching staff, you have the juggernaut Bears coming to town and you are trying to nail down details, as in not getting self inflicted off sides, false starts, motion penalties. I can understand having starters in the 4th of 35-0 IF I'm not throwing/trying to score, but trying to build cohesiveness in prep for Union. For example, Graham has used 2 QB's and was down to 1 with Richlands. Those snap counts, play calling, signals, all matter as I'm sure the Graham coaching staff at that point is thinking Union Bears What do we need to work on without trying to score? Also, you are thinking, the game is minus one practice as it's a short week if I'm not mistaken (Thursday game) so you are really trying to button down the hatch. I watched the first half of that game on my phone. That game could have been 50 to nothing if the Graham coaches wanted to have poured it on. Graham purposely left about 2 touchdowns on the field in my opinion.
  24. The QB for Graham is very, very accurate to me. I know Graham has shuffled QB's some and I'm sure both are solid. The kid that played tonight through the ball on the money. If he is normally this accurate, Graham even gets scarier. I've watched Graham play a bunch on NFHS over the past few years and I'm not saying the kid at QB tonight for Graham is as dynamic as 2 former D1 recruits in Allen and Lester. Also, the kid in the spring was good, but as far as Accuracy, and getting the ball from point A to point B for one single game, that's the most Accurate performance (not the best, not the fastest) but most Accurate in the air for a Graham QB I've seen in a while. Maybe it was a one game thing. I don't know. If the kid is normally that accurate, it really creates problems for opponents compounded on what they already have to deal with. I thought Graham was supposed to take a step back at QB this year with the loss of their senior QB from spring, but it appears to me they are actually better at QB.
  25. Final Scores Heritage 56, Appomattox 13 Fluvanna 24, Buckingham 18. For all the 2A schools playing so far this week and their final scores, this one is up there as biggest surprise. Appo getting hammered by Heritage is expected considering Appo is playing with almost half of a JV team on the field due to injuries, Covid, etc. Something like 9-10 starters down or something of that nature. Glenvar 28, Cave Spring 14, Glenvar quietly setting at 3 and 0 on the season with wins over Galax, Martinsville, and Cave Spring Glenvar and Radford actually have a reasonably good chance to outpoint Appo in Region C. With it's injuries and difficult schedule, it's possible Appo could actually enter the playoffs as the 3 seed. If they are healthy, it wouldn't matter if they were the 8th seed, but where it matters is.............Graham, Union, Ridgeview, Region D. The higher power points team would host in the semi's and you may see Appo hosting game one of the playoffs, then traveling in games 2, 3, and 4.
