  1. About now, if your the GMen, your thinking about that missed extra point that's the difference in the game right now
  2. Now with only 1.27 left, you have to throw it at least some, and Tazewell knows that. Graham may get it, but should of and had the chance to put them away with 2.5 minutes left. Now, you put yourself with little time and the chances for OT where anything can happen. I'm amazed by that call with the pass on 2nd and 5 at the Tazewell 16.
  3. Neutral fan from Giles here with no team in the fight, just watching a great game, but a DISASTER FILLED decision by the Graham coaching staff that could cost them the game. On 2nd and 5 from the Tazewell 16, you have been gashing them running the ball down field and Tazewell can't stop the run. He intends a pass to the flat and it's incomplete, then the next play, he runs the QB to the hash for the inexperienced kicker. That decision may cost Graham the football game. I said this earlier in the Tazewell vs Graham thread, can Graham be patient enough with the run. Meaning.....can the Graham coaching staff be patient with the run. They answered that right there. Major mistake. They may escape it, but an absolutely huge offensive coaching mistake by Graham.
  4. Officials are taking this game over. Have done a great job, and now call an ill advised PF on Tazewell. Two game changing penalties for both teams in which I didn't see the need for a flag on either call.
  5. Perfectly called officiating game so far in my opinion......until that call on the Blevins run. Poor effort by the officials there.
  6. That's heart by Tazewell and very, very similar to Richlands in the mid 4th. Tazewell got punched in the face and they get the ball at their own 35ish, and everyone in the stadium knows they are running the ball. What do they do? Exactly what they did to Richlands. The run the ball 10 straight plays for a TD (almost). That's absolutely demoralizing to a defense. It also shows Tazewell ability to run when they need to. When they absolutely have to, and they do! But Graham isn't Richlands this year. Graham holds for the field goal and this thing continues to be a dogfight (pun intended). Great game man!!!!
  7. That QB option to read the Defensive End is eating Graham alive. Appo did the same to Graham in the playoffs. Graham is biting on that fake and Nunley is reading it perfectly.
  8. Wow. Great opening by Graham. This is one heck of a contest. I actually think Tazewell out athleted Graham in the first half and that the lineplay was even up. Graham held its own with Tazewell. In the second half, Graham has dominated the line of scrimmage, but two Tazewell turnovers inside their own 30 is self destruction at the complete level.
  9. Wow, another gashing hole created by Meadows
  10. Brody Meadows just showed why he's Major Div 1 on the Graham TD run. Two Tazewell defenders including one defensive tackle pancaked.
  11. Great game and I picked the Dogs, but I wouldn't call it a "beatdown." Key turnovers in key moments and one big play have been the difference. I think Tazewell holds on and wins, but it's not over yet.
  12. But, lets be honest, Bradshaw can't get his feet planted. The speed factor for him and his prowess is clearly affected by the playing surface and there's no question that is a factor, but........two teams are playing on it, not one.
  13. Great game so far. I had Tazewell winning the game by 3 points in the Tazewell thread. Tazewell in my opinion, and contrary to what I thought and contrary to the Graham announcers, has not dominated the line of scrimmage on Graham. I think Graham has played them even up on the line of scrimmage and its a draw. The difference in the game has been the one athletic play by Tazewell and exactly what I touched on with Graham, that they would have a problem in the passing game with tighter coverage, and what would the QB do in that situation. Do you throw the ball up in the air or in triple coverage, or throw it away or tuck and run. The game has been a very good one, but I think Graham has held it's own on the line against Tazewell. The problem for Graham is......Tazewell has held its own against them on the line, and they are BLANKETING Graham in coverage in the passing game and Tazewell's WR's are MUCH more wide open than Grahams.
  14. NFHS fails......no Graham vs Tazewell yet, and the game has been going for 10 minutes
  15. I will go respectful different direction. I think they can. I am amazed with how well Central is coached. They seem to me to be coached at a level beyond the overwhelming majority of their opponents. The blocking is textbook. The positioning on defense is textbook. A team like Central that can truly run it well and run it when they have to and play great run defense is a threat. I favor Graham slightly, but not by over 7 points. Tazewell, I would call it equal. Central matches up better with Graham than Tazewell. The size difference can wear on you and in a smashmouth run type game, Tazewell will be very tough to beat.
  16. Warwick could have scored more if they had guy at QB named Vick playing for them
  17. Graham in this situation before. Nearly 32 years ago, a young Tony Palmer, one of the leaders, seniors, and two way starters of the great 89 team went on the road to face Randy Lawrence and Christiansburg. The game started and the first half played, and then the game postponed due to severe weather It required the G-Men to go home, and return to Christiansburg on a Monday night to finish the second half. Graham led 3-0 at the half and when Graham returned Monday evening for the second half of the game to be played, it scored 2 TD's and beat Christiansburg 17-0 for the final score. Eric Robinson, one of the Graham radio guys was also a star and senior on the 89 team who played Defensive End. Tony has been in this situation before and I'm sure its gone through the back of his mind on wanting to play this game today and not returning to the opponents place at a later date like Graham did with Christiansburg in 89. I don't suspect much advantage for either team here, but if there is one, it's advantage Graham. Tony has been in this situation. Graham waited 1.5 hours after the half was over in Christiansburg before officials made the decision to postpone it, so he has an idea of what to do. I'm not listening to the Graham radio broadcast, but I am sure Eric Robinson has probably already brought up the Christiansburg event in 1989, a year in which Graham won a state title.
  18. What happens if Graham loses to Tazewell, then beats Richlands the final game. Is Graham in?
  19. Tazewell by 3 pts. Calpreps says 27-21 Graham. Graham wins if they are patient with the run. Graham will not have WRs running wide open this game. The coverage will be much tighter. The passing game will not be simple for Graham, which asks the question of whether Graham is patient with the run. This game will be decided by penalties and turnovers. Graham will have it's hands full on the line of scrimmage. I'm going to pick Tazewell to win the game by 3 points.
  20. Wouldn't be a surprise. You play and battle equally, and minus a turnover, have a chance to beat Riverheads, then any game you win at the 1A or 2A level in Virginia is not an upset. Riverheads, I hate to say it, really is that good. I think if Tazewell and Richland's played again, the score would be worse now that Tazewell has accomplished the mental hurdle. The best thing for Graham would be to come out and score 2 quick scores on Tazewell. That would be a mental task to much to overcome. If Tazewell has that game tied at halftime, Graham I think will be in trouble. I think the Dogs ready available talent this year, with all those seniors, when looking at all 22 starters (most players playing both ways of course) is right there with Graham. Next yr, big drop off for Tazewell, but this season, they are as talented as any 2A team in Virginia, including Appo and Stuart's Draft.
  21. A game 2-3 yrs ago where Tazewell is in a close one with Lebanon and close because a couple of athletes were hurt and an injury or two, etc. This yrs Tazewell team is legit up front, on the line of scrimmage, and they don't have to out athlete a Lebanon for a win. They can dominate the line of scrimmage and overcome a turnover or lackluster athlete type game and win by gashing an opponent off tackle. Tazewell's improvement is remarkable and the Bulldogs are good enough to actually win a state title. I favor Graham in a close one, but Tazewell has the athletes with the line play to give Graham and Central fits and make it a very close game. If Tazewell's players gets it in their heads that they are not just improved, better, back, or competitive, but actually believes their talent is as good or better, they might represent Region D.
  22. Tells me Tazewell is not just very good, but may beat Graham. They are that good. Draft played Appo about as good as Graham did last year and was pasted by Riverheads in regular season. Riverheads is supposed to be slightly better this year with Draft being much better. For Tazewell to travel there at the Reds and almost winning the game, it speaks to Tazewell not just being back to 80s form. It tells me Graham and Tazewell is a tossup, slight favor to Graham though.
  23. Tells me Central is very good.
  24. Riverheads last game of season is at Stuarts Draft who played for state title last year and returned 19 out of 22 starters.. Calpreps projects it at 27-26.
