We owned property in the Dryden area, the rates may be lower but the assessment are way over valued , UNLESS you have big political ties , the average home has $10000 added while a massive cattle farm is taxed at the same value. My home here in BSG is valued at 250,000 and if it were in Dryden it would be 280000. Little man gets the old screwing while JR with 4000 cattle makes bank
Lee County hadn't had a reassessment that was completed since 2016. The assessment that was recently completed brought values back in line with the market. Land and structures both received increases, so a massive cattle farm wouldn't be taxed at the same value as it was in previous years. Everyone got hit with an increase with the new reassessment. Since the pandemic, house and real estate prices have skyrocketed. Houses in the county were undervalued for the last 6 years.

Just a few words about the budget, last year the county had to barrow/ find money from other places to make the budget ($70,000) to suit the Superintendent’s budget) the county has set aside the same $$$$ as last year budget but now the Superintendent wants 1 million more, so he is talking the closing B/S to put pressure on the county, but why you ask? ….his bonus and others $$$$ . Here is an ideal , eliminate his bonus , offer early retirement to those who want to retire and send all the good athletes to Union , we may even find some N I L money ….. the last part was a joke , but the bonuses are the truth
I'm not sure where you get your info, but I would really question it if I were you. The BOS proposed not to fund the "At Risk" portion of the school boards budget, and with that decision, the school system will lose out on about $7,500,000 worth of state funds. Basically, if the county put up $1,500,000, the state would kick in $7,500,000. The BOS doesn't want to fund that, so the schools don't get the $7,500,000. Has nothing to do with any "bonus". It's about not getting the money to help fund an essential program, so they will have to look at other ways to come up with the funds, which unfortunately means possibly closing schools.

Sneedville is a pretty good haul from the Ewing/Rose Hill Metroplex. Even further than Ben Hur. Someone mentioned JF White Academy. I had forgotten them, and maybe that's the 3rd school that @TwhscoachT was talking about.
I don't know that many would want to pay the tuition to go to J Frank White.

Maybe so, I didnt know JF White Academy existed.
Sneedville is a haul but for some of the TW kids on the TN border it would have to be closer than Lee High., or at least similar. With some of the animosity toward Lee in Lower End I imagine some kids will go that route, and 15-30 kids could make a huge difference between 2/3
I don't understand why they have animosity towards Lee High.

The previous ADM numbers the VHSL uses had Lee at 471 and TW at 171. Combined which I imagine is a lower number than reality is 648. Abingdon was 634.
What are the enrollment thresholds for each classification?

Just a thought, but may be a little far fetched. If TW is shut down, I wouldn't be surprised if LMU started a university school similar to ETSU and some other universities have. I don't know the logistics of that, but just a thought.
They already kinda have one. J Frank White Academy

What's up the road for our teams? Who makes a run at a state title?
John Battle baseball appears to be in position to make a run, but anything can happen in single elimination. Lebanon is finding ways to win, and is experienced at the state level, can they keep it going?
What about softball? Stud pitchers seem to rule at the state level. Eastside has two D-1 pitchers, is this their year? Burton has a good pitcher too, but are inexperienced at the state level. Can either Central or Lee make a run?
How good is Eastside baseball?
Battle and Lebanon are going to be tough outs. Should be a great game tonight.
Eastside does have two D-1 pitchers, but one has been hurt. I think she is back to pitching now, but I don't know how effective she is. Burton does have a good pitcher, but I don't think they are good enough at the plate.
The winner of Lee/Central tonight will have a better shot than the loser. Loser will more than likely have to travel to Appomattox. They have two D1 commits that pitch for them. Both juniors. It should be a good game tonight. Can Central shake the fact that Lee has thumped them the past two times they played? Can Lee overcome how difficult it is to beat a good team three times in a row?

Richlands returns all of their starters. We’re all freshman and sophomores. But say all you want about our girls hitting. We faced some of the best this year and they do in travel as well. We might not be strong from top to bottom consistently but they're good and young. We were one of only a handful of teams to even score on Eastside with 2 d1 pitchers. Just go compare some scores if you're gonna say something like that. Lee's offense didnt impress me if thats what you're going by. They could only score 6 on tazewell and 5 were in the first inning. Good luck to Lee and Central, but I dont see Lee getting by with the 30+ seconds per pitch in the state tournament like they do around here. This isn't travel ball.
Trust me, I’ve seen that group for years, so I know a little about them. Even in travel ball, offense isn’t their strong suit. I’m sorry, but you can’t compare the pitching top to bottom in the two districts. In the M7, it was a battle every night. It would have been a major upset if Richlands didn’t finish second in the regular season in the SW. They did what they were supposed to do. But this time of year, lack of offense will show up

Lee and Central both advance after beating two quality teams in Lebanon and Richlands. Should give the edge to Lee but Central has been playing good ball
It should be a good game. The region tournament showed the difference between the two districts. Richlands had no offense, especially against the better teams on their schedule. You would think that with as many travel ball helmets that stepped into the box, they would have been a little better at the plate

Yes I know that but how are the rest of the seeds decided? Is where the teams finished in the regular season going to be their seeds for region play? Outside of #1 seed for SWD the tournament is what determines seeding for region tourney. Like since central just got beat by GC does that mean central is done?
Regular season finish is most of it and district tourney is a small part of it too. For instance, on the softball side, Union was the 3rd seed for region going into the district tournament. If they win the tournament, then they would jump Central for the 2 seed.

Can anybody explain how the M7 does their seeding for region. I know how SWD does it and was curious if they do it a different way because of Abingdon
Abingdon gets thrown out and the top Class 2 team is the #1 seed.

Union beats Central 3-1 in 9 innings (softball)

I think the Mountain 7 and the Southwest District ought to make a trade.
Mountain 7 trades Ridgeview for Marion.
That way the Southwest District has a great hosting spot for a region tournament with Virginia High and the Mountain 7 has a hosting spot for the region tournament at UVA Wise or Marion. Marion has great seating also.
If there is a trade between the two districts, it should be Abingdon for Virginia High

Got some clarification on my previous statement of pitching DH and being taken out. She had pitched either two days in a row of the Kingsport tournament or both games in one day, so dad told the coach she needed a break and he wanted her to not pitch the next game/day. Coaches took her out of the lineup completely and didn't let her play at all so Dad got mad and she just quit all together.
She pitched two days in a row prior to the tournament, and her dad said he didn't want her to pitch the next day and rest. So the coach didn't put her in the lineup Friday. She didn't show up Saturday and quit Monday.

Big night for softball in the Mountain 7. Central plays at Abingdon, Ridgeview plays at Lee, and Union plays at Battle.

She was POY last year as a sophomore and statistically had better numbers this season. Although I was surprised that she got it rather than the girl from Botetourt, it was deserved. The team was inconsistent this season with big games against powerhouses but losing to weaker teams. Losing Seymore inside hurt and they couldn't replace that physical play. They were only 6-7 deep at most but they still beat state champion GW in preseason and regular season fairly easy, beat Wise twice, lost a close game to Ridgeview on a night they shot lights out from 25ft+ (14 threes), lost by single digits once to Botetourt (3A state champs) and lost by 7 to William Fleming (5A runner up). They lost to Gate City twice because of coach's game management. Blew a 15 pt lead with 4 minutes left when he subbed out 3 starters including Trivette because he got mad at her. The M7 has been the toughest girls' basketball district in the state since its inception. No other district consistently has multiple region and state contenders. Next season may be the weakest it will be because every team loses the bulk of their talent. If Trivette stays, Abingdon should be at the top. Union has the most players coming back. Central will have Moore and the other young players moving up. Ridgeview, Battle, Gate City, and Lee will all struggle unless we see transfers.
Central will have Moore and whatever transfer they bring in. There is already talks of phone calls being made to some players in the area

I don't have a clue if she's still on the team i don't even know who she is, but the east game was on 3/20 where she pitched a no hitter and hit 2 homers, the next day would be the double header with Wopi bristol radio tweeting it's against West Ridge and Dobyns Bennett, but coacht is the TN website and it's showing the double header was against John Battle and Dobyns Bennett which they lost both
Sorry, I meant 3/20. Was doing two things at once and didn't proofread lol. The next day was the start of the East TN Classic, and she didn't play in either game on 3/21. The last game she played was 3/20. The rumor is that she was told they wanted to rest her and didn't put her in the lineup on 3/21, so she got pissed and left the team.

Actually heard the opposite, heard she pitched a double header and asked to be taken out the 2nd game and they said no so she said I'm out
They haven't played a double header, so I question that info. She pitched against Sullivan East on 3/15 and hasn't been in the lineup since. And that was a run rule game against Sullivan East where she only threw 65 pitches.

I've heard she quit the team. Can anyone confirm this? Ive looked at their past 4 or 5 games and shes not in the stats anywhere. And theyve been dropping several of their last few games. I've heard a couple different reasons if true but don't care to repeat them here as I dont know the story, and doesnt really matter to me. But I was looking forward to our girls facing her. Wouldve been great for our kids
Heard that the coaches wanted to rest her and pulled her from the lineup last week and she got mad and quit.

So 2 VHSL Girls POTY come from the Mountain 7. Any doubt what the toughest district in girls basketball is?
