  1. [ QUOTE ] Big D, wished you were there, Had three School Board members show up like they were truly interested, not quite the same as it was at the TCSB meeting the other night. [/ QUOTE ] They were not interesred...only trying to save their a$$e$...it was all politics...you know - handshaking, baby kissing...so you got a new shower tree out of it...a far cry from a new field house...keep the pressure on them...they are only trying to make themselves not look quite as bad as they actually are...remember, we still hold the power come election time...

  3. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Game Ball to Freddie Simon Jr!! I assume he was the one who made the switch to the T formation. After the switch Bluefield was very succesful on the ground. McClanahan also hit some big passes tonight and seems to be a bit more comfortable. [/ QUOTE ] Game Ball taken away from Freddie, Jr....went away from the T-formation in the second half and the offense struggled...runs between the tackles with the Clydesdales were killing Mount View...runs around the end with the race horses=negative yardage...Mount View has tremendous speed but is not physical...smashmouth football=success against the Knights...just my opinion... [/ QUOTE ] They only went away from the T for a few plays. Mt. View was able to contain the T a little better in the 2nd half. Gotta question the play calling of the Mt View coaching staff. Seemed to me the sweep with the High kid was somewhat successful and they went away from it. [/ QUOTE ] They went away from the T almost the entire second half...they ran out of the power I and gave the ball to the Brooks kid most of the time. It would have been fine giving the ball to Brooks out of the power I if they slammed the line with the Clydesdales and Brooks following them. However, when they ran out of the Power I, one fullback would go one direction, the other fullback would go another direction, and Brooks would go a third direction and get stacked up at the line. The only success Bluefield had running the halfbacks last night was when the HB followed the Clydesdales...the off-tackle play with the Horses leading the way worked great out of the T.
  4. [ QUOTE ] It's called censorship..... [/ QUOTE ] No, its called "not allowing this place to turn into WVSPN and TriStatePreps". We are much less tolerant of BS than others...

  8. [ QUOTE ] Does Mr. Ron Myers' have the nickname of "Homer?" [/ QUOTE ] "Homer Myers"...hmmm, that's kinda catchy!!!
  9. Welcome to the board gatorrdawgg!!! This is a nice place to "escape" to from the stuff on that other board. Nothing against the guys who run TriStatePreps, but they really need to get a handle on the garbage on the message board. I would hate to see them go the way of WVSPN...which I didn't mind seeing "crash and burn"...gosh I miss Jim Workman...NOT!!!!
  10. Yes, district champs automatically qualify for the playoffs. However, they are seeded based solely on ratings points.
  11. I thought it was funny... --- Radio4ron@aol.com wrote: My name is Ron Myers and I broadcast high school football on 3WR sports radio in the Roanoke Valley. I was recently with clear channel (ESPN) the last 9 years. I try to keep a very open mind with web sites (Va. Preps, this site and many others) and never put much thought into what is printed. Your sweet 16 picks just seem to rub me the wrong way. I would like to know how many of these teams you have seen play that makes you the expert to pick these in the order you have picked them. First....to have Liberty picked #1 is so far off the cuff. With the injuries they have they will be lucky to get thru through the season 7-3. Then Richlands at #2 is just what the sportswriters and coaches want you to believe. They have played no one and will play no one until week 13 when they face Hidden Valley or Cave Spring. If you are going to pick a sweet 16 then this is much more accurate than (w. Wilson???? James Monroe????? J.I.Burton(where did this one come from??????) #1. Salem (13 game winning streak-which includes hanging 45 on Richlands last year on that mud tract they call a field) and by the way this salem team is far better than last years. #2 Amherst . #3 Richlands (only because Region 4 DIv. 3 is weaker than 4 times strained tea bags). Hidden Valley, and this team is loaded!!!!!! 5. Libert. 6. Fleming and M. Vista Tied. #7 Glenvar...they will beat Giles...this game could be over at halftime. 8. Cave Spring.. this team is solid, but they have no fire power on offens #9 Giles...what can you say about the chicken wing offense. #10. thru 16... does it really matter. Its like comparing steak to potted possum. Come on guys.... if you expect us the web site reader to take you serious, please put a little more effort into picking these teams. The G-Man replied: Being a bit "Roanoke" biased with YOUR picks, aren't you Ron??? Liberty will finish no worse than 9-1. The ONLY chance they have to lose a game, despite their injuries, is against Amherst Co....and Amherst Co. is awful good this year. Go ahead and think that Richlands isn't the real deal...this team is VERY GOOD...PERIOD...especially on defense!!! BTW, I know it was only a scrimmage, but Richlands did smack Pulaski Co. in the mouth before the season started. No way is this year's Salem team better than last year's. Granted they are good, and as the saying goes "you have to beat the Champs, to be the Champs". Well, here is a news flash Ron...the "champs" will be beaten during the regular season...maybe twice. As you said, Hidden Valley is "loaded" and I think you are overlooking a Pulaski Co. team that is getting healthy again. As for Woodrow Wilson (from Beckley, WV...WV AAA school), they are loaded this year too! They are currently ranked #1 in WV AAA and really haven't had a "close" game yet in spite of a fairly difficult WV schedule. Again, I know it was only a scrimmage but this is the only way I can relate it to you, Woodrow absolutely THROTTLED a pretty good Rockbridge Co. team in the preseason. Don't knock the small schools, Ron. J.I. Burton is as tough as they get and for a Division 1 school, is very good this season. Anytime a team goes 7-0 to start the season in the Lonesome Pine District, they've got to be given their props. You have your opinions and I have mine and obviously, you can't get past your "Roanoke Valley" biasedness to give the schools in SWVA any respect. Sincerely, The G-Man PS Somebody must be taking my website seriously...its had over 2 million hits since August 1st...I don't guess I am putting enough effort into it...have a nice day! PSS Keep the emails coming...I need a good laugh to get me through the day! Thanks!!!
  12. [ QUOTE ] I agree with g-man.. the prison will create alot of jobs but i don't see it bringing a huge population to this area. I know atleast 25 people that are employeed "building" it right now and they're all from here. [/ QUOTE ] Finally!!! We agree on something!!!
  13. Didn't vote in the poll...besides I could "rig" it if I wanted to...
  14. [ QUOTE ] That is terrible... But how do you die from that? That may sound like im being mean but it is an honest question. [/ QUOTE ] You ever seen someone's head hit pavement???
  15. [ QUOTE ] not very many taz people either [/ QUOTE ] More than you think...
  16. [ QUOTE ] I will be one of the 400 of them there!!!! [/ QUOTE ] OK, Bulldog52...do you already live/work in this area? Do you plan on moving to Bluefield or Pocahontas?
  17. [ QUOTE ] I for one am totally against any consolidation of the Tazewell Co. Schools except Graham/Pocohantas. What surprises me is that nothing has been mentioned about how poorly the county seems to be managed at times (i.e...the whole court house deal) The population of the Pocahontas/Tazewell/Bluefield area is bound to rise when the prison opens creating 400+ jobs. Look at Appalachia High with around 200 students! Richlands, Tazewell, and Graham are all currently AA schools with enrollments of 400-800 (approximation). I speak as a former Richlands football player, there is too much tradition in the three larger county schools to even speak of consolidation. Look at increased travel distances for all sporting events if all county and neighboring county schools decided to enact this cruel fate. I don't call for consolidation, I'm calling for less political B.S. and better management of our tax money! [/ QUOTE ] Most, if not all of those "400+ jobs" will be taken by folks who already live and work (or currently don't work at all) in this area. People are foolish to think the new prison is going make such a huge impact. Sure, its great that there will be that many "new" jobs available but it will have little, if any, bearing on the local population or school enrollments. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be suprised to see people move away from the area near the prison just to feel "safe", thus causing an even larger decrease in enrollment at Pocahontas. And I promise you, when it comes time for those "in power" to choose between "tradition" and "money", "money" will win EVERYTIME...
  18. [ QUOTE ] sorry boys nothing i can do election day ill be in FT Sill OK doing my basic traning for the army. but when i get back hell will be raised. [/ QUOTE ] Yes you can...you can vote on an "absentee ballot".
  19. [ QUOTE ] I hear you, driving from T-county to Buchanan daily for that last 15 years. But Last night They just sit there and brushed us off, Well thats what they think. I started campaigning today agianst Mr Davis! [/ QUOTE ] I think the Cookie is crumbling on this end of the County as well... Election time sure will be interesting...

  21. [ QUOTE ] that would be the wedding of the year in tazewell county [/ QUOTE ] But it would be in Mercer Co....
  22. I find this post quite interesting, especially the "idea", "plan" for only two high schools in Tazewell Co.. The part I find most interesting is there doesn't seem to be any arguement against having only two schools in Tazewell Co. Its like the posters from the three "major" towns in Tazewell Co. are all OK with this idea. Is that true??? To tell you the truth, I'm VERY suprised by that. Let's put it to the test here... Other than the people from Pocahontas who don't ever want their school closed... As a resident of Tazewell County, would you be for/against a proposed two high school system in Tazewell County (TC West/TC East)??? Are you willing to give up the "history" and "identity" of Graham, Tazewell, and Richlands High Schools in favor of this proposal??? Please feel free to add your thoughts and comments...I have mine and will post them later...
  23. What kind of "bonds" were they burning???
  24. [ QUOTE ] 2003 AHS,VHS,MHS beat tazewell. 2002 AHS, MHS beat tazewell. 2001 AHS, MHS beat tazewell and Carrol County 1995 Lee beat Graham, lol [/ QUOTE ] That was back in the day when losing to Lee was respectible...BTW, Graham won the AA, D3 State Championship that year...
