  1. I see you are a meteorologist in your user profile...where/who do you work for??? Forecasting weather is one of my prime hobbies. Even though I'm an "amateur" at it, I have people calling me at work all the time asking me what I think the weather is going to be like, when is it going to rain/snow, how hot/cold will it be. They seem to trust my forecast a bit more than those of the local TV station and newspaper. And to be honest, I'm more accurate more often than those two combined. Growing up, I wanted to be a meteorologist until I found out that about the only places offering that degree at that time were Penn St., Miami, and Oklahoma...would have been fun though to be with some of the original storm chasers in the development of the doppler radar and tornado prediction in the midwest... Aw heck, now I've gotten off topic...guess I'll have to move this post back to the General Discussion Board...
  2. A Pick 'em group has already been created...about a week ago. If you would read, and post, this type of message on the correct board, then you would have known this already. Please see the College and Professional Sports Forum...look at the top for Bluefield_Rules' post...
  3. I got Illinois vs. Wake Forest and UNC vs. Syracuse...an all-ACC Championship with the Tar Heels winning it.
  4. I got Illinois vs. Wake Forest and UNC vs. Syracuse...an all-ACC Championship with the Tar Heels winning it.
  5. Or anti-FSU...at least you don't see any of us bringing up the great "shopping deals" the FSU players get...
  6. Martinsville's defense is awesome and very aggresive...the refs called every foul against them all night long...
  7. MV2 will make a great WR to go along with the rest of the talent at that position. I'm telling you now...don't pencil MV2 in at the QB position just yet...
  8. 47 free throws??? F'ing rediculous!!! Obviously the officiating decided the outcome of this one!!! See why I HATE high school basketball......
  9. I'm predicting an "upset" in the other bracket...WEIR will take out both Logan and Winfield. Bluefield/Westside will be a WAR as I see both of them winning in the first round!
  10. Well said B_R!!! The GOLF BUSINESS is my REAL JOB, so I don't think any of you are more serious about golf than me. Not only is it my real job, but it is also my "part-time" job as well in helping out with the Blue Ridge Junior Golf Tour on many fronts, and I did, at one time, coach the Graham golf team...we went from worst in the SWD (not counting Grundy) to a very close #2 to Carroll Co. My team made the Region tournament for the first time in over ten years. I gave up the job to do my (this) website, www.SWVAFootball.com...Todd Baker took over and did a great job with the team over the next three seasons. I would be all for a "Golf Forum" however, I don't think it would get that much action and therefore wouldn't be worth the effort to start one.
  11. Comes from a knowledgable football family...I think he was a good choice and will do fine at Shady...if given a fair chance...
  12. [ QUOTE ] This country is definatly missing out, we sent Howard to Man U and he even has torrets, but STILL hardly anybody KNOWS!!! AHHHH!!! The stereotypical mom takes her kids to A. Football practice (no) B. Baseball practice (no) C. Basketball practice (no), but D. SOCCER PRACTICE. If a stereotypical American family has their kids playing soccer, why is it not more popular??? I dont understand. [/ QUOTE ] You've proven a point and answered you own question. It is the "stereotypical mom" who takes the kids to soccer practice...MOM being the key word. Why is soccer not more popular? Because DAD doesn't care about it...he's too busy taking the kids to football, basketball, and baseball practice. Soccer has not captured the AMERICAN MALE SPORTS FANS' attention, therefore it will not be popular in America until it does so...maybe in 20-30 years it may be close...
  13. Once again, Class A looks more like the Private School Post-Season Invitational Tournament than the WVSSAC Tournament...
  14. Looks to me like Bluefield got a good first round draw and the "easier" of the two brackets.
  15. Either this joke was over your heads or you didn't read it close enough...it makes fun of soccer and its fans fighting at games. The American points out that the reason the fans always fight is because the games is advertised as "football" (futbol for you Spanish speakers) and it turns out to only be "soccer". Get it???
  16. [ QUOTE ] that would be fun to be in it! hahaha [/ QUOTE ] You didn't get it...did you??? They must not teach reading comprehension anymore...
  17. in Brazil??? Here's the story... Over 300 injured in soccer riot by Ricardo Rodrique for Brazil Today, Sao Paulo office Over 300 fans were injured, some critically, after a riot broke out during a soccer match between rivals Sao Paulo and Palmeiras. The riot started just as the game began and officials halted play and sent the teams to their locker rooms for safety reasons. Police were quite confused as to what started the riot which began in the stands and spilled over onto the playing field. "At this point, we have no idea who or what started the skirmish" said Pablo Fuentes, the chief of police in Sao Paulo. "We will be investigating the situation further and justice will be served." However, Jim Smith, an American tourist visiting Brazil, was attending his first soccer match and witnessed the whole incident from the stands. "I can understand why the fans were so upset," Smith said. "The media had billed this as a very important football game between two of the best teams and biggest rivals in Brazil and all they got was a soccer game instead."
  18. V-High B&M'd to the VHSL to play in the HOGO instead of the LPD. When they didn't get their way, they decided to stay in the Highlands. However, you are right about one thing...it will give V-High more opportunity to schedule Class A schools...
  19. How many games will Mt. View play next season? If nine, they'll win six, if ten they'll win seven. BTW...welcome to the board...always good to hear from the folks over in McDowell Co.!
  20. Just a heads-up...March 27th is Easter Sunday.
  21. [ QUOTE ] That's interesting G-Man b/c Reggie Love of Dook played four years of football 2000-2003, basketball in 2000-01 and 2001-02, and now basketball again here in 2004-05... [/ QUOTE ] 2000-01 2001-02 2002-03 2003-04 2004-05 That's five years of eligibility. Since this is King's redshirt-junior year, that means he has already been enrolled for 4 years...one to go.
  22. [ QUOTE ] Jeff King is a redshirt-junior, but he would be eligible to play basketball for three more years after this season. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, he will only have one more year of eligibility for b-ball after this year. You have 5 years (10 semesters) to compete in athletics...the five years start with the fist semester you enroll...of which you only have 4 years of eligibility. Since this is his fourth year of school, he only has one more year of atletic eligibility left...regardless of what sport(s) he's playing.
  23. Stan is an idiot! We aren't going to get any significant snow from this storm...40s on Sunday, upper 50s and rain on Monday, rain/snow showers Tuesday & Wednesday with temps in the lower 40s, rain/snow showers Thursday & Friday with temps in the upper 30s. Too wet and too warm for snow accumulation...
