  1. The u.s. isn't investing in failure in afghan if their goal is to kill terrorists as it was under bush, the only possible failure there would be nation building, and elsewhere, this world wide appeasement that's been going on. The u.s. invested in failure when they elected this administration. The reasons for being in afghan are simple however.
  2. America has by far the best health care in the world, it doesn't need wrecked.
  3. I started to think it wouldn't ever passed based on the way the public reacted, but I didn't count on these people completely ignoring what the public wants, it's way out of control.
  4. So while folks were busy enjoying saturday nights watching football, going out, in other words, "preoccupied", our elected "representatives" had a another busy late night passing the disastrous health care debacle through the senate for debate. Another trillion $ item coming to our wallets and deficit and ruining the worlds best health care system and hardly any coverage of it at all.. Stealthy indeed. ....... Virginia: Warner (D-VA), Yea Webb (D-VA), Yea West Virginia: Byrd (D-WV), Yea Rockefeller (D-WV), Yea
  5. Congrats to bluefield and sherman for an exceptional game, and to bluefield for earning it. The coaches have made outstanding adjustments in the 3rd quarters at that...
  6. I've written it on tristatepreps a few times, in my opinion, this bluefield team really is at their best when they go straight forward with a power game, even though overall it's not something bluefield is accustomed to. It's not a 3 yards and a cloud of dust style but more a power game that still has potential to go the distance on particular plays when the d is spread.
  7. I've thought that for weeks, in fact it was a concern of mine in sept., they have more odds of a successful 2 point conversion attempt in 2 attempts than making 2 extra points. I can't figure out the squib kickoffs either....
  8. Actually they were crediting him for making a wise play and just recovering the ball instead of attempting to scoop up the ball and run with it....
  9. that's what I've been thinking all week myself, the key to this game is bluefield's pass rush......
  10. The thing is there's many on the opposite side that don't agree with you........
  11. I didn't see sullivan north mentioned, with all due respect you might have misread that,. I haven't ever read of them being very competitive myself either. Anyhow it's sullivan south bluefield used to play.
  12. It's these types of games where being h or away makes a big difference. 1 of these years the mavs will earn a title, and I'll be glad for them. anyhow, congrats on another strong season to the mavs, and best to yall in '10.
  13. hasn't this already been debated, if you've been reading my posts you know I've written a few times that I didn't think she was electable because the republican party is to far to the left themselves and she threatens them as much as liberal agendas. (not that she would be a bad president) Not to mention as I wrote she likely doesn't even have any presidential agenda, but she can certainly spread the conservative message loudly which is what seems to be her aim. Simply because the left hates this individual, as you do, don't assume most people in america consider her the failure the media promotes her as being, if you haven't learned that the media has an agenda before anything else then you never will. People distrust the media more than ever. The fact is alaska has been a productive state with a streamlined government, maybe you should be as critical about the governor of this state, or other states such as miss ( or cities such as "chicago", there's a track record I'd be careful as a liberal not to consider to closely ) that all rank among the lowest states in the country in so many things. I don't have faith in government, there isn't anything they've ever ran that they haven't run into the ground at a huge burden to taxpayers, and you're waiting on some candidate who is actually capable of doing something with this mess, republican or democrat? The only people worth considering are people who would be willing to reduce most of government intervention in people's lives, and do away with it, like removing a tumor, and the only person who even remotely seems to think that way is palin, like her or not. Unfortunately she likely isn't even electable or intent on being a candidate. I'd personally support any candidate who'd get government the heck out of our lives.
  14. She's a waste of time to liberals,, she might not ever even run for president, is that a sign of lack of success or lack of any influence, not at all, but that said for someone who was over a year ago, she certainly is front and center in America more than ever. The media wouldn't have been going after her the way they have if they didn't fear her, really, if she is such a meaningless loser, wouldn't the media have much bigger concerns to concentrate so much of their efforts on?
  15. I didn't write anything about stimulus in other ways, but there's responsible, sensible stimulus, and irresponsible stimulus that only increases the debt, what the u.s. has had most of under this administration has been the latter....
  16. It was recent, don't know how recent then but it was a really exceptional school. I never attended bluefield jr high but it reminded me a lot of it.
  17. It would be disaster to reduce the military anymore at that. They should increase it, on that, oddly people don't ever consider the fact that the military is actually a good paying job, that actually puts a lot of civilians to work on the outside to. Increasing it would actually be good for the economy as long as nothing is outsourced to other countries, but then the u.s. has always basically developed their own equipment and weapons, ships and aircraft and technology so that wouldn't be much conerns..
  18. The wars aren't putting the u.s. in debt, it's the out of control spending on things that don't produce anything in return. The wars do cost but there's actually a lot of business and development industries that thrive in times of war. It's a cost of being safe. I realize the military is stretched thin though but the fact is after the gulf war the clinton administration downsized the military to a level that obviously wouldn't support any prolonged war anywhere, much less being able to fight a war on 2 different fronts. This was incompetence. Even so the military, particularly the army and the national guard were desperate for recruits around '05, so the 2nd big brutally honest reason that so many people have to go back time after time is that less than 1% of the able bodied American men actually man up and enlist to do their share. You've got a country that prides itself on being full of tough and strong people who ironically don't seem mind going about their lives here knowing that less than 1 % are shouldering the burden of war in such a way. Is present day society in america simply to soft in desire and will and ability for any war anymore, I don't know, it's possible. Unfortunately it's simply necessary. that said I know the president isn't on a european golf tour, but the fact is the effort for the afghanistan war should have been priority and been done back in august, at the latest early sept. But they've been completely obsessed with their health care agenda, ....speaking of debt.
  19. that team from roanoke james monroe played later in the season was a 1 year contract for them, perhaps they're a possibility.
  20. those are the teams I was thinking myself, particularly the mt airy team. They were looking for games 2 years ago if I recall.
  21. it happens but it's still better to play high quality football and risk that in my opinion, i just personally enjoy higher caliber football.
  22. I was on the team the 2 years they played sullivan south, they were 9 - 0 and 2nd or 3rd in the state in tn in aaa and they traveled to bluefield and we defeated them 21 - 7, then defeated them by a score down there in '83, but had to forfeit the game some time later. Of course you know this. I personally thought it was an easy away game, 2 hours travel down 81 most of the way basically and better than going up the turnpike to charleston. It was really enjoyable that the teams ate our pregame meals together, they ate in our cafeteria and we ate in theirs down there, down there we all sat amongst each other and talked, that was different but made for a really fun time. They're another team bluefield should consider scheduling if possible in my opinion. eta it was cold down there, 1 of the coldest games I recall
  23. As for a lot of wv aa teams not scheduling bluefield, be honest, does bluefield or their fans really gain anything from scheduling a lot of these teams, is anyone really enthusiastic about these games even when the few of them are played? Keyser seems to be looking for games a lot, I read that bridgeport was looking to upgrade their schedule, and the surry county area in nc just beyond the va border would be a place to check for games.
