  1. thanks but even if graham requested that i am curious why the promoters of the classic did it anyway especially since graham beat 3a capitol today i feel that it could hurt capitol in rankings unless this tournament doesnt count in wv in the state rankings. i am not complaining just wondering what if graham was to win it all as a 2a school would the classic ask them back next year to play in the same division. i am proud of the gmen today they showed what they are made of and also how they played yesterday being outmaned and all still hung in with the more talented team. and it will only help them later on in the year.
  2. i have another question why is graham a 2a va team playing in the wv 3a bracket if anyone knows
  3. that is true but for the most part a team with a losing record will usually not go to far into the playoffs in va because the further you get the tougher the teams are but still on any given day any team is capable of beating another team if things go right for them.
  4. there is always room for improvement in any system the main thing against a division 4a is i do not think that there are any schools here in swva that are big enough to fit the bill for that so they all would have to come from eastern and northern va i think and what do you do with the small 2a schools here in swva do you take them to just one division the 3 a rankings seem to work with 2 divisions in each, i realize that some do not like this format because now and then a 5-5 school or one with a losing record makes it into the playoff because they won their district but even with this they usually get weeded out real soon in the playoffs. i do not know what the answer is but for now i like the system as it is.
  5. congrats to the beavers on a well played game and victory over beckley well done guys
  6. good luck to the beavers tonight i hope that they win and win big against beckley. hope that they do get it together except when they play graham again. then they can be out of sync for that game if they want to lol. but still good luck guys.
  7. it will take a lot of lifting and work in the weight room to catch up with some of the teams in the true swva area from bluefield to lee county
  8. "Pig" was a Great man! I remember when he came into the locker room before games, he would get us cracking up before practices. He was one of the best guys I ever knew in Graham High Football. It won't be like football season with out "Pig" in the locker room. We will miss you "Pig"
  9. with the g-men on wvva tonight they showed graham standing holding the ball for around 4 min in the game and grundy just standing in the zone. what are they afraid of grahams speed. they still did not win only scored 18 points i think in the game against graham, so you would think that they would try the man to man defense at least what they did was not working in the game. but who am i to say just a by stander looking on.
  10. this is a very sad time for all ghs fans the man was a gentleman and a big fan of ghs he will be missed by all.
  11. from the sounds of it i wish i could have been there but i had to work oh well that is the breaks. but it sounded like a great game from graham tonight

    Henderson

So far Henderson for graham is undefeated. As I said earlier in the year Henderson is the one to beat that is doubtfull to be beat. He worked hard Tuesday Night and looked very tired from a couple well earned wins! Good Luck Andy!
  13. ty for the reply i to feel that we could end up with two very strong teams in the county if and when that happens and the 2 schools would be big rivals i feel and i would hate to see the closings but feel that if things do not change in the near future we will see this sooner than we think.
  14. even though i like vt i will always pull for bradshaw to do great when they play each other
  15. that is true but for myself i would like to see coach litz get the head job at graham if it ever comes open he is a excellent coach and has done very good at graham and has been a head coach before. and even though graham has stability in the program i feel that the younger carlock still would lack the maturity and experience that some of the other coaches on the team have now if none of them wanted to take the postion then yea let junior have it but i agree i do not see senior going for a while
  16. i agree with you on some things but as far as a ball being caked with mud that is the managers job of keeping a clean and dry ball as much as possible. take the manager for graham drew marrs the kid did a fantastic job of keeping a fresh ball ready for the officials to spot on every play that graham ran. so as far as a qb holding on to the ball maybe the team needs to train a better manager or take lessons from drew marrs. but as far as the beaver game i do not know the field conditions but i do remember the game they played here before the final game in the snow and they won that game. mud will slow you down but you still have to adapt to the conditions like blfd did in the snow at mitchell stadium.
  17. i feel that gretna would have been able to play and pass in any conditions that were there they are that good.
  18. when will the closure of poca take place and do you think the kids will go to graham or to tazewell and also do you see the county going to 2 high schools at anytime in the near future. i read something in the telegraph a while back i think and just curious about the prospects of this.
  19. i do not think that simmons would leave beaver at this time with the beavers doing very good and tazewell not so good. would take a brave head coach to leave a successful program like beaver to go to a program in the shape that tazewell is in at the moment, not to say that the right coach could not bring tazewell back to the way it was in the early days and simmons probably could do it but why should he leave where he is now.
  20. that is a possibility lance but i myself feel that glenn jr does not have enough experience yet to take over the head position at graham especially with all the other assistant coaches there with more experience and i feel myself that litz would be the better head coach at ghs when the day comes that coach retires. but we never know what will happen until it happens. just like the consolidation of poca with ghs and the school board also talking about only having 2 high schools in the county that would throw a lot of good coaches into limbo who would coach the new schools if and when that day came about. i more than likely will not be here when that day happens but i feel that one day we in tazewell county will see only 2 high schools in our county.
  21. carlock jr might be a good fit for the tazewell position only way to know for sure would be for him to take the job and see how it worked. that way he would be getting a lot of good head coaching experience and then one day maybe when he is older could maybe become the head coach at graham. i know a lot of people will disagree with me and more than likely everyone will but it is just what i think.
  22. myself i would like to see coach litz as head coach at graham when carlock decides to retire, i have watched practices over the last 3 years and the kids have a lot of respect for him at least that is the way it looks to me and that is nothing against carlock jr. i just do not myself think that he would be the best for graham. i more than likely am wrong but just my opinion.
  23. Ok look at this... Graham looks to have a lot of great up coming wrestlers this year. This has apparentally been one of Graham's biggest teams in ages. I think I heard at one time that they had close to 20 people going out for the team. Of course not all will get to be on the Varsity team but it looks good for future teams. Their best wrestler this year looks to be Andy Henderson the main person who went to the State Tournement last year Jesse Perry looks to have improved this year!
  24. at least i still have a kid playing for ghs and he is getting ready for the weight room and lifting here at home so i still have a lot to look forward to and to be honest we all do. the swd will be even better next season and that is good for all teams. it would be nice if all swd teams made the playoffs next season i know that would be a long shot but would be nice to see. well got to get ready to help with weight lifting here at home see all at 2 a days at ghs
  25. On the Second Team G's you have Scott Eggleston as a player from richlands. He is actually Graham just figured you might want to check that error.
