  1. [ QUOTE ] That's pretty pathetic. I wish the rest of AA would get some balls and call us. [/ QUOTE ] How about the almighty Blue Tornado, they are real good at talking trash, but I bet they won't jump on one of those open dates. How 'bout it, Stormwatchers? The phone number for Bluefield High is 304 325 9116 ask for Coach Simon.
  2. [ QUOTE ] i kinda figured that would be sluffed off like that, but nobody made an attempt to answer those questions. J.M will probably get homefield advantage in the playoffs, but they won't win the championship this year.. because they can't pass, their only attempt failed. and if they ran so easily, why did they only win by only a field goal? it took everything they had to pull out the win. it's not that they're that good, they just got lucky. (and had a little help) [/ QUOTE ] Just a question here for you Trojan, I read your plan on how to contain the single wing, and I wonder what happened to it? Was it trying to contain the quarterback? The QB is hard to find in a single wing attack isn't it? Especially since they don't have one.
  3. [ QUOTE ] Does'nt matter if he touched it or not. In order to down the ball you must have possession. That means you pick the ball up or hold it on the ground until the ref's blow the play dead. If you get a chance to read the rule book you'll find that rule in there. [/ QUOTE ] That is not true....merely touching the ball after it comes to rest is enough on a scrimmage kick to cause the ball to become dead, also the rule says nothing about a whistle. You will find it in the NFHS Rule 4-3 since you have a rule book check it out.
  4. State Champs 3 Times '63,'89,'95 overall playoff record 27-19 Regional Semifinal record 14-7 Regional Final record 8-6 State Semifinal record 3-5 State Championship game record 2-1 Was there not a Championship game in 1963? I notice you said 3 State Championships yet your record in State Championship games was 2-1?
  5. [ QUOTE ] so what happened during the game for them to be called thugs??? and if you think they are bad as visitors, try goin down their house and you might have to fight your way out as i had to in 92..i swore i wouldnt go back and i havent been yet.. [/ QUOTE ] The game was in Welch was it not?
  6. Not all that surprising really, we are getting to the point in the season where the "contenders" rise to the top and eliminate the "pretenders".
  7. [ QUOTE ] he yelled and cursed at some players and their parents got mad and the media got involved, which to me honestly isnt a reason to get suspended for, every coach does it. what else you want to kno? u want me to make up something?ok.. here we go.. he spit in someones face and started beating the crap out of him because he missed a tackle, then brutally raped our quaterback for throwing ten interceptions in one game, and he finally got caught for it.. [/ QUOTE ] Ten INT's is enough to make any coach "go postal". Give the guy a break you guys toughen up. If you cannot stand the heat stay out of the kitchen.
  8. [ QUOTE ] Did it say "who you think will win?" Didn't notice that. I figured out of 9 big brains they could come up with one graham pick. [/ QUOTE ] Looks to me like all nine got it right.
  9. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] What happened to # 71 from last year last name Maddow? I played with he dad and I heard that he was supposed to be a nice player? [/ QUOTE ] He transferred to Princeton. He wasn't happy playing behind the more experienced kids, so he decided to head to Princeton. [/ QUOTE ] Did his family move to Princeton? If not, under the new rules how would he be eligible to play? Is this not what got Scott in trouble this year?

  12. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] coming into the game i thought graham fans were super confident after beating bluefield-they thought they had just beat the cowboys. but we really dont know how good bluefield is-scrimmages dont mean as much as some people believe- it just depends on each team, coach and situation. i saw graham and martinsville scrimmage. graham beat up george wythe - no surprise there and tied rockbridge , a pretty good team it looks like- but how will they do against more physical teams will tell against turner ashby and harrisonburg. graham then beat bluefield, who beat pulaski in a close scrimmage and richlands in a close scrimmage. i also saw martinsville scrimmage salem and they were quick and agressive martinsville scored first and then were shut down but i knew this was a scrimmage and both teams played different people but martinsville looked improved big time- they were just more confident and physical. thats why this score did not surprise me at all. [/ QUOTE ] be;ieve me blufield is better then graham just not on that night you can't beat a rival thinking they lost before you get to the stadium we all know that I promise u all u have to do is hit graham and if bluefield would have hit them the way they was pounding on p-town the g-men would have quiet [/ QUOTE ] Wow, just wow.........did you even go to Beaver/Graham? [/ QUOTE ] Did he even go to Bluefield-Princeton??? If that was a "pounding", then what exactly was the Graham-Beaver game??? [/ QUOTE ] It was a old fashion "butt whupping" kinda like Martinsville put on the G-Men.
  13. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] and graham will be boasting about that dil the day they die. [/ QUOTE ] No, only until the next time... [/ QUOTE ] And that may be quite a while........
  14. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] He didn't say anything. It's the graphic near the end. Pause it at 5:32 and read, lol. [/ QUOTE ] Got it. I guarantee you they will know who we are about 9pm tonight.............. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah they do indeed.....LOSERS

  16. [ QUOTE ] --As someone said, Marrs is no Carlock...they were absolutley right. He coached circles around Freddy and the gang. --Graham totally dominated every aspect of the game...offense, defense, and special teams. --Everyone at the game witnessed history...first time Graham has ever beaten Bluefield four times in one decade...is the tide beginning to turn in this series??? --Do sides really matter??? --And finally, to add insult to injury for the Bluefield fans...the BIG BLUE OFFICIATING CREW called the game. Yep, that's right, the officiating crew was predominantly tied to Richlands...OUCH, that's got to hurt!!! [/ QUOTE ] I respectfully agree and disagree with your analysis. First as to coaching...coaching was really not a factor in the outcome of the game. Both teams were well coached. Both sides had a few coaching blunders if you want to be technical. For example, Marrs was late getting the play in a couple times and thanks to the new play clocks got nabbed on them. I think the Beavers may have had one or two also. The time out at the end of the 1st half was a good coaching move for the Beavers as was the fake punt for the G-Men. Both offensive coordinaters called nice games, the difference was in excecution. The only slight advantage I would give the G-men coaching staff was on the FG attempt, that was brillant, risky but brillant had that been blocked wonder what the fans would have thought then huh? True the G-men dominated all phases of the game, their seniors played hard and are to be congratulated. My hat is off to them and I hope they continue to have a successful season. History was made, Graham went from a 30% success rate against the Beavers to a 40% success rate. You buying the champaign or should I? If that gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling I would say you set your sites very low young man. No I don't think sides make a difference, at least not a Mitchell Stadium, the game is played in the middle of the field and the stands are virtually indentical so if that makes you feel better so be it also. I thought the refs were fair, like the coaches and players they missed a few things too but all in all not a bad job in my opinion. They let Marrs go too far out on the field in my opinion to call his plays, I think out at the numbers is a bit too far, and that they missed a few, like the tackle leaving early for the G-men on the first play of the game but those things happen. Keep in mind that it was the first game for the refs also. The refs were not a factor. What WAS the key factor is that a group of young men from Graham went out and played their hearts out and deserved to win. To them I offer my heartfelt congratulations and also my sincerest apologies that they have fans like you. That cannot even win with some degree of class. They deserve much better.
  17. [ QUOTE ] I thought it might be some old school rule, I didn't know that 1. Here's another 1 I know of, but I've never witnessed this 1, a field goal can be attempted the way a punt can, but the ball has to bounce on the ground if I'm correct, then kicked just after the bounce. I've always thought that kickers or the holders should at least attempt that on fg attempts where something goes wrong because even though they likely wouldn't make it, they'd likely draw a roughing the kicker penalty if they'd simply kick it away from the defenders so it isn't blocked, because the other team likely wouldn't know the rule and would make contact. If it were blocked tough there's not roughing the kicker so they'd have to make certain it wasn't. kckers who [/ QUOTE ] That is correct it is called a "drop kick" as for the FG attempt it is treated just like a punt in high school football. The trade off is the FG attempt is easier to block and has a lower trajectory than a punt but the up side is that most high school teams do not cover a FG attempt. If the FG crosses the goal line and is unsucessful (does not go thru the uprights) it is a touchback but if it does the cross the goal line the kick is treated like a punt and can also be returned. The official made the correct call on this one.
  18. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Oh is that why? ok well they are the greatest. How many winning season has richlands had in last 10 yrs? They have 1 good season and the are a dynasty in swva. [/ QUOTE ] This "One good season and they think they're a dynasty" crap is funny. I guess Bluefield fans don't read the paper much. To answer your question. I don't know about the last 10 years, but I do know I lived in Richmond the last time Richlands had a losing season. And that was a long time ago. [/ QUOTE ] So let me get this right...having a winning season is a dynasty? I guess if you set your goals low enough you can accomplish anything. My idea of a dynasty would be quite a bit different. Let's say something like making it to the state finals 7 out of the last 10 years or something like that.
  19. [ QUOTE ] why change it up after its been the same for many many years...last year the second beaver-graham game felts\ weird for both sides of the stands because we were on different sides [/ QUOTE ] Things change dude..deal with it. Game is played in the middle of the field what difference does it make where you sit....just enjoy the game.
  20. I could not agree more....sit where you are supposed to sit, like it or not. These young student athletes from both schools have worked very hard and should not be distracted by stuff happening up in the stands. This is an emotional game and tempers are bound to flare. Just look at the postings on this board as "The Game" gets closer.
  21. Consider this....58-19-2 Until those numbers even out...it will always be the Beaver-Graham game....any questions?

  25. [ QUOTE ] We could always tax BLFD VA for use of it, and the field. It is the Beavers Hut you Know!! [/ QUOTE ] Actually "the hut" belongs to the City of Bluefield WV and they "tax" both Mercer County and Tazewell County to use the facility. It does not belong to either school.
