  7. Does anyone know if the football stadium is on the 1700 acre complex, or do they play elsewhere?
  8. We proved we will play anyone taking on a Charlotte school with an enrollment of 1600 kids. Been reading up on that team, scary...
  9. What amazes me, everyone blames Glennon. He is doing what the coaches ask of him. THEY are calling the plays.
  10. Name one cheap shot the Beavers took Friday night?

  12. Everyone is still probably stuck in traffic. Beats all I have ever seen.
  13. All I'm going to say is to all the players from BHS that read this site I want to say I am proud of your effort tonight. You all did not give up. Will & the entire offense kept their composure and mounted a beautiful drive.
  14. How many kids play rec league football these days GMAn? You've got 800+ kids that will play rec league soccer at the East River soccer complex this fall. Trust me, it's coming and coming quick!!!! Heck, I started playing football in the 2nd grade & loved it. My boys showed an interest in soccer so I didn't pull this elitist BS and demand them play football because it is America's sport. I have grown to be addicted to soccer, I coached for many years until my boys got to middle school & high school. I still go support BHS every Friday night and have been to Wheeling every year, you can have more than one sport dude, this nail in the coffin nonsense has got to go. I respected and learned from Coaches Pruett, Simon, Ferrell, Chmara, and others. My Son learns from and respects Coach Kevin Goforth. His choice of sport not you guys who don't think it's real sport. One last thing, you stated this. that the US is still years behind in the sport...maybe this was a nail in the coffin of soccer as a "major" sport in the US... ******************************************************** Did you know they played with 10 players vs 11, and they were missing 2 of their super stars, Adu & Bradley. They only lost 2-1. I'm not saying should of, would of, could of by any means, but that isn't bad losing 2-1 missing 2 stars and being down a man.
  15. Granted the locker rooms needed work, I think they haven't been touched since I played in the mid 80's. Leave it to the city to screw it up though.
  16. Logan Ray, wasn't he the kicker this year? He has it timed perfectly to get the kicking shoe on.
  17. Dang it!!!!!!!!! Hokies hold another full-scale scrimmage Tailback Jahre Cheeseman breaks leg April 12, 2008 The Virginia Tech football team worked on goal-line and red zone offense and defense for the majority of the day, as head coach Frank Beamer and his staff put the team through another scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at Lane Stadium. But the big story of the day was an injury to promising tailback Jahre Cheeseman. The redshirt junior from Voorhees, N.J., suffered a broken left fibula after being tackled during a run early in the scrimmage. Cheeseman was slated to undergo surgery Saturday evening. Cheeseman's injury comes on the heels of another injury at the tailback spot. Kenny Lewis, Jr., who was No. 1 on the depth chart, is out 4-6 months with a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He will undergo surgery early next week. "It was time for us to pick it up when Branden [Ore] left," said Darren Evans, a redshirt freshman tailback. "He left some big shoes to fill. But now we've all got to pick it up even more. We've got to get our mind right, get our protections down, and understand the game better." "That's a tough thing with Cheeseman," Beamer said. "This will give those two freshmen kids a chance [Evans and Josh Oglesby]. We know what [Dustin] Pickle can do and we know he's a tough guy. But it'll give those two young guys a chance to run the football. They've done well and they've done better in the last week. They show a lot of promise." During the red zone and goal-line portion of the scrimmage, Tech's offense scored three touchdowns. Quarterback Sean Glennon threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Dillard, Pickle scored on a 5-yard run, and freshman Ervin Garner scored on a 8-yard reverse. Tech's kickers hit three of their four field-goal attempts - a strong accomplishment on a rather gusty afternoon. Dustin Keys, the front-runner for the job, connected on a 32-yarder, while Matt Hazley hit a 25-yarder and Tim Pisano nailed a 37-yarder. Keys misfired on a 42-yarder, hitting it wide right. "I think our kickers did a good job," Beamer said. "In my mind, Dustin is in the lead right now. This next week, we're going to do a lot more kicking. But he's the one who gets the best height on the ball and has been the most consistent." The latter half of the scrimmage consisted of two 10-minute quarters. Tech's lone score during this portion came on a 1-yard run by fullback Kenny Younger. Evans paced the team in rushing with 14 carries for 26 yards. Pickle rushed for 17 yards on eight carries and Cheeseman finished with 14 yards on four carries.
  18. I know the season just ended, but who will be on the court next year? Ponder Patterson Reed Wilson Mitchell
  19. I find it amazing that a coach that no one wanted, takes a team that lost good talent last year and takes them on quite a ride this year. He lost to the #1 seed, I would be pissed if he took a #2 team to Charleston and lost to a #7 team like last year. Congrats to Coach Havens and to the players for a good season.
  20. [ QUOTE ] First off, my hat is off to Ansel Ponder. He was a dominating force today and its been a long time since ive seen a beaver step up and play like that with his career on the line. Congrats to your great season Ansel. Sencondly, I honestly became a fan of Craig Havens this week. He handled himself very well on the sidelines, especially when compared to other coaches. He showed that he obviously wanted to win it all in what i saw of the postgame, and in my book, he is a Beaver. And for that, I am going to stand by him and say that I think he did an excellent job. Sure, the wins may not have been pretty, (summers) or games slipped through our hands (princeton) but he still overacheived in my book. This was the year Bluefield wouldnt go to charleston, my mind was made up in January, But he and his team proved me wrong. Finally, the main thing that led me to be a supporter of Havens was his coaching in charleston. He took a less talented, lower seeded team and won a game in charleston. That is something that even Gilliard couldnt do last year with all the talent he had. Coach Havens proved to me that he was a Beaver this week, and yes he can work on some things, but it is evident that he wants to learn and ultimately win a state championship, something only one other coach has done in Bluefield history... There is something in me that tells me Craig Havens is like a favorite coach of mine. Has great talent, but hasnt had the stage of a premeir program like bluefield. Both seem to struggle with player/coach relationships and dicispline, but hopefully havens will get a longer shot than the other did. and sure go ahead throw me under the bus, but i dont see anything wrong for giving credit where credit is due, especially to another Beaver. [/ QUOTE ] AMEN BROTHER...... I have been quiet also. I have been to all games but 5, and I still can't find the horrible coaching.
