  1. I agree with you about Breck doing outstanding work. I was looking at Aarons carries and Jimmys carries this season, very few. Both are beasts and a hell of a blocker. Colby Should be in this category as well. I think Aaron is a great fullback, running and blocking. But taking him off the field during the game is a mistake. He is not getting the touches he has gotten in the past and he is sharing time at FB. It does not matter who, but somebody has to go to the line. Jimmy and colby are probabally the best options, but I think Aaron is underutilized. he is used as a Guard coming out of the backfield. He could have 100 yards a game at FB, but he gets 1 or 2 touches a game, I do not get that.
  2. I think the coaching staff does a good job. Rowe does a good job, Plymal has had high scoreing offences, Compton has hard hitting stingy defenses. Luke was a starter for Va Tech, although coaching is new to him I think he does well. I think Coach Church could help the line some too since he was an All American. I think he is coaching 8th grade ball right now though. I think the biggest problem is too many skill positions not enough linemen. Matt Lee and Andy Stiltner is the only true linemen. Breck Does a good job, but he is still small. The left side needs some more beef. I think this is Theo's problem. A qb should expect 3 seconds before 3 defensive players are in his face. This helps the running game to the other side though.(by the time the defense in in the backfield they out ran the play.) I do not think they can fix this without changes. Aaron Marcum to Guard and Colby Owens to Tackle And Penley to Fullback Strengthens the line immensely. I do not see anybody running through them.
  3. Sorry about the bad stat.lol Your one hell of a player to score so many times I forgot 1.
  4. I also want to give a shout out to Coach Compton, The vertical leap he displayed after the block on punt return was amazing!!!lol
  5. Looney did look good, he had 2 runs over 90 yards and a crushing block for Marcum! Garron had 4 tds 2 on Punt return and probabally 250+ all purpose yards. I think Grundy was over 400 yards rushing! Good job to everyone!
  6. The Wave is on the rebound. After a tough loss I look for Grundy to come back strong and continue the rich tradition that has become Grundy Football. I think that Paintsville has a good team, but Grundy will do better than expected.
  7. I think it is the Dudley Award for Va's top college football player. Cary won this award over current NY Giant TIKI Barber.
  8. First, Richlands- my hat is off to you. This was a game for respect and you earned mine. Next, Grundy- You guys had a game full of mistakes, correct them and be glad you do not play Div.4. You can still win State, but a lot of corrections must be made before then. Lastly, losing sucks!
  9. Lets get a few things strait. Garrons "alias" is Mr. Primetime, because he always shows up on Friday nights in primetime and in living color.(not wild child) It is going to be hard to hit Marcum when you just got ran over by A.Marcum, A. Looney, Matt Lee, ect. Offense advantage Grundy Defense advantage Grundy This is a game for Respect. Richlands "people" look down on Grundy and act like they are better than we are in sports and in life. You will find out that We are Country boys. We are a little red necked. We are hard nosed, Hard hitting, respect seeking, and more than anything we have Pride. You will find out Friday what all of this is about Because We Are Grundy!
  10. Wake up tornado fans your not that good. Grundy has one of and possibly the best team they ever had. Grundy has a powerhouse offense and a crushing defense. I do not think anyone in southwest Va has the offensive ability of Grundy and NOBODY and I mean no D*MN body hits like that Golden Wave Defense. You can talk about Coach Rowe all you want, but Grundy has been to the playoffs for 10 strait years, and they have beaten Graham a few times in that strech as well.(Richlands hasn't). As far as the KY teams goes, Sheldon Clarke was ranked 12th in AA KY. Get over it. Nobody trashed Richlands for losing to a A team who lost 20 seniors to graduation. We all let you take away a moral victory. Well guess what? You will need to look for another moral victory on Friday in Grundy, such as, Scoring a touchdown on the Wave Defense or Stopping The Offense before they Score, Once. Do you Wonder why only R'lands fans give you a chance in the "squeeker", Because you really have no chance at all. Again I pick Grundy over Richlands, but this time due to lack of respect..... Grundy 42 Richlands 7
  11. Grundy looked good tonight. They relied on a rushing attack . The Dynamic Duo of Garron Marcum and AW Looney looked good. Garron had a few great runs jukeing and spinning all over the place. The defense gave up the one big play that resulted in the SV score other than that it was a massacre. Last week the recievers went crazy and theo put the passes on the mark, This week the running game explodes. I would hate to be the blues trying to defense this team! And from what I've seen Offensively Ringstaff is all Richlands has on offense and he will not enjoy playing against this defense!
  12. If the title was not stripped what was the penalty?
  13. The reason I asked was I saw the sign 1992 AA State Champions. Why would the sign be up if the title was stripped for cheating?
  14. did they have the 1992 state title stripped?
  15. Lance, When you were in Grundy the Coal Boom was still going strong.(lol) Since 1993 the enrollment has dropped 75%. It is hard for the little league teams to get enough kids. Right now they are 1st - 6th graders. Vansant has 2 teams, Prater, J.M. Bevins, Big Rock, and Harman. I think the eighth grade team does a great job. I think you can count the losses on one hand since Dale Cox took over in the 90's. What happened on last years team? They were 8-1 last year. I think the reason that most do not play football as freshmen and come back is maturity. The freshmen are afraid to hit the bigger kids, lack of starting spot, ect... the price of having a good team. But I think Grundy has about 40 kids out this year. As for the wrestling excuse some kids do use this time to get ready for wrestling season. But this year 11 of the wrestlers are playing football. The wrestling coaches have adjusted the schedule for a Long Football Season!
  16. The Bristol paper had Garron with 3 touchdowns,AW with 3 touchdowns and Bronson with one. This was the best I have seen the playbook work. Theo was over 200 yards for the game. Defense looked incredible. I do not think the starters give up a first down. Aaron Marcum was reaking havok behind the line and Jon Brown was popping anyone that broke loose. The young guys got a lot of action in the second half or Grundy could of scored 100.
  17. The wave looked good. The line looked a lot better and Theo was throwing the ball well. the recievers are really impressing me, Stephan Baker,Jon Brown,Tigh Compton and Jimmy Ashby. The Marcums looked explosive. Garron had a run that he could have been tackled for a short gain then a few shifty moves later the wave was looking to score. I agree with your homer calls. Matt Lee had a beautiful pancake block that was called holding. AW and Jimmy Penley have been impressive in the pre season. This Grundy team has the most quality and depth in the skill positions of any high school team I've watched.
  18. who will you scrimmage besides JJ Kelly?
  19. I hate to bust you guys bubble, but the SWD Title is coming home to Grundy!
  20. The reciever you mentioned was long, tall, Jimmy Ashby. He has some of the best hands I've seen on a sophmore. I think he is 6'2 or 3.
  21. I want to give the Offensive game ball to Jimmy Penley who ran wild and a defensive game ball to Aaron Marcum for several crushing hits, as well as a few incredible blocks on offense. Also want to mention, Jon Brown , Stephan Baker, and Colby Owens who all loked tough. Big Charlie Osborne will fix the lines problem by the next scrimmage. Great Job to everyone from the seniors to the freshmen looked good and showed a lot of promise.
  22. Modern Era Offers- Jake Stacy Appalachian State, Cody Stiltner Applachian State, Luke Dales Va Tech and VMI, P.J. Justus U T Chatanooga, Aaron Elswick Cumberland KY, Aaron Young VMI, Albert Childress Iowa Minnesota Va Tech ......,
