1. [ QUOTE ] FINALLY!!!!! i guess graham ain't so good if they don't have rickey williams jr.... GO WAVE FINALLY YES [/ QUOTE ] C'mon now man, don't be posting stuff like that. That looks bad on us as fans. Bradshaw was the focal point of the Graham offense and a big loss for their team. But he hasn't quit Marshall to go travel with musicians and smoke pot yet. If that ever happens, then you can call him Ricky Williams Jr. lol Lance pretty much summed up our overall play. It was a good team effort. Our boys did pretty well with Garon (2 TDs, 1 of which was one of the sweetest runs I've seen in a long time) and A.W. (1 TD) running the ball solid. Aaron and Colby were just two of the monsters on defense all night that come to mind. I think this game was a statement game and hopefully people will stop knocking our schedule and using the Richlands game as a measuring stick. Now it can be seen what this team is capable of, as they get ready for next week and beyond.
2. I knew it was just a matter of time before we had this thread. I just didn't think it'd be this soon, seemed like it was up not too long after the games were over last night, lol. This will be my only post before the game. I'll definitely be in attendance. Of course I may be somewhat (well, A LOT) biased in who I want to win. You can tell that just by my avatar, lol. Neither team is to be underestimated. May the best team win and see ya Friday night!

Any Scores?

That's good. Didn't they get screwed out of a spot last year even with a 9-1 record?
4. You're entitled to your opinion, but I've known the Marcum boys for years and they've got a lot of heart and a passion for the game of football. And if Aaron gets a D-1 offer, which he has several schools looking at him, I'm thinking he won't turn that down for the JUCO route. These boys practice and train hard. They watch game film repeatedly to see what they did wrong and what they can improve on. They are devoted to not only making themselves better players but the players around them better as well. You have to have confidence in life, not just on the field. Their confidence might rub some people the wrong way and make them look "cocky," but so what. If a player is lacking confidence, he needs to stay on the bench. Johnny Unitas once said "There is a difference between conceit and confidence. Conceit is bragging about yourself. Confidence means you believe you can get the job done."
5. I know this may be a little off-topic but it's still football related and I couldn't help but to crack up when I saw this in today's Johnson City Press. I had to scan it and show it to you guys. I know Jerry Rice had been around for a while, but geez....lol

6. First it was the weather, the field conditions, the flu, now half of the O-line was out with injuries. I'm not trying to flame here either but this is the first time that I have ever heard this one.
7. You don't know what you're talking about, man. The '94 and '95 Chicago Bulls would have gone all the way if they hadn't played those weakass Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets so many times.
8. [ QUOTE ] Open-????, I have never heard of Open, KY. Gundy goning to win another one. Just kidding people. [/ QUOTE ] Another good question: Where is Gundy? I haven't heard of that one either. j/k
9. Lance is right, Aaron has no business being on the line. Although I have no doubt that he would make a tough lineman, he's too valuable at his MLB and FB positions to risk any injury to himself that might come from a line position. But I hope some adjustments to the O-line are made to better protect Theo so he can have some more time back there. I'm sure the coaches have something up their sleeves.
10. I must say I agree with your review. I don't know how many times I have commented to you and everyone else about the 3rd quarter Richlands situation. It's like we just threw up the white flag with those run plays. When you're facing that kind of score deficit, it's not the time to play conservative. You have to run 4 and 5-wide, air it out and at least try to make something happen. If there was a change in the QB slot, I think Theo could make a good DB. If memory serves me correctly, I think he's played before as a nickelback in a couple of games in the past and he did pretty well.
11. I hope someone got that on tape. We need a clip, lol.
12. [ QUOTE ] Hurricane Ivan may hit the shores but a Golden Tidal Wave is going to strike at Nelson Memorial Field on Thursday night. [/ QUOTE ] I said that in an earlier post. And was it ever the truth! Congrats to the Wave and to my boys Mr. X and Mr. PT, way to go! The team now has a well-deserved week off to rest. I'm proud of all of ya!
13. [ QUOTE ] VHSFan999 said: I dont think VHS will beat Graham but they will not get shutout 35-0. [/ QUOTE ] Now that's not the right attitude to have going into a game. I hope the players don't have that same mindset or they might as well not even bother stepping on the field. As good as some teams are, the outcome depends on who comes to play hard and who doesn't. Any given Friday (or Thursday this week at least, hahaha).
14. Unfortunately I won't be there, but I'll be there in Wave spirit. From what I've heard about Paintsville, it sounds like they have a good team this year with a 4-0 record and a talented rushing attack. But our rushing attack and offense are forces to be reckoned with and our defense is a proven run-stopper. Unfortunately for Paintsville, they have caught us in pissed-off mode. Hurricane Ivan may hit the shores but a Golden Tidal Wave is going to strike at Nelson Memorial Field on Thursday night. Good luck Wave, keep me posted and I'll see you in a couple of weeks.
15. I was only about 8 or 9 at the time, but my sister was in high school and I remember going to the games to watch him play. The boy had an arm on him and he's definitely one of the best QB Grundy ever had. I've always wondered about his whereabouts myself.
16. I will give Richlands their dues, they played a good game and we were way off par. But I thought it was pretty tasteless and unclassy of them to pull their buses right over from the field to have a little block party with yelling and taunting while the traffic passed them by.
17. DMan

Why?

And so it's perfectly acceptable when you start out by "degrading" two Kentucky high school football teams? Can you say DOUBLE STANDARD?!?! As good as GC and Richlands might be, that doesn't put them on an invincible pedestal. I never "degraded" either Richlands or Gate City in any of my posts, just stated the facts. The funny thing is that you know the feud is getting really heated when a team starts dogging the other teams on the opposing team's schedule, lol.
18. Hey, at least we're not making calendars with the team in front of a banner that says 2004 division 4 state champions. That's definitely the proverbial "counting their chickens before they hatch." Keep knocking those Kentucky teams too, after a close loss to a senior-depleted Single A Gate City and a win over a rebuilding Tazewell, you guys oh so definitely have the upper-hand on us. But I digress, no matter how much s**t is talked on this thread, the football field is the battleground. Grundy and Richlands has always had a deep rivalry, but this year it has seemed to explode beyond expectations. I'm looking forward to this matchup. Friday can't get here soon enough.
19. I'll be there at 5 sharp. Believe dat! Good luck boys!
20. BUMP on this thread Someone on VApreps posted a final score of Tazewell 36, CC 35. Tazewell made a late rally to stage a 1 point upset. Good call, guys, and good start for the "Dawgs."
21. Bro, you ain't gotta tell me anything. I was over there to UVA-Wise for 2 years, that school has a way of making a lot of people feel isolated, lol. I haven't even gone over there to pick up my diploma yet, lol. Guess I better do that next week, hahaha.
22. James, the game is not until tomorrow at 5pm at East Ridge. Good luck with the Highland Cavaliers and against Union tomorrow night. You'll be a big help to their line without a doubt in my mind.
23. I have to agree on that one. If that's your logic, then you probably believe that the Chicago Bulls of '91-'93 and '96-'98 would have been better without Michael Jordan.
