  1. This is the author of the video, aka "Danye East." Thanks ya'll! Also, why would they have a Mexican restaurant and Taco Bell that close together? LOL, I guess because Taco Bell ain't real Mexican cuisine, but I hope it's open late anyhow, haha.
  2. [ QUOTE ] I haven't heard anything about Garon Marcum lately. I guess a 2-8 season says it all about the one man show in G-town. If they hadn't had 5 runningbacks make 1st team in the SWD, would he had made it?? Are any D1 schools looking at him? I don't think he has the skills to be D1. He was riding a big ego into this season and he finished his career standing on the sidelines. I need your info Lance... you've been really quite as of late [/ QUOTE ] I've been sitting back being really quiet myself here lately, but after reading your simpleton post, I felt compelled to finally say something again. "I don't think he has the skills to be D1. He was riding a big ego into this season and he finished his career standing on the sidelines." The sad part is that you really don't realize how arrogant and pathetic you really are by saying something like that. If you know the kid, he never has had an ego problem. He has had confidence in himself, and if you don't have that, you might as well not even bother stepping out on that field. Despite all odds, he had a good season and done the best that he could do. There's no need for you to come on here and run your mouth to try to pour salt in the wound. Maybe Lance will give you some info, but I sure won't. You need to learn to be more tactful and get some class.

    Marcum

He had a great game Friday night and I'm glad I got to be there to see it. Not too many guys playing D-End pick off the ball and run it back to the house, unless you're Julius Peppers, lol. The line did well Friday night against Abingdon, and I hope they carry that momentum through the rest of the season. I know that they are one of, if not, the smallest line in Grundy history. That being said, however, this line is still capable of making the holes though as long as they do not roll over and give up, which I don't think will happen. It takes heart, persistance, determination, and confidence to win. I hope these boys realized that they can get the job done if they can string 4 good quarters of football each game from here on out like they did Friday night. If they do that, I think they have a really good chance of winning out and Marcum has a great chance of reaching 4,000.
  5. For all the Cowboys fans who jumped back on the horse wagon last week after their first win: HOW ABOUT THOSE 'SKINS MONDAY NIGHT!?!?!?!? Santana Moss is the man. And what a hit by Sean Taylor to cause that one incompletion. What a game and what a comeback. I've been a diehard 'Skins fan since the days of Theissman, Rypien, Clark, Monk, Riggins, and all the greats. Cowboys/Redskins is definitely the greatest rivalry in all of sports and I'm glad the Skins finally took the win. If you're a Redskins fan, it's a given that you hate the Cowboys and vice versa. I'd like to see them more solid in the QB position though, but Brunell has done a decent job so far this season. Ramsey hasn't been able to cut the mustard obviously though. Campbell had good stats while at Auburn, maybe he might be the future, who knows. The lack of a good QB to orchestrate the offense has hurt them a lot, but their stellar defense keeps on trucking. I just hope they keep winning.
  6. I can't tell you congratulations enough, bro. I'm just sorry I couldn't make it to see it in person. I told all the guys at work that my boy is making the history books back in our little town of Grundy. You've got the talent and most importantly, the heart to go far and succeed. I may not be able to make it to every game but you know you'll always have my support. Congrats again and we'll talk to you soon.
  7. [ QUOTE ] I was born and educated in Buchanan county . I still have relatives at Grundy and playing sports. [/ QUOTE ] Well, you're making it look even worse on us by that statement that you were born and educated in Buch. Co., more on that in a moment. [ QUOTE ] I am ashamed of the lack of class by the Golden Wave fan's on this website, that can't be good loser's. You was defeated by a great team and Marcum is good running back ( Not All- World as Lance built him up to be). [/ QUOTE ] Where is all the lack of class? I sure don't see it, and I sure don't see the class in your post. We were beaten, end of story. Sure, you've got some Richlands people on here tooting their horn, but honestly we all expected that and I would have been doing so as well if we came out with the upset. The way it was looking the first quarter, I thought it may have been possible, but I'm not posting to make excuses. And for the record, the apostrophe should go after "fans", and you do not need one in the word "losers." Also, it should be "you WERE defeated by a great team and Marcum is A good runningback." Ah well, I guess our educational system has a English/grammar instructional flaw. [ QUOTE ] Let's give credit where credit is due: Cain Ringstaff is a much better running back. Pick up your broken pride and beat Beaver next week. I wish you the best , for the rest of the football season. [/ QUOTE ] Where the hell did this Ringstaff stuff come from and how is it relevant? Are you sure you're even a Grundy fan? While Cain may have been a good back, he didn't do it all by himself, you give no credit to the Richlands line. They have the best line around and I'd kill to see what kind of numbers Garon would have with a line like that. That's a pretty low-class statement to be made out of nowhere. Ah well, I'm going to quit now before I start going all unclassy like all the rest of us Wave fans supposedly are. Good luck to Garon and the boys for next week, we always live to fight another day.
  8. [ QUOTE ] Here ya go Grundy. Compliments of Falco. Lol http://onfinite.com/libraries/598355/5a2.jpg [/ QUOTE ] I've got a copyright on that Waveman. Be expecting to hear from my attorney soon, Falco. j/k, lol.
  9. Pride goeth before destruction. j/k Gee, the way all these guys talk, you'd think we're the underdogs here, lol. Oh wait a minute, yeah, we are! No need to continuously point that out to us though. We know your defense shut down your first two opponents. We know you have a very strong team, there's no doubt about that. Nevertheless, the game will still be played on Friday night, there will be no forfeit. I hope last week's victory gave our boys some confidence back. Good luck to my boy MPT and the rest of the Wave.
  10. I'll be there if the Lord's will and the creek don't rise as high as these gas prices. I filled my tank up the other night before the increase while it was still $2.56 a gal down here in TN. Lance, save me a seat.
  11. [ QUOTE ] I just don't agree with trying to establish the passing game first and in HS ball you don't have to go to the air when you get down by 3 scores...stick with the run (esp if it's all you can get going) and try to open up the air that way to keep the D honest. [/ QUOTE ] Gotta agree 110% on that, a team can't go all "fun-n-gun" like that all the time, no matter how big the deficit is, and really expect to get anywhere. I work Friday nights now, so I didn't get to make it in for the game. I was pretty shocked when I heard the outcome, geez. By the sounds of it, Lance, it sounds like this game looked like a scrimmage, except unfortunately it counts in the loss column. I might try to get the night off and make the trip up to KY to see next week's game. I hope some necessary adjustments are made for next week's game (translation: give Marcum the damn ball).
  12. [ QUOTE ] What is it with all the "Wave" nicknames for high school teams in Southwestern Virginia? There certainly aren't any oceans around here, so what's the story behind it? [/ QUOTE ] They stuck with "Wave" because "Beavers" has too much sexual innuendo involved. Type "Beavers" in on a Google Picture Search.
  13. [ QUOTE ] SWD Richlands 4-0 / 10-0 Grundy 3-1 / 7-3 Graham 2-2 / 6-4 Carroll 2-2 / 5-5 Tazewell 0-4 / 5-5 Just my opinion based on what I know about the teams and their schedules. [/ QUOTE ] BigD, of course I knew you would pick Richlands to go undefeated. And of course, you picked Grundy to 7-3, with of course, one of those losses being from....yep you guessed it.... Frank Stall...errrr I mean RICHLANDS of course! But who are the other two teams that we are going to lose to as well, out of curiosity?
  14. [ QUOTE ] if richlands goes to the spread offense i predict caleb jennings will run wild.......and end up with more yardage than garon marcum......anyone agree??? [/ QUOTE ] I disagree. 110%. And you can quote me on that.
  15. [ QUOTE ] we're not the ones on here blowin' ourselves up every day. i find it funny that you decide to take a cheap shot about US when it's 50 of YOU who are here every day yap yap yappin. we never said we were gonna be a jugernaut. who told you we were? when did we say we were gonna be the team to beat? we haven't. Why don't you worry about your team and stay the hell out of the thread if all have to add is an off topic insult to our team. are you tryin' to get in good with your Grundy buttys? Heck, maybe instead of playin a football game, you two should just all congregate and tell stories about how much you like the other. then sing some cumbaya and wear each others tshirts. take your 5-6 prediction and your cute little jokes and shove 'em. [/ QUOTE ] <center>
  16. [ QUOTE ] actually. I think the 9/30 game is graham away. I mean its at the same place. But i think there making us sit on the other side during one of these games. Does anybody know if there is any truth to this? [/ QUOTE ] I don't know if there is any truth to that, but there is definitely some hilarity, lol. Everyone also must turn their hats around and turn their shirts inside out. I assume different uniforms will be worn as well??? They need another stadium on the WVA side. You'd think with Bluefield winning the state championship, there'd be some steps to make it happen. It never did seem quite right to me that two bigtime cross-town rivals have to share the same stadium. It goes against the entire logic of "we must protect this house!"
  17. Chris Wells is from Akron-Garfield, go figure. Bob sounds like a complete HOMER to me. I have been to Ohio once in my life and I wasn't impressed. With the exceptions of Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, it's nothing but a bunch of flatland farms, the Amish, and rude obnoxious people. Nevertheless, Garon still had some good results and I think he'll be ready for the season.
  18. [ QUOTE ] Side note: noticed that Vansant Elementary was being torn down the last time I was over there...can't believe how ugly that building got in a short period of time...now if they would just get Big Rock, Harman, and Garden's old schools torn down and clean up some of Island Creek's old crap left sitting to rot, it would improve the looks of the place a lot. [/ QUOTE ] Vansant used to be a great school and I had some of the best times of my school life there. It's sad to see the shape the building is in and now it's even more sad to see it torn down. The field I used to play football on and the basketball court I used to shoot on will soon be a parking lot. Dark Lord Emperor Smith will make another addition to his Food City empire there with a new Food City supercenter.
  19. Wise is NAIA Division II, they could classify for NCAA D-3, but they chose to join the NAIA so a few scholarships could be given out. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that NCAA D-3 doesn't give scholarships. However, NAIA does allow scholarships. Only a few are given at Wise though, most of the players' education is paid through financial aid (i.e. grants and loans). And on a side note, I believe Cotton should have gotten a full ride without a doubt.
  20. [ QUOTE ] As for the play calling, you know those guys read here and you probably aren't doing Garon any favors by saying this stuff...just a thought. [/ QUOTE ] Ah man, if you're a football coach, you have to have thick skin. Win and you're the greatest thing since sliced bread, lose and you're lower than whale crap, that's the nature of the beast. Coaches are subjected to criticism all the time, but that's not necessarily a bad thing because maybe it helps them realize a few things. [ QUOTE ] I don't think there is any way you can "set" a number of carries a back has, by saying he needs to have at least "x" amount of carries before a game...yeah it would be nice to see him get 30-40 a game with a good line, but the coaches will have to make that call during the game...and once they see what the overall strong points of the team are... [/ QUOTE ] You have to have at the very least a ballpark figure though. They can't just abandon the running game because it didn't work on a few carries. You have to utilize your best weapon that you have as much as possible. I'm not going to go out in the woods with my 12 gauge and when I see a deer, pick up a big rock to throw at its head in hopes that I kill it instantly. That being said however, the passing game does have to be utilized to keep the defense honest, but it'd be foolish not to give Garon at least 20-25 carries a game, and more preferrably.
  21. [ QUOTE ] Its the same reason Grundy has trouble getting ten games and ends up having to play the Kentucky school for the deaf and blind each year. [/ QUOTE ] Was that the only school that offered you a scholarship, Tid_Bit? lol Seriously though, I need to make a visit to Tazewell. It's been since last year since I had been over in those parts and from the way you talk about it, it's turned into a grand metropolis with so many opportunities abound. The town must have hired one helluva construction crew. Our poor little town is still trying to move across the creek. [ QUOTE ] NOBODY wants to travel to grundy. Its not because grundy is so good....its because the Town of grundy is so bad!!!! Who would want to travel down 460 to Grungy when they could get on a nice "paved" road and go to Christiansburg or Blacksburg or anywhere else for gods sake! Don't even get me started on their field. It is horrible!!! Nothing personal grundyites.,.... just telling it like it is. Hell, if most of the swd teams could get rid of Grundy they would. [/ QUOTE ] Agree about the field conditions, I'd love to have turf. But that's all I agree on with the nonsense in that paragraph. But keep posting, your eccentricity makes me laugh.
  22. [ QUOTE ] The only time you see V-high people on here is when your bullcrap gets so deep that we decide to defend ourselves. then you claim, WE are bringin' it all up. [/ QUOTE ] YOU are the one who started the crap in this thread, go back and read it, geez. I've already spoken my peace on the subject and hadn't mentioned it in months because I'm looking forward to next season. This thread wasn't even started by a Grundy person in the first place. [ QUOTE ] We haven't even mentioned the 100's of posts talking about how great Grundy's gonna be this year on here. or the ones about how "if only Grundy coulda got that shot against Gretna". As long as it's just ya'll talkin', your fine. but any other team who is mentioned, especially from the highlands...and you all have a smartbutt comment to add to a conversation that has nothing to do with you. [/ QUOTE ] I have admittedly done my fair share of downing the Highlands, but what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. I don't have anything against the Highlands, but it can be argued that it is the weakest district around, and if you win the district with a sub-.500 record, that only exemplfies that fact. It can't be for a lack of talented players, perhaps it just boils down to poor coaching fundamentals. Personally, I hope Lee turns some heads this year and goes 10-0. [ QUOTE ] And No. you weren't better. In past years, yes. frankly, we don't give a darn about the past, so if that's the card you're gonna play, go ahead. [/ QUOTE ] If you don't give a darn about the past, why did YOU bring it up in this thread then? I didn't bring it up, and there wasn't a soul from Grundy on this board that brought it up before your post. Therefore the ADHD comment is not an oxymoron, if you can't pay us money to read your attacks against us, at least pay attention to what you post. [ QUOTE ] Here's hopin' we see you in the playoffs. [/ QUOTE ] Well, there's one thing we can agree on.
  23. [ QUOTE ] Apparently Grundy hasnt let it go because almost everytime someone from Grundy posts on this board they mention how they got screwed. Get over it for God sakes. You lost. It may have not been a clean win but it happened and its over. Nobody in Bristol even talks about this win because it didnt matter as we lost the next game and didnt win the region. [/ QUOTE ] In the age of ADHD I know it's hard, but please take the time to read all posts in this thread in chronological order. BEARCAT was the one who brought it up. That is your mascot, right? No one posted about the whole situation in the last few months until his post now on the topic. We have already gotten over it, tell your boys to do the same.
