  1. I was hoping that was what was given, and if a TD wasn't called, and the clock had ran out, thats about all you can do, unless they want to give a signal for Graham ball on the recovery, or a touchback if they were down in the end zone.
  2. What signal was given by the white hat that the game was over? As an official, you can't give a team a TD until you know its a TD. Also, a stacked up one yard dive is the hardest thing for wingmen to call a lot of times. You have at least 6 people generally between you and the view of the ball, but a goal line call is that of a wing official. It sounds like it was a great game though. Wish I could have been there.
  3. Is that this Friday night? Who all will be there?
  4. Okay, but here's why its no different in you mentioning teams worthy of making it to the state tournament. Just because team A loses in their regional final, does not mean they are not a better team than team B just because they won their regional. That region may be much weaker. This actually gives you the opportunity to have a stronger state tourney.
  5. [ QUOTE ] Yes, it's beyond stupid. Why should a team that loses in its own section/region still be awarded with a trip to the State Tournament with the team that beat them in the first place? There shouldnt be second chances given. Imagine if it were this way this past season. Bridgeport, which had the best player in the state in Bryant Irwin and arguably the best team, lost in it's region and there went their chances at the state tournament. If Bridgeport were given a second chance, we might not have seen the miracle run by Woodrow Wilson to win it all. Teams shouldnt get second chances if they cant win their own region. Now, I could see maybe extending the actual State Tournament to a double elimination format, but this is ridiculous. [/ QUOTE ] You are contradicting yourself. Why allow a double elimination format at state, and not have a regional finalist move on if they lose in the regional finals? Both lose and live to play another day. Its no different.
  6. The scoring of errors and hits were atrocius. Truly only 5 errors by Essex. 4 were deemed by "throwing error" on a runner tagging and advancing because the OF bobbled the ball trying to throw it. Not an actual error.
  7. Go Pro. You can get it built into your contract for them to pay for your education down the road.
  8. It was a good game. Bland scored with 3 seconds left to win. RC jumped out to a 14-5 lead and went stone cold. Only scored 2 points in the second quarter as Bland took a 17-16 lead at that half. RC finally got busy late in the third and made comeback after being down 9. RC lead with 2 minutes left but the drought in the 2nd quarter and missed free throws at the end was their nemisis. Good luck to Bland in Richmond this week.
  9. Twin Vally vs. Northwood 2PM @ VA High in girls action as well.
  10. I will agree with that. When he came to RC they returned every player but 1, and was coming off of a deceiving 3-7 season. They lost by 4 to RD D2 runner up Hurley with Tester. Lost to RD D1 runner up TW on a FG with 15 ticks left. Beat Ervinton 46-6 and Ervinton made the playoffs. Lost to Northwood by 1, Holston by 2, and St. Paul in overtime and killed Twin Springs to knock them out of the playoffs.
  11. Joe acquired a loaded RC team though too when he took over. I wish him the best of luck at Battle if he gets it though.
  12. On the Cumberland board, Rye Cove defeats Council 51-49 in girls action.
  13. With the schedules differing between the two states, will this affect the big jamboree they have at Bluefield every year?
  14. Right now, Thomas Walker is a much better pick as threat to the D1 championship than St. Paul out of the Cumberland.
  15. When Castlewood first moved to the Cumberland, they wrested in the LPD. Grundy would need to move to the BDD IMO and wrestle in the LPD or Cumberland now that they have 2 teams while the LPD only has 1.
  16. Actually there was a slight change to the NFHS rules this year about the holder. This effecteda all states but Texas and Massachuesetts if I am not mistaken. Mainly to clarify things a little.
  17. Wow, thats something you don't see everyday. An All something team, that actually looks like a starting lineup. Not one that looks like it was picked to fit everybody in on first team.

It is not illegal a receiver, or back to move toward the line of scrimmage as long as they do not cross the neutral zone, and reset, or are not moving forward while in motion at the snap.
  19. [ QUOTE ] Cumberland would be perfect! [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, that 5 hour drive to Thomas Walker would be real nice every year in bball and such. Won't happen.
  20. [ QUOTE ] First off, those teams don't have to "apply" to drop. They already have Class A numbers...they "apply" to play up. If they do play in the BDD, I don't see it as the BDD of today. I see Hurley and Twin Valley seeking refuge in another district. I could see keeping Haysi and Honaker, and possibly adding Lebanon, with the addition of Graham, Grundy, and Tazewell to form a "new" BDD. However, I don't see Graham and Tazewell actually playing in the BDD either. [/ QUOTE ] What other districts could Hurley or Twin Valley seek refuge to? The BDD is the only fit for them in Region D.
  21. Rye Cove whipped Big Creek pretty handily in a scrimmage I reckon, and that was when RC was stinkin up the place.
  22. I have viewed some of their stuff from their website this year helper. I don't remember how they done it in the passed, but now you view it through the high school you are looking for on their site.
