  1. Lol, idk what you are smoking but it should be illegal. Obama is for people being dependent on the government which gives the government control. All obama has done is cut defense funding, printed more money (stimulus) which bring the value of the dollar down, bring the number of people in the work force to its lowest point in over 30 years, and added over 5 trillion dollars to the deficit. There's more btw but if that doesn't begin to give you a clue what obama is about then I doubt stating more facts will help.
  2. Well, this is what I was quietly hoping for. WVU will head to Austin this Saturday for a battle of two unbeaten Big 12 teams. The question is, what will it take for WVU to go to Austin and beat Texas? Feel free to give your take. Unfortunately the Maryland game is the only one I have had time to watch all the way through but I think it goes without saying that Geno is unstoppable when he has good protection. I think we need to have a little stronger running game. Having Alston healthy should help this a lot (does anyone know what his status is?). I don't think he played yesterday. The defense needs to improve. I'm not sure how much though. Baylor came into yesterday averaging almost 50 points a game and around 400 yards passing. So we weren't the first to give up a lot of points to them. Our defense had been effective in causing turnovers also which can help balance the yards given up. However, 63 points is just unacceptable and I hope the coaches can help the D get better. I think we have a great chance this Saturday to pick up a huge win but we can't assume we will score 70 points every game. Hopefully Alston will be healthy which will help protect Geno and improve our running attack. The defense needs to tackle better and get Texas off the field on third downs. I believe overall we are better than Texas but their isn't a huge margin for error. Hopefully Dana will coach em up and we'll play to our potential. Do that and their will be a big celebration going on in Morgantown!!
  3. The trouble is that most news stations won't report the reality. The liberal media got all excited a few weeks ago when unemployment dropped to 8.1%. They never talk about how many people have just given up on looking for work nor do they point out that number of people in our work force is at it lowest number in over 30 years.
  4. I really want to compliment you on having a basis for your position. I have a lot of respect for people who know why they believe what they believe. I think a lot of people today in America have little basis for their convictions. Below are some passages from the Quran that are part of the basis for my belief about Islam. Sura 5:51: “O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he among you that turns to them for friendship is of them.” Surah 47:4 When you meet the unbelievers, smite their necks, then when you have made wide slaughter among them, tie fast the bonds, then set them free, either by grace or ransom, until the war lays down its burdens. Sura3 3:64: “Verily Allah has cursed the Unbelievers (whom he defined as Christians in the 5th surah “Believers, take not Jews and Christians for your friends.) and has prepared for them a Blazing Fire to dwell in forever. No protector will they find, nor savior. That Day their faces will be turned upside down in the Fire. They will say: ‘Woe to us! We should have obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger!’ ‘Our Lord! Give them double torment and curse them with a very great Curse!’” Speaking of unbelievers: Sura 4:89 “seize them and slay them wherever you find them: and in any case take no friends or helpers from their ranks.” I do agree with you that it is very hard to get a clear understanding of the core of a religion based on individual passages. Heaven knows that people have taken specific verses from the Bible and used them out of context so I know I have to be careful in my analysis because I haven't read the full content of the Quran. However, there seems to be plenty of verses that promote violence for followers of Islam to use to justify their actions. I remember reading one time that when Mohammed started to promote his new religion that he began with the demeanor of a lamb (humble and peaceful) because he had very few followers. His demeanor evolved into that of a fox over time (still not strong enough force his religion upon people so he sought to harras them). Lastly he took on the form of a lion (bold and violent) as his number of followers grew. I kind of see that still going on today. Muslims who live near me are never violent but their aren't many muslim families in my area. However, in Deerborn MI where there is a large Muslim population, Muslims are very forceful and outspoken. Setting asside the history of Islam and the interpretation of the Quran (which we both could debate) let me mention what I see going on today. My understanding is that even today if you live in a Muslim controlled country and are not a follower of Islam then you have to pay a tax (Jizyah) in order to be protected against violence as you show your submissiveness to Islamic rule. The violence in these Muslim ran countries aren't even limited to unbelievers. Syria has been a violent mess for months now. You hear of frequent abuse of women in Muslim countries. It is just my opinion but the evidence seems to indicate to me that these people do not have the same respect for life that we do (we being Christian influenced nations such as the U.S. and many European nations). I understand and respect the fact that everyone has a right to believe whatever they want to but when someone's religious beliefs begin to threaten the lives of others then something has to be done. I just think we are kidding ourselves to think it is a very small minority of Muslims who want to harm us given the opportunity. I believe we should take a much more cautious and gaurded approach with these nations. Thanks for the friendly discussion. I really don't want to be right on this subject. I would prefer for everyone to respect their fellow man's right to live and have their own religious beliefs.
  5. It's awful funny for a religion that is supposed to be so peaceful that followers of Islam are consistently responsible for acts of terror from the 1993 WTC bombing, to the bombing of the U.S. Coal, 9-11, The fort hood shooting, and now riots in over 20 countries where U.S. citizens and embassy's are being attacked. I believe where there is smoke there is fire meaning that violence against non-muslims is within the context of the Islamic religion. All muslims are not terrorists but that doesn't mean that their religion doesn't promote violence. I'm curious if you have any proof to back up your claim that Islam is accepting of other religions? Specifically do you have any passage from their holy book that states that?
  6. I'm afraid too many people are going to buy into the media and government propoganda about this just being a spontanious mob rather than an organized effort to test the resolve and strength of this country. Everyday more information is coming out which show their were warning signs and that the attacks in Egypt and Lybia were organized. I'm afraid that too few people are going to see how this is a blatant example of how weak or president's foreign policies are and they'll re-elect him anyway. Then we really will be hurting but it will be too late for people to wake up then.
  7. Amen brother!! It is outrageous that the Arab nations in the Middle East will not leave Israel alone and allow them to have a small sliver of land to live in peace on. Iran's president has said on several occasions that he does not believe in the Holocaust and that his goal is to drive Israel into the sea. The Arab nations hate us because we support Israel which we should. They are still God's chosen people and they deserve to have a homeland after all they suffered through during WW2. The people in those Muslim nations can't be reasoned with. We would be wise to support Israel and become energy independent so we didn't have to worry about what the Muslim nations think about us or might do that would raise oil prices.
  8. How many late night talk shows and other tv shows openly mock Christianity and while there are small lunatic groups like Westboro Baptist church who are completely wrong and insane, you still don't see Christians murdering people and setting buildings on fire. You can't reason with people like that and America's leaders and citizens need to quit kidding themselves. Peace doesn't come through passivity and apology.
  9. First of all my condolences and prayers go out to the families of those who were killed. Yesterday was already a day of sorrow as we reflected upon the tragedy that occured 11 years ago and what occured in Egypt and Lybia just opened the wound up and added to the pain Septermber 11th already carried. I hope our leaders will respond to this outrageous act of violence properly. I know we can't send troops into every country in the world to police it but we can't set by and tolerate stuff like this and otheracts of violence such as recent killing of Americans in Afghanistan by supposed allies that we have trained and helped. President T. Roosevelt is known for the phrase "walk softly and carry a big stick." I believe you can't use the stick (military might) all the time but sometimes it is neccesary. And if others in the world see what happens to those on the receiving end of America's stick of military might and justice then I guarantee you it will make them think harder before getting an angry mob together the next time. To all of our troops, thank you for your service and may God bless and protect you!! And may God comfort the families who lost loved ones yesterday and give wisdom to our leaders.
  10. People who have paid into things like social security certainly deserve to receive their return on their investment. But much of these government programs are being abused. Unemployment used to only last for 12 weeks. I personally know people who have been on unemployment for almost 2 years and I also personally know of situations where people have made no effort to apply for certain jobs because they were making more on unemployment. I wise man once said the following and I think it describes where we are currently with all of the government handouts that are avaliable today. "You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the industrious out of it. You don't multiply wealth by dividing it. The government can't give anything to anybody that they don't first take from someone else. When someone receives something without working for it, someone else worked for it without receiving it. The worst thing that can happen in a nation is for half the people to get the idea that they don't have to work because someone else will work for them and for the other half to get the idea it does no good to work because they don't get to keep what they work for."
  11. We definetly are capable of putting up over 70 but I don't think that should be our focus. Honestly I would be more excited if our defense could pitch a shut out on Saturday than if our offense can score 70. I don't question what the offense is capable of as much as the defense. The other thing to remember is Ok St. just hung 84 on Savannah St. their opening week and then lost to Arizona the following week. So the fact that we have scored a combined 139 points in our last two games means nothing come Saturday. We just need to focus on executing and improving better every week. I'm really exciting with were Coach Holgerson has our team headed. Go Eers!!!!
  12. For James Monroe I would take Ben Thornton. He played just about every position but kicker and lineman during his time at JM. He almost single handedly helped us beat Wyoming East his senior season by playing the wildcat qb position instead of running back during the second half. If we had used him that way the whole game we probably would have won. Ben was a great player and a great guy as well.
  13. Amen brother!! Don't forget though, he is the fourth greatest president of all time lol
  14. Don't worry, everyone who understands what made this country great and truly understands what he has done for the last four years and how he is trying to completely transform the foundation of this country realize just how bad of a president he really is. I have yet to hear any of his supporters give a good reason (based on his record) for him to be re-elected. Meanwhile there are a vast number of reasons he shouldn't be re-elected. The latest evidence was today's jobs report. Of course he came out and said he wasn't satisfied either and that there was still a lot of work to do and it was congresses fault. First off, he had a democratic controlled senate and house for two years but he was too busy campaigning for obamacare to care about the economy during those two years. Secondly, if the amount of progress of economic recovery in his first 4 years are an indication of the progress America will experience during his second term, then in the words of Clint Eastwood "We gotta let him go"
  15. Well one big difference is mormonism doesn't promote spreading their religion through force, violence, and threat of death unlike Islam. The bottom line for me is we don't have a Christian candidate in either party running for president. However, Islam is much more dangerous and antaganistic toward all other religions than mormonism. Please understand that this is by far not the only reason I will once again not be voting for our president in his re-election campaign. 8 plus percent unemployment and 5 trillion added to the national debt doesn't help his case either.
  16. I hate to bust your bubble man but Barack Obama is not a Christian. He can put on an act all he wants to but the religion that guides his convictions is Islam not Christianity. If you don't believe me click the link below or go watch the new 2016 movie about Obama's past.
  17. Redtiger: I understand why you would say that the founders were speaking of God as a general term based on the decleration alone but I see too many other pieces of evidence to convince me they had the God of the Bible in mind. The Mayflower compact states:"In the name of God, Amen. We, whose names are underwritten, the Loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord, King James, by the Grace of God, of England, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, e&. Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia" The Liberty Bell has part of Leviticus 25:10 engraved on it. Lincoln in his secong inaugrial address said that the Union and Southern soldiers: "Both read the same Bible and pray to the same God, and each invokes His aid against the other." He also quoted from 3 different verses of Scripture. I'm not at all implying the government should require citizens to praise Jesus or be thrown in jail. No one can make a person believe something in their heart. But I don't think it is too much to ask people in this country who have been so blessed by God to acknowledge God or say One nation under God. God's Word even indicates the significance of acknowledging God for His blessings. Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. Psalms 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. Com74bsslc:I do know very well what mormonism teaches. They believe Jesus and Satan are brothers. They believe in 3 levels of heaven. They believe that God was once a man and that if you are a good enough mormon you can become a god. I'm not exactly sure why you brought that up. I never said anything about Gov. Romney and I know very well that he is not a Christian. My point was it is disgraceful that the democrats, unlike the republicans had to have a big debate as to whether even include the name of God in their party's platform. Is it really that hard to humble yourself and recognize that there is an all powerful God who is responsible for all of our blessings.
  18. While it is true that their is not Scripture in the founding documents it is very obvious that the founders knew that our freedoms came from God as they plainly state in the Declaration of Independence. There is, however, plenty of Scripture and Biblical references in other places far before 1945. Look at Lincoln's second inaugrial address. Look at the Jefferson Memorial. Look at JFK's inaugrial address (after 1945). Idk if your implying seperation of church and state but most people misunderstand that principle anyway. It is not in the constitution and it was intended to keep the state out of the church, not to keep the church from influencing the government. Also with your reference to Christ wanting us to be all loving. Jesus in Matthew 12:30 said whoever wasn't with Him was against Him. In John 14:6 He stated that He was the only way to obtain eternal life. While we are supposed to act in a loving way toward all people, there is an absolute truth which can only be found in Scripture. If the Bible is not the moral authority for this nation then what is?? It becomes a situation where everyone does what is right in their own eyes which leads to chaos and anarchy.
  19. I was just curious if anyone saw the scene at the Democratic National Convention last night where the delegates were asked to vote to ammend their official party platform in order to include wording that recognized God as the foundation for our freedom and liberty and declared Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel. This had been in their 08 platform but wasn't originally included in their 2012 platform. When the vote came up to include this phrase there was a big uproar of democratic delegates who were opposed to the motion. There is a link below that you can watch if you didn't see it yesterday. I was just wondering what your thoughts are?? For the record, I believe that our country was founded on biblical principles by men who feared and reverenced the God of the Bible. There is tons of evidence of that if you take the time to look and study America's history. I also believe that our blessings and our freedoms come from God and I think it is inexcusable to have not included a phrase to honor God in the democratic party platform. I also think the division seen in the voting shows that many on the left (not all) are anti God and anti freedom of religion. This on top of numerous economic failures under our current adminisatration makes it a no brainer for me as a Christian to know who I will not be voting for this fall. http://youtu.be/M4z64YjfEaQ
  20. Idk if you could say that Romney will be the savior of coal but I echo what was said earlier and that is he won't be the enemy of coal like Obama has been. The real enemy of coal is the EPA but the Obama administration has certainly been a friend to the EPA. I read somewhere recently that the Obama administration along with the EPA is trying to use the clean air act to basically accomplish enforcing a back door cap and trade policy. This administration's policies are killing coal driven plants and the coal industry. They are trying to convert everything over to clean energy (which has it's good points) but they are trying to do it far too quickly. Converting over to cleaner energy needs to be a slower calculated transition. If it is done too quickly people working in the industries that are being downsized will likely lose their jobs and be left high and dry.
  21. I think most Mountaineer fans, like myself, are pretty happy with how we played yesterday. Some people might dismiss their performance because it came against Marshall but I see a big improvement over last years season opener against the Herd. First off the game was never in question. WVU jumped out to a quick 2 TD lead and lead the entire game winning by 5 TD's. We were also much more balanced on offense than last year. Last year Marshall limited us to just 42 rushing yards. Yesterday WVU rushed for 331 yards along with passing for 324. Defensively we gave up a lot of yards and more points than you would like to see but part of that was due to the game being out of reach most of the second half. They did create 2 turnovers which I know the new D-staff has put a lot of emphasis on. Looking ahead, we should have an opportunity to work out some kinks against James Madison and Maryland before we get into the Big 12 schedule. I think we are capable of playing with anyone on our schedule which is exciting! Good start to the season and looking forward to what this team could accomplish this season!!
  22. Amen!!! This guy has added over 5 trillion dollars to our national debt (which he pledged to cut in half during his first term) gas prices have doubled on his watch, and he has been more concerned with campaigning for re-election than addressing the serious problems facing our country. Either he goes or the country you and I love and grew up in will be gone.
  23. Believe what you want to man. I felt like you first the first shot at the wvu fan for saying he didn't think Logan Thomas was the best dual threat qb in the nation. I can't really speak for the respect hokie fans do or don't give WVU on this forum because I haven't been on in awhile. I just know what I get from people I am around. And I have no reason to commiserate with 3 BCS bowl wins in the last 7 years which is more than the entire ACC conference has. I'm perfectly happy with my guys and I will let them do the talking with their play on the field.
  24. I won't try again actually because I don't want to get into a never ending argument. I live in the middle of hokie country and get easily annoyed with some of their fans who think that they are a BCS championship contendor every year and don't give WVU much respect. In response to your comment, I was just taking up for our boy Tavon and trying to give you a hokie fan little grief lol. I'm sure you guys will compete well to win your conference again this year as you always do. I'm excited for my boys to be in a stronger more stable conference and I expect us to make some noise and compete well for our confernce too.
