  1. you don't like the hits of the 80's, 90's and today ?!?!?!?
  2. who could stand to listen to those BDT guys for 2 hours???? I get tired of Dave by the 4th quarter. I kill Hypes after the first "How 'Bout" call, and I always tuned Lloyd out before the 1st series was over (knowing his style helped a lot there... I could listen to 2-4 other games while he was on... can't do that here. Actually, did that once here, a couple of months back.)
  3. rem. the 3x finalist from Liberty about 10 years back? He'a a head coach now, and "I know more about wrestling than anyone in the state of Virginia...". http://www.fauquier.com/news/2008/dec/02/footballs-over-guys-pull-your-singlet/
  4. after 8 straight trips to the finals, they lost AT HOME in the semis to Richmond Co. They hadn't lost on its field since Chris Leak was a freshman (1999) http://www.charlotteobserver.com/preps/story/397494.html http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/story/1323112.html
  5. Interesting ... Bogaczyk (formerly of Roanoke) did a story about this yesterday. http://www.dailymail.com/Sports/PrepSports/200812050154 ------ VHSL wouldn't have anything to do with this. And, apparently, football isn't as big of a draw in most other parts of the state as it is down here. Major problem is size... Va. has more than twice as many teams as WV. Start with 60 minutes... take out 12 for sponsors leaves you 48. That's 16 minutes per group, 4 minutes per Region. If you use the 2nd half to update scores from the 1st half, that's 2 minutes per, barely enough to run the scores and comment on 1 game. Another problem is getting stations to actually run it. About half the jocks are out the door 10 minutes after the game is over, which makes it hard to even get their scores. You want them to stay ANOTHER hour and a half? Funny. Actually, we tossed the idea around in Grundy a few years ago of having a SW VA deal. Didn't pan out. ANYBODY who knows anything about football is AT A GAME on Friday nights.
  6. They didn't pull his scholly, just said he wasn't the right fit.
  7. nobody played on a neutral field today. a "badly damaged" field in VA doesn't get you a venue change. Said that last weekend when ppl. were talking about Clintwood or Wise. Never has.
  8. Pulaski - Amherst tied at 7 at the half last year, finals were $10
  9. Yeah ... had the phone tied up with him for over 3 hours now.
  10. Richlands has it's own thread
  11. Stacy Houston from 9 out. Blocked kick. Mid 3rd, 47-0, Bees.
  12. Richlands tries an on-sides kick, but it didn't go far enough. Logan Thomas then hits Chad Mason for a 50 yard score. XPK good. 40-0, :08 into the 3rd.
  13. just got a call. "Tell Richlands not to cry too much". "This is from Tazewell".
  14. don't think it was in the M'neer
  15. too bad officials have to call penalties, isn't it? So, you're saying, if the stripes had NOT of called the procedure penalty, and Tazewell had later won, you would quit, right? ------ Let me clear up some things here... Nobody seems to remember a penalty on Tazewell that COST Richlands, what, 20 yards, on that re-punt? Tazewell did NOT miss a field goal ... it was an extra point kick (and they weren't the only team to miss an XPK today, either). The refs did NOT cost Tazewell the game ... TAZEWELL did. Sorry to say that, and I know that's going to tick some ppl. off, but it's the truth, so suck it up. Let's review what happened. After the TD, confusion. Were they going for 2, or 1? Players scrambling. AT LEAST one player wasn't where he was supposed to be. This wasn't "excessive celebration". This wasn't a phantom pass int. or hold. This wasn't an in-bounds or not guess. This was a PROCEDURE call. NO guessing/judgement required here.... it was cut and dried. THEN, Tazewell had a choice (again) to go for the tie or the win, and the play failed. (And IF you think the kick was good, look at the WVNS video at the 2:10 mark - I think that'll change your mind). http://www.boomboxradio.net/boombox/PlayerSetup/Players/WVNSTVPlayer.aspx?FileId=133480_wvnstv Now, either celebrate your 9-win season (which was, what, 8 more than last year?) and quit complaining, or move to Grundy!
  16. and Richlands would never have won state the first time ;-). Man, how many ppl. have complained about watered fields in SW VA in the past 20 years?????
  17. The VHSL has never declared a field unfit.... they don't do that.
  18. Here's the quote we used on our post-game show Bees senior quarterback Logan Thomas said. “We’re ready for next week. We’re ready to play against hopefully Richlands. We want another shot at them." That was in the Lynchburg paper this morning.
  19. you mean the home boys. Brookville will be the home team next week
  20. you don't think a team should get called for a penalty in OT, BF???
  21. Lynchburg next week ... at Brookville.
