  1. If Tazewell comes out with the same intensity that they played Richlands with. This gets ugly pretty fast. Tazewell is much better than their record. This will be a tune-up for the Dawgs before the play-offs.
  2. If I'm not mistaken, Stinespring was Coach Vaught's assistant in the late eighties when he won a state championship at Lexington High School.
  3. I agree with you Big D, it is hard to beat a team twice in one season. The only positive is if Tazewell and Graham play each other in the first round. That way we may only face one of them and not both, if we can take care of business ourselves.
  4. I don't think it was the play calling just piss poor execution. They have to be able to punch it in. Can't let teams like Maryland keep hanging around.
  5. Yes, they are long time friends. But, don't let that that fool you. Coach Friedgen (corrected previous spelling error) went nuts last year when Beamer kicked a field goal right before halftime last year to make it 40-something to 0. He will have the Terps motivated. Nothing like a good ole' fashioned butt kicking to get you motivated. This is a huge game. Friends or not, Maryland would like nothing better than to knock off the #3 team in the nation.
  6. No love lost here! Maryland's coach Regent went nuts last year when Tech was thrashing them in the first half. Tech should roll, but, Maryland will be ready to play. Should be a good game! Go Hokies!
  7. Like to be there to watch the game! It's going to be a good one. Good Luck to both teams!
  8. Sounds like people in Roanoke have been watching the weather channel and are terrified of the forecast. THE STORM IS COMING! (I couldn't resist) Thanks G-Man
  9. [ QUOTE ] i hate to see someone that good go thru as frustrating a season as he has......really really reminds me of jeremy mccommons's senior season [/ QUOTE ] Jeremy was a tremendous athlete. With that said, he also had a tremendous ego. During his senior season, I'm sure he learned to appreciate the offensive line that made him a star the year before!
  10. [ QUOTE ] prisons dont increase population only jobs example 1 keen mountain. did it increase the population of oakwood/garden NO example 2 red onion. did it increase the population of clintwood/pound NO all they did is give people an alternative to coal mining I honestly dont see TC consolidating except for pocy/graham but I do see WC consolidating soon simply because it doesent make sence to keep 6 schools open pound is 5 minutes from JJ kelly. appalachia is right beside powell valley and St. paul is about 5 minutes from coeburn the only school that wont consolidate is JI burton because they are a city school not county. next will be DC because we simply cant afford to build 3 or even 2 new schools the new school would be built in clinchco which is 20 mins from cwood, 15 from haysi, and 10 from ervinton. BC will be next hurley, and council are small and Twin valley is a product of consolidation (that has went very smooth)and is still small. BC would have two schools just close council and send those students to TV, close hurley and send them to grundy [/ QUOTE ] I mis-stated my thoughts on the subject. The new prison may not "increase" the population. But, it very well may sustain it, which would help fix the problem of continous lower enrollments in the area schools. You are right, an alternative to coal mining. But it is also an alternative to families moving away from Poca., Bluefield, Tazewell, Grundy, Richlands, Clintwood, Pound, Appalachia, Big Stone Gap....etc.... As for people moving away because of safety reasons, that has not nor will it be an issue. The VA DOC is one of the most respected in the entire nation.
  11. I for one am totally against any consolidation of the Tazewell Co. Schools except Graham/Pocohantas. What surprises me is that nothing has been mentioned about how poorly the county seems to be managed at times (i.e...the whole court house deal) The population of the Pocahontas/Tazewell/Bluefield area is bound to rise when the prison opens creating 400+ jobs. Look at Appalachia High with around 200 students! Richlands, Tazewell, and Graham are all currently AA schools with enrollments of 400-800 (approximation). I speak as a former Richlands football player, there is too much tradition in the three larger county schools to even speak of consolidation. Look at increased travel distances for all sporting events if all county and neighboring county schools decided to enact this cruel fate. I don't call for consolidation, I'm calling for less political B.S. and better management of our tax money!
  12. Man, everybody is on Groh's back fast! Every team has down years. Groh is a fine coach and UVA will be hard to contend with for years to come!
  13. I disagree, I feel if VT runs the table beating BC, Miami, and possibly FSU in the ACC title game, VT will be in the big show. No disrespect to Texas, but, VT does have a household name (Vick). But this scenario may not even play out. I think USC will get beat. USC still has to play Notre Dame (I smell an upset), Cal, and UCLA. I think it will be VT and Texas for the national title!
  14. Good Luck Tigers! Take it to the Bearcats!
  15. [ QUOTE ] Don't run your mouth D's i saw you run in one play with your head down trying to blast Jennings and he dropped you like a bad habbit. They had to help you off the feild that play if i do remember correctly. Dont bash one of your teammates for doing something when the same exact thing happened to you. [/ QUOTE ] You need to get your facts strait #20, Jennings hit you so hard you didn't even remember it. But apparently, one of you own fans saw it and remembered it! I was glad to see you were alright, but, you did get your eggs scrambled!
  16. I saw him lower his head and chill #20 Saunders.
  17. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] How bout them BLUES!!! So much for them "rabid dawgs" because the storm came, struck, and won! And what was with the cancellation signs hung e'where about the storm being cancelled!?!? Great job boys!!! Ya'll rest up this weekend and come back monday ready to dominate MARION!!!! FRIENDS DONT LET FRIENDS GO TO TAZEWELL! *haha* [/ QUOTE ]what the heck, i sure didnt see the storm like it was put out to be, it was 7-3 until the third quarter..and it was a good game. so much for ur shut out huh... wait, wait all i SHOULD say is we came played and scored. end of story. ~*Friends don't let friends go to richlands*~ [/ QUOTE ] For you, 9-30-05, was the day that your mighty pups scored a field goal on the vaunted "Storm" D making it the greatest triumph in your season. For us, it was another Friday night, another victory, and another annual trouncing of the pups!
  18. It's good to get the "shutout streak" over. This could have eventually been a distraction. Now, just concentrate on one opponent at a time.
  19. [ QUOTE ] lmao.... [/ QUOTE ] What does "Imao" mean?
  20. Richlands Raiders posted three wins over the Tazewell Chiefs on Sat. evening (9-17-05) Smurf team - the Raiders won in FOUR overtime period 26-24. It was an amazing game. Both teams showed alot of heart. Pee Wee - the Raiders won 22-6 (I think) I had the Midget team warming up and I missed the last half of the game. Midget - the Raiders won 12-8 in a hard fought game. We got behind by eight in the first half and ran off twelve unanswered points for the final tally. I am very proud of my boys, they played with alot of heart. I dressed out twelve players and earned a new respect for all coaches on every level. It is a little different when your calling the plays on the sideline. This is the first game the Midget Raiders have won in about two years.
  21. Richlands around here, period. I'm very curious about Liberty-Bedford, they apparently have a strong running game.
