  1. I thought that wishbone look that Graham went to in the second half was the best look they showed against Tazewell, they put the really big fullback in and ran the ball pretty much however they wanted to.
  2. What's the score at Union still 21-13?
  3. Sometimes I wonder if any decision ever really makes it past the county admin's desk.
  4. Nope we never got the chance to vote on wind energy our supervisors made the call to send away without even putting it on the ballot for the public to make the decision.
  5. Looked like the Giles single wing when Reece got hurt
  6. 7-0 Richlands Devon Johnson 7 yard run
  7. In short I don't think they have ever been able to make summer workouts a requirement but the long answer would be of course the coaches are going to play the guys who were out all summer before the guys who weren't. They are more familiar with th guys out during the summer and know they are more likely to stick with it during the fall
  8. I saw him one day last week I think he has somehow managed to get taller and bigger. I am not sure he will be brought down by any one person better be able to gang tackle him.
  9. I don't know how the RHS track team looked but lets get a few of your track stars put them in pads and let Devon run at them a few times. I have a feeling after about 2 carries there will not be any question about speed or power.
  10. I didn't mean it as "your" I guess I should have said the news is always a week late
  11. I guess I found another negative of the Bluefield Daily your news is always a week late, I took that right off their site yesterday
  12. Are all 5 Pappy finalists announced yet? Just a wild hunch but I would say Mr. Strong has a very good chance of being the 3rd winner from Richlands.
  13. "Bradley Strong of Richlands High School was honored Monday as Male Athlete of the Year in Virginia Group AA. His name, along with nine other prep students from across the state, was announced at the Allstate / VHSL Achievement Award at a luncheon in Charlottesville, headquarters of the Virginia High School League (VHSL). The students will receive $1,000 scholarships “to reward their outstanding participation in VHSL sports and/or activities and for their excellence in both the classroom and community,†according to a news release."

  15. Most of those schools are all AAA schools right? I am sure if we are looking at AAA schools to compare the two states Phoebus would be glad to play anyone on that list.
  16. On the Richlands you only have 2 on there, in 98 I know we had a helmet much like the one they wear now except the R was very blocky I will have to look and see if I have a photo somewhere the lightning R that is on now I think came around somewhere in 2003 or 204
  17. Region IV wins 12 out of 14 weight classes.
  18. I was watching online so I couldn't see the clock so I have no idea if he was out of time or not but it looked like the first official called the 2, then consulted with the other official and they agreed that it was before time ran out so they gave him the 2, then Travis came over and challenged the call regarding whether Epperly had control or not and they must have decided no he didn't have control so took the two off. I was under the impression that once they consulted the first time and gave the points they cannot change the call again and I wonder if that was why the head official was called over to discuss that aspect. Once they consulted to make the call I don't think there is any point in arguing because I don't think they can overrule themselves but I don't remember if that is still a rule or not.
  19. I have watched Grundy wrestling since the 80s and probably saw 85% of the matches during the 15 in a row Shane Bowman was the best by leaps and bounds the list in my opinion goes 1. Shane Bowman- just dominated 36 post season matches 35 pins 4 state titles 2. Tyde Prater- best technical wrestler they have ever had 3. Luke Owens- best heavy in AA history as far as I am concerned 4. Scott Justus- number 1 seed in NCAA tourny 5. A huge tie B.D. Albert, Griffey, Kendrick, Greg Stiltner too many to name There is really no excuse to be made Cburg is just a much better dual team tourny may be different who knows. I didn't say he was a transfer just that when Shane won at least 2 of those state titles he lived in tazewell county. Who's the all American on this years team I am guessing the 125 maybe and no in my opinion he is not even in the top 10 all time Grundy guys
  20. I know they both started at Grundy so of course not technically a transfer but the best wrestler Grundy ever had lived in Richlands during the majority of his high school career, Shane Bowman
  21. There is a big difference in Tourny teams and dual teams for sure but looking at Cburg I see the possibility they could win a lot of region and state individual championships Wert, Dance, Epperly, Epperly, Linkous, Eva, Mils and Porterfield, plus I think they will finish top 4 region at all 14. Grundy should have been able to keep this one a little closer though I would have thought one of the McClanahan's would win and for sure didn't think one would get pinned
  22. Will there be a Haysi next year? I don't mean that rude or anything but is next year the year that the consolidated school will open?
  23. I zoned out it was the 2 years prior to that Cburg won it, was last year they shuffled a lot our the year before I can't remember, I think Grundy matches up very well against them this year especially in a dual
  24. Well they wrestled one of the seeded schools several times last year but other than that one I can't imagine Grundy has wrestled any of the others within the last 10 years seems like they used to have a dual match with Nazareth and maybe even St. Marks but like I said thats been probably 10-15 years ago. Didn't Grundy used to go to the Beast of the East and the Poweraide prior to starting the annual Reno trip? Almost all the seeded schools are private schools as well and can legally recruit right? It really boils down to match ups at this event how do your best guys match up, last year both Grundy and Cburg got hot and won their respective divisions because they got favorable matchups
  25. My guess and this is strictly a guess is Grundy was moved up a division this year from American to National it's a big step and it looks like they are seeded 10th in that division, they actually got a decent seed it appears though Grundy's problem seeding wise is they haven't wrestled any of those schools this year where as all of the seeded teams were at the Beast, the Poweraide tourny, and the Ironman. I hope both Region IV schools do well this week but it's going to be an uphill climb for both in my opinion they both have loaded weight classes but weights where they just can't compete
