Giles fan here just wanting to wish good luck to my Spartans Saturday against a good Goochland team. Also got to wish Richlands and Coach Mance(Giles alum) good luck Saturday against Rockbridge County. Get another one Giles and Coach Mance bring one home buddy!

If you see Mance tell him his Giles posse is rooting like heck for him to bring home the title!

Great job today Richlands and good luck next week in the Championship game. Bring it home boys. I would love to be there to root you on but me and my fellow Giles Spartans have a little business in Harrisonburg to try and take care of. Good luck Coach Mance get yourself another title to add to the one you won as a player here at Giles. We all know Mance very well and are hoping he can get a ring as a coach. Bottom line is the #1 seed whether it's Giles,Lebanon or whoever it is should decide which day and time game should be played and nobody other than the #1 seed should have any say-so about it. Isn't that the reason you play to get the #1 seed? Well that plus you're playing on your home field. It isn't like WV where travel is a big issue that's why VA has regions to minimize the travel time. Check any VHSL book you want but I know this is the rule I heard it from another coach on another team's mouth.

Worst call in football history at any level. Guy was at least(being nice about it) 3 yards out of bounds when he caught the ball and the idiot refs says TD Salem....no doubt in my mind they were paid off.Total crock and those guys should never ref another game not even at the pee wee level!

I don't care when we play. Just the fact that Lebanon should have no say-so at all in the matter.....Where you from anyway? is your team still alive in playoffs?

Reason is Lebanon refused to play Friday night and wanted to play Saturday so Giles said play Friday afternoon instead and Lebanon agreed. Reason is security issues...Most of Giles cops will be working Tech game Sat plus the ones already on duty can't stay for all the game so the security was the main issue. Bottom line is VHSL gives the home team the right to choose game day and time BUT if visitors don't agree to something it MUST be played Saturday at 1:30...total crock if you ask me.....Home team says play Friday night then that's when game should be played PERIOD....Lebanon wants to whine about it but they should have NO input whatsoever...Giles is #1 seed Lebanon is #2 so they should do what the team with homefield advantage says....

No im not from Giles but I know how that place works over there. When the refs are from Monroe county you should know you're in trouble before the game starts!

U can't be serious about the away team getting the shaft at James Monroe? No there is no way that ever happens. LOL! JM rips every team that is better than them in that hick town cowpie field of theirs. I have nothing to do with bluefield but I hope they somehow win this game!

Giles won't be playing William Campbell and Grayson Co(Thank god) next year and have picked up Lebanon and George Wythe as well. Looks like GW is putting together a pretty tough schedule!

William Campbell at Giles next week. Battle of defending division 1 and 2 state champs. Should be a good one. Giles trying to pay them back for their only loss last year!

Giles don't play till September 1st. JM plays on August 25th. JM has a game a week earlier so they started practice a week earlier than Giles. Not saying anything bad but a week's worth of practice means a lot right now. Scrimmages are a joke anyway except for the coaches. Giles looked bad last year in the scrimmages at Pulaski but we all see what happened in the end.

Everyone consider that JM has had 1 more week of practice than Giles has had so JM should be a little ahead of Giles at this point. No worries the Spartans will be just fine and JM should be OK also!

How in the world is Giles not in your Sweet 16? Come on they did win the state last year and have a number of players coming back. Plus some of the ones you have in there are questionable. But it's your poll and I guess you can put who you want!

Why not put Giles and Narrows in the same district? I mean dang they are 5 miles apart and in different districts. Stupidest thing i've ever saw is these 2 schools in different districts!

Congrats to Coach Ragsdale and the Giles Spartans on winning the State Championship this past Saturday in Harrisonburg against a VERY VERY good Manassas Park team. Great job to Ricky Cook and the rest of the Spartans on a great season. Giles had a tough stretch this year with Cook missing a few games to injuries but the others came together,got through the tough times then all came together once our leader got back to full strength! Offensive line did a wonderful job all year long and in the title game Nathan Tanner,Logan Witt and alot of other players that don't get the press Cook does came up huge. Great "TEAM" effort this season and I am so proud of the Spartans. Enjoy it guys cause you just never know when it's going to happen again,if it ever does happen!!

Lunenburg Central was the team Giles beat in the 1993 State title game!

Giles fan here rooting of course for my beloved Spartans but I have to also root for the Big Blue also. Know Mance very well from his Giles days and want to see my boy bring home the trophy to Richlands this weekend. Wish I could be in Lynchburg to root him on in person but we have business to take care of in Harrisonburg against a VERY good Manassas Park team that brings a 27 game winning streak into the game. Once again good luck to Giles and my 2nd favorite team Richlands.........Bring it home Mance!

Just wanted to say good luck to Giles and Richlands. Gotta root for the Big Blue since their coach is a former Giles alum and great athlete while at Giles. Go Spartans and Big Blues....Get yourself a ring Mance!
