  1. If you read the comments on the video there is one from a guy that supposedly teaches officials and he said he was going to use this vid to teach officials what NOT to do on such a play. These clowns have no business on a football field their mechanics on a goal line play were horrible, such a shame for the kids that worked so hard they deserved much better.
  2. The QB (Treadway?) and the tall WR (Rollo?) have to make the 1st team in my opinion. Jake Lilly has to be the Defensive Captain also.
  3. That is what the Magnolia faithful said last week too.....we shall see.
  4. Quite remarkable that the Beavers are making their sixth trip to the state finals in Wheeling in the last 8 years. I am not sure the average fan fully understands the hard work and commitment required to accomplish such a remarkable feat. Congrats to the players and coaches for such hard work and dedication. My hat is off to all of them.
  5. Last time was 2005 at James Monroe....semi-final game.
  6. I never said a word about Richlands dude, all I said was a lot of AA teams do not have the guts to play Bluefield.....if the shoe fits wear it.
  7. Since most AA teams around here do not have the guts to schedule the Beavers I expect they will be replaced with the ever popular "Open".
  8. I sort of doubt that Sherman is a passing team and a bad field hurts them also.
  9. It has to be a problem with the coaching staff, kids would not do those things unless it was taught and even encouraged by the coaching staff. I am glad we don't play them in the regular season. They have zero class.
  10. If they play at Mitchell it would have to be on Saturday. Bluefield has the Stadium on Friday night.
  11. Congrats to the G-men, players and staff, way to turn things around. Good luck in the playoffs.
  12. I noticed that also. That "newspaper" and I use the term very loosely, is a joke to say the least.
  13. RCB is playing for their playoff life..if they win they are in. I am sure they will play hard and the Beavs had better be ready to battle.
  14. Well let's all just live in the past....go back two years for an "hot chocolate incident" or even back to some little league baseball incident with Jake Lilly to try and make some trouble. Get over it people. Two great football teams battled it out Friday and one of them won and one of them lost. Life will go on. As for the kickers going out to warm up I don't see much trouble with that, no need for them to stay in the locker room since they play no other positions and from what I hear with the language barrier would not understand what was being discussed much anyway. I am sure this was not an intentional act on the part of the JM coaching staff.
  15. Nothing is more important in high school football than coaching. Players come and players go, but coaches stay and build the programs that are successful year in and year out.
  16. Well back in the day, they would refer to it as a "slobber-knocker". As G-man said Jake de-cleated the poor guy and nearly took his head off in the process, he laid there for quite a while I would expect he was knocked cold by the hit. One of the best and cleanest hits I have ever seen, the poor fellow did not know what hit him.
  17. Jake Lilly would get my vote here also.....a hard nosed, football player that backs down from nobody. The kid is a beast and has been for four years at BHS. If you googled "football player" I would not be surprised if Jake's picture did not come up.
  18. Congrats to the G-men. Way to turn things around....finish strong you can do it.
  19. There has been some talk about a "semi-final weekend" much like "Championship weekend" in Wheeling were all 12 teams would travel to a single location to play the semi-finals. Mercer County would be an ideal location for such an event should the WVSSAC opt to try and make this happen. With three turf fields in Mercer County the games could be played on Friday night and Saturday afternoon that weekend with the A games at Concord, the AA games at Princeton and the AAA games in Bluefield. This would also be on Thanksgiving weekend and with Black Friday being the biggest shopping day of the year it would be a real boom to the local economy. The local hotels and resturants would also benefit from this idea, and teams and fans from all over the state could be exposed to our "southern hospitality". The down side would be the travel that some schools would have to endure but the SSAC does not seem to have a real problem with that given the fact that they have no problem with the Championships being in Wheeling the next weekend. I would really like to see this idea catch some traction. No school would be playing on their home field, since even if Princeton made the finals they would play in Bluefield, and Bluefield would play in Princeton should they advance that far. Since no school calls Concord its home field, a neutral field would be be insured for all games.
  20. As a wise old football coach once said. "Football plays do not win football games, football players do" The Beavers have some football players! What Jake Lilly did last night was simply incredible! I have never seen such an effort from one player in my life. Once Marcus and Levi heal up and can rejoin the team the Beavers should be a force to be reckoned with in AA in late November and early December.
  21. No other AA team can claim two AAA victories in three weeks. That is why they have such a commanding lead at this point.
  22. Not so sure that is true, the Kennedy has gone to AA players for the past two years.
  23. I think you will see quite a show...the Charlotte team is talented and very well coached. It should be a battle at Mitchell next Thursday night. I am looking forward to it.
  24. It on Thursday due to a religious holiday on Friday per reguest of CCDS.
