  1. We are obviously on different pages terminology-wise, but that happens. No worries here. It all comes down to blocking and tackling in the end anyway.
  2. Their main play is the super power toss, that is the "bunched up" looking play. Everything else they do is prefaced off of that. They run criss cross (counter, double handoff), trap off of buck action, buck sweep, waggle pass and belly. Veer is actually the path the dive back takes in a triple option oriented offense, but generally the play is called "veer". That play is set up by identifying one or two players that won't be blocked, but rather "optioned" on the play, requiring a decision by the qb. Generally Veer option teams (this year John Battle ran quite a bit of Veer and midline from split backs) use wider splits to give the back a better path to "veer" on, and to give the qb longer to "ride and decide". With that being said, Riverheads is almost foot to foot on their line splits, and probably running belly that may look like Veer to some. Difference is, no one is going unblocked, and the QB reverses out rather than opens up playside.
  3. Not trying to argue, but maybe it's a terminology difference, but I went back and watched week 1, and didn't see one veer play ran by Riverheads.....
  4. I have no reactions left but I agree.
  5. Riverheads has some wing T roots, but their offense is really more of the hybrid "double wing" style that later developed. They have foot to foot splits and depends largely on the "super power" play that involves kicking out with the fullback (who is set much closer to the QB than in the wing T) and pulling the guard, tackle, and also using the QB as a blocker after he tosses the ball. They supplement with the trap, counter and buck sweep. They run it with great precision and are well coached. Central is a true wing T team and you are definitely correct in saying that it is nearly impossible to stop. They are just now coming into their own, so to speak, after having to make some personnel adjustments and getting their timing down. I think this will be a good game. Tazewell is very disciplined as far as assignments go, but very undisciplined as far as conduct on the field and unnecessary penalties. This will be interesting for sure. I think a defensive struggle will ensue, and the team that is able to score at all is likely to win this game. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 7-6 or 12-7 score.
  6. What if one district or the other is really weak and we didn't know it because no one has played each other? That would suck lol
  7. What makes all these predictions so difficult this year is that we have no point of reference with most teams only playing within district. You can't always count on common opponents giving a clear picture, but it sure helps in gaging competition levels. Strange season.
  8. 2 unsportsmanlike in one game I'm pretty sure.... but it changes so I may be wrong.
  9. Bolling, Crabtree, Brickey and Eldridge play alot. No other seniors that have started consistently or that have played much. Mostly juniors and sophomores. Edit: missed one.... Dingus. So 5.
  10. Central is playing 4 seniors as well....
  11. 27-14 Lebanon. I think their defense is about the same as John Battle's. Lee scores 2 but it's never really close. They have some decent defensive linemen that will help keep Lebanon from driving it down their throat.
  12. One thing to consider is preparation time. If Tazewell is in quarantine, that is bound to affect how prepared they are for Central's offense.
  13. Once they get a lead they get really conservative. Some criticize that, but they trust their D. They only basically ran 3 different offensive plays in the second half from 2 formations.
  14. Agreed. Central is just now starting to click. They have hit their stride at the right time. And this is by far the best defense they have had in school history.
  15. I'm not gonna say that Central will win, but they certainly can. The thing about this bunch is that they usually play to the level of their competition. I think it will be close one way or the other.
  16. Next Friday at 7pm. Should be a dog fight!
  17. Ok pet peeve.... its hook and lateral, not hook and ladder.... 😀
  18. Just saw it on their Facebook page.....
  19. I hope they all are able to play. Is Tazewell in quarantine as well? If so, what would happen to the seeding? Definitely questions that may have to be addressed soon, but I hope not.
  20. A roll of the dice for sure.... not only covid but injury as well....
  21. It depends on the health district. Central couldn't come back from quarantine before 10 days even with the negative test. The new director in the LENOWiSCO district would allow the 7 days with a positive test.
  22. If Union plays their starters, they name the score.
  23. A little history on Central's win at Bullit Park last night.... 1984 was the last time Pound won at Bullit Park, 2008 and 1978 JJK won at Bullit Park, Central had never won at Bullit Park. Tells you how special that place is.
