  1. last time I went up if you stayed in the stadium it was only 1 fee but you had to pay twice if you left. Galax and Riverheads may be a fast game due to Riverheads style and that means a LONG break between games. If I drive up this year I may go grab some food between games.
  2. Its across all of Buchanan Co. late 80s Garden was a D2 school, now Garden and Whitewood (admittedly always a small enrollment school) are under 200 students. Mid 90s Grundy had an enrollment of around 1,000, now they're under 400. Hurley as late as the mid 90s was a D2 school which would have put their enrollment in the 325 range at minimum, now its well under 200. Council has maintained a slow decline but no where near what other parts of the county have seen. Dickenson Co has seen a similar decline: Clintwood in the 70s had an enrollment larger than Ridgeviews today.
  3. I thought GWs move up to Group 2 was a typographical error, that was later pointed out and corrected?
  4. Since enrollment figures are being thrown around, the March 2018 numbers are Graham 510, Grayson 489, Riverheads 447 Three schools that are all basically the same size. The difference here is, like them or not, Graham isn't crying about their situation.
  5. They have caught considerable hell on here since petitioning to play down. Their limited success wont earn them the same scorn but whatever success they have next season will be tainted by playing down.
  6. Absolutely. Any request to play down is gonna be widely ridiculed Im a big fan of the Riverheads program, especially their offense. Its impressive any time a team comes out with 70+ kids, and as a fan of really good run offenses I gotta love Riverheads but their request to play down is cowardly(not a reflection of the kids at all) and its suspicious how they almost always manage to stay just under the cutoff
  7. Well theyre gonna be in Group 2 next season
  8. Should have said "seems like everyone". Put me in that group. I'm a believer now
  9. I think GW absolutely has a chance this Saturday , hope they bring the title back to SWVA
  10. Way I hear it they mixed in a lot of 2s with their 1s the entire scrimmage. Demolished might not have been the right wording, but GW wouldn't have been able to hang 1s v 1s. The gap between 1A and 2A in regions C and D is huge. Look at Grundy getting stomped by Central, who got bounced in round 1. Not trying to knock GW, they obviously have a really good team but the competition level just isnt the same.
  11. 2A already knows, Riverheads had their hands full with a Tazewell team that has been good, but wasnt that good or that physical. Wait till the Gladiators gets ahold of Graham, or the top M7 teams. We can come back and revisit this after Saturday but GW got demolished by Union in a preseason scrimmage, not competitive at all and Union lost in round 1.
  12. Im no Graham fan but this is true. Everyone has doubted them all season.
  13. On the back end it makes sense, 1 on 1 coverage across the board but the problem, like you said, is you don't have the time for that. Grahams DL is incredibly good, every one of them are very good and as a group they don't have a soft spot
  14. I think Beavers has the skills to be used in the same way but with more explosiveness, but you're right Hill does have more strength. If Hill was used like a H-Back/TE in a good play action system he'd be about impossible to cover
  15. I'd take Beavers over Hill, but they do forget about Hill. They forget about a lot, but offensively speaking it's a pretty young staff and that will get better with experience. Grahams front 7 is very good and play a very agressive scheme. There's no time for deep passes, you gotta get the ball out now
  16. I'm going with Ridgeview in a close game. The Wolfpack have better playmakers, line play is about equal, and physicality is about equal. Palmer and Co do a really good job and the G-Men execute well but I think RV will just have a little too much for Graham.
  17. The last play of the half, Hackney is a good kid and im sure wasnt trying to take a dirty shot on anyone but the QB was down, idk if the whistle had blown or not but Gabe definitely hit him after his knees were down. The play before that was just a clean, hard shot. A defender isnt allowed to pick a ball carrier up in the air and slam them down, thats a unsportsmanlike penalty.
  18. That was his brother Jake, Jeremy had a injury early in his high school career that cut his football career short.
  19. Abingdon 0 Christiansburg 0 Halftime. Demons with 1 missed and 1 blocked FG
  20. Union w 3 straight incompletions, 4th down pass went for 9.5 yds. Turnover on downs GC ball. Kneel down Devils win 21 -14
