  1. Rich Rod isn't going anywhere. Some coaches contacted the WVU AD and wanted to put their names in the hat if he did leave; the most surprising name on the list. . . . BUD FOSTER. No kidding.
  2. The WAC is by no means a better conference--lay off the pipe.
  3. They have been running, working out, and rumored to have been practicing throughout the process.
  4. West Virginia could outrun a pack of coked-up cheetahs - How have the Moutaineers not accidentally traveled backwards through time yet? Let's run down the checklist: - By far, the best rushing quarterback in college football? Check: Pat White. - Supremely talented running back picked by Sports Illustrated before the season to finish second in Heisman voting? Check: Steve Slaton. - Teeny-tiny freshman blur who just carried five times against Maryland for 136 yards? Check: Noel Devine. (That's an average of 27.2 yards a carry, and it's not a fluke. I watched the game, and this little waterbug - he's 5-8, 170 - can scoot. He carried five times last week for a 15.2-yard average against Marshall.) WVU might not win the title, but they are obscenely fun to watch.

    Pocahontas

Please don't follow Popeye's advice and apply to become an educator. The SOL scores are low enough without you interjecting your spelling and logic skills into the mix.
  6. I am positive that 10 tackles in a single game is not any sort of record. That's a fine game, but I know that it is not a record setting game. That's one more testament to the team play that this team displayed consistently.
  7. What an idiot. Frank Beamer's All-American Ballot Deadspin got ahold of Frank Beamer's All-American ballot, which further proves that coaches shouldn't be allowed to vote for anything, including president or American Idol. It's unspeakable. It features: Six(!) Hokies: OT Duane Brown, P Brandon Pace, DE Nolan Burchette, LBs Vince Hall and Xavier Adibi, and CB Brandon Flowers. (Please note that VT only placed three players on the all conference team.) A total of 13 players (out of 24) from the ACC, including three fourths of the secondary. (Please note that the ACC is the worst BCS conference in the country and VT, 14th, is its highest ranked team.) A player from Duke, John Talley. (Please note he plays for Duke.) The inexplicable inclusion of Toledo tight end Chris Hopkins. (What?) Beamer's apparently never heard of Reggie Nelson, Alan Branch, or Patrick Willis but knows the ins and outs of MAC tight ends. Also irritating: Beamer voted for four defensive ends and four cornerbacks. Question: Shouldn't a team with six All-Americans be better than #14? If Beamer's ballot is to be believed, he's done the worst coaching job in the country this year. And we know that's not true because Jeff Bowden had a job until recently.
  8. I think that he'll stay at WVU. ESPN went off of a Birmingham paper release--they have admitted they jumped the gun. Not so fast, my friend.
  9. I live in Central Virginia; Richlands would probably beat TA this year. TA is not the team they were last year. TA outplayed them last year in the state championship; however, I believe that this year would not yield the same result. In my opinion, the best team around here that is in Division 3 is Robert E. Lee--Staunton.
  10. After watching Virginia Tech last night on national television, I think it would be pretty hard to ever try and support them. The Hokies are a collection of "me" centered, disrespectful, fair weathered a$$ clowns. I try to stay neutral and like them because they are from the area, but they consistently disappoint. Fighting on the sidelines, dancing while down by 19 in the 4th quarter, ugly uniforms, those stupid skull caps, forever running their weinie washers after every single play--what a collective waste of oxygen. Beamer ball has officially become "Cleveland Steamer" Ball. If Virginia Tech played against Al Qaida, I'd probably cheer for the Arabs.
  11. The Charlottesvill Daily Progress had a nice article dated August 30, 2006, about Cain being the back up fullback as a walk on redshirt freshman. Coach Groh is complimentary of Cain and the Richlands program. Here are a few excerpts from the article. For many Cavalier fans, the names Cain Ringstaff and Mike Robertson are mysteries. Don’t be shocked, however, if both play against the Panthers at Heinz Field. Ringstaff, a redshirt freshman, is listed as the backup fullback, while Robertson, a junior, is listed second on the depth chart behind Kevin Ogletree at one of the two wide receiver slots. Looking for a reason? Virginia coach Al Groh said it was “dependability,†which “is a skill as much as other circumstances.†“Cain Ringstaff had a great camp. He’s got toughness, good skills,†Groh said during his weekly press conference on Tuesday. “He’s a [uVa fullback Josh] Zidenberg-type of player with a Zidenberg-type of record. “Josh had an excellent high school record of achievement. Cain also does at Richlands. He’s used to playing in big games and they have a good program down there. He’s a very dependable player.†It's good to see a local program and player get the attention.

    scores?

Richlands 42 Gate City 14 Second series of the third quarter and Richlands has taken their starters out.
  13. 1. Mike Compton 2. Sandy Rogers 3. Terry Wess 4. Eric Yost 5. Brandon Breeding
  14. Hurst and a number of other businesses were involved, I'm pretty sure that Randy's Gateway Drug had something to do with it too--they really did look cool though
  15. I think that these tornado towels are a great idea; it's nice that the business community is behind the team. If you've ever seen a Steeler crowd, the "Terrible Towel" is always being waved. Hopefully, the "Tornado Towel" will become a similar tradition for the Blues.
