In most coaching jobs it comes down to the Jimmys and Joes and not the X's and O's. I have always heard good kids can make a bad coach look good and bad kids can make good coaches look bad
To me, Blacksburg is in SWVA. And Giles is in between VT and Bristol. So they are solidly a SWVA team to me. Redford not so much, and Glenvar definitely not. But I think Giles is.
So Blacksburg is SWVA but Radford which is before Blacksburg is not ok makes sense to me.
Richlands developing only improves SWVAs chances of bringing home a state title. I hope to see 1 or 2 titles in far SWVA this season. I think the region has the teams to do it
If there are state titles for SWVA it would be in 2A or 3A I think Alta VIsta has the 1A title as long as they remain healthy
I could see a DC/Asst. DC setup woking out. Maybe have 1 in the box calling plays and the other on the sideline working with the players. I think the staff members are good enough guys to make it work no matter who got the top position. I think everyone really cares about the kids and put them #1. You are right about there needing to be a mix of staffs and I believe there will be.
When the Ervinton guys came to Haysi it worked out really well and went smoothly. Im hopeing it will be the same case at Ridgeview.
The Ervinton guys went to High School at Haysi so it will be a little different integrating the two staffs of Clintwood and Haysi. However I feel it will be a smooth transition and great coaches on both sides.
I think if we were saying "Lee will suck at Battle because he has always sucked" we would be out of line, the facts are he simply hasnt got it done in the past and we are just pointing that out.
The school board has some splainin to do imo. They had 2 shots to bring in high quality coaches for their programs and(looking at history) they failed.
Witten got things rolling at Battle, turned the corner so to say and Wright made the most out of what they had.
Just curious to see who were the 2 shots they had?
I think that everyone needs to realize that it depends on the positions that are available (teaching). This is not GA or TX where they just hire a coach and pay them 70-90 thousand dollars.

OK falcon fan it is a much better hire than they had several years ago I think you know who I am talking about
A big problem that previous coaches and coaching staffs had at Tazewell was discipline. I think if Allen is going to be successful he needs to clean house with the coaching staff and start with people that actually can and want to coach.
i know the merger of erivnton, haysi, clintwood, is coming soon, whats everyones thoughts about the wave joining cumberland??? i hoped they would join the bdd.
The coaches at clintwood voted to join the Cumberland. Both the BDD and Cumberland said they would admit Clintwood. I would say travel and some old LPD foes played a lot into it.
