Im sorry! This is not the best team Hurley has ever had. They have had 2 teams that have made it to the state semifinals and that was in 86 and 92. By far they were better than this years team.

I would say you do........So they can pick on someone smaller and get a win....lol

By the way Moorehead is a D1-AA non scholarship school or was at one time. So most NAIA schools are ahead of them. They are in the same conference that jacksonville and austin peay are in and UVA-Wise use to hand them whippins every year. they are still a good football team but not your usual D-1AA team. I do know that Wise always beat jacksonville and austin peay every year. They may be a full scholarship team now. Most NAIA schools are on the same level as most D2 schools.

You say Hurley dont have dicipline.....They are down to 16 players and it is because of dicpline. all those players did not quit. three seniors and starters were kicked off the team because of diciplinary reasons. they should have been kicked off last year but they couldnt afford that because of their playoff season. If they dont win a game this season at least the took care of their diciplinary problems. It says something to kick you best two defensive players off the team,.

I understand waht you are saying and i say the wrestling program does take away from football because its hard to focus on getting stronger and faster when they are expecting you to lose 30 pounds and wrestle 103 weightclass. Im sure Dale Cox is not the only one behind this. You should not blame all this on Dale. But that is wrong if he is doing that. I know for a fact that this does goes on at Grundy. That is a major reason Grundy struggles with football

Is that why Grundy always wanted to pay Hurley to come over there and play instead of at the cliff.....Or they just too good to play at the cliff.....

Every coach on the staff at hurley has had a successful career.

Just for the record Hurley also went 8-2 in 1991 and 1992.

Hurley is a very young team and plus coach has kicked 2 or 3 of his seniors off the team. Its gonna be a long year for the rebels and that is no surprise. They sill have a chance to win some games.

The rebs played without joey may during the motcalm game because of some diciplinary reasons. Coach also kicked josh justus and brandon justus off the team for diciplinary reasons. they are going into the thomas walker game without 3 of their top players and this will b make a difference. Joey May is expected to be back.

Thomas Jones had 3000 yards rushing his junior year and 2500 his senior year. Ed Clark also had bac to back 2000 yard seasons and most of that was in the first half. Melvin Cunningham from Matewan had back to back 2000 yards and so did curt warner

What have you been smoking? Bradshaw before the jones boys. He is good but not on that level yet. Garon marcum and adam davis are not even the best to come out of their schools. Ed Clark from Appalachia was the best football player ever to come out of this area. He is the Jones boys uncle.

they will definately be 20 kids and i would say a lot of new faces. If 38 are saying they are going to play i woul expect about 25. One of the players said they were 19 in the weight room on monday so thats not bad for the first day of lifting.

I heard about week ago that everbody is elgible and ready to go........just might be a new face at quaterback......somebody said hurley had 38 at the first meeting..... and twin valley might also be a force this year

What about the running back form Hurley? He was one of the best is swva last year?

He wasnt the best running back in Buchanan county..........

Now there is no reason to bring castlewood and hurley into this........Hurley beat ervington very easy last year and im not for sure if castlewood beat them.....Like I said the coach is doing what he can with what he has got. Remember anybody can coach talent.........

Ervington has never had a good program so their is only room for improvement....He has did just as good as anybody else. They should have a better year this year.

Coach is a good guy. He has just stepped into a bad situation but they are making improvement.

I think Big Creek was the best team that hurley beat this year. They had a good group of boys and they were a well coached team. I would say they were probably the hardest hitting team that hurley played all year. Everbody wanted to say hurley played a weak schedule by playing WVA teams but i think they would have beat anybody hurley played but haysi and honaker...I have the upmost respect for them because their boys go out and give it their all. If they coimbine with Ieager they will be hard to deal with....I hate this for the big creek community..

Caleb Jennings should get all district running back. If there is a better running back inSWVA i have never heard of them....This little guy is amazing......Quick, fast, and runs like he is 215 pound and is only about 155.....Jennings and Mckraken is the 2 best players in the area.

Hurley actually played one of the worse ballgames they had all year. Hurley was inside the 10 yardline 4 times in the first hafl and come up with no points on the board. They fumbled twice i think inside the 10 and turned th bll over on downs twice. They also had kickoff return for a td calld back on them.....Hurley had its chances but couldnt manage no points....It was 8-0 late in the second and hurley had been in appy territory all half and could not punch it in.....Shane Justice had a 99 yard kickoff retun for a touchdown called bac when it was 14-0 and that broke their backs.....from there on Appy just wre hurley down.....Hurley had several defensive stands....but their line jsut wore hurley's line down. Late seaon injuries really hurt hurley going into this game......Dont think it would have made a difference in the game but it would have been better.....I think Hurley had the better skill but the big boys just wore them down.....Good luck to appalachia nest week at norton.........Hurley you had a great year, hold your heads high.
