  1. Seems like everyone is counting Tazewell out. No matter what kind of year Tazewell is having you can never count them out. You never know what is going to happen when Richlands and Tazewell play each other. There have been upsets over the years by both teams when they have faced each other. I predict the winner will be the team that shows up to play and wants it most.
  2. Abingdon showed that they have a very good football team. I have to agree that Graham, Grundy, and Tazewell will have their hands full with this team. Abingdon and its fans have a team to cheer on this year.
  3. [ QUOTE ] Only 15 yards for improper cleats doesn't make any sense. Is it 15 yards and they are forced to immediatly chagne cleats? Why would it only be 15 yards, the team is only being penalized for a single drive for an advantage that lasts the entire game. [/ QUOTE ] Instead of continuing your game of asking questions just to aggravate people on the board, why don't you look it up and find the answers yourself. Seems like every time someone replies to you, you act as if they are lying to you. If you want some facts here are some which I am sure you will probably deny or contest: Fact: Richlands wore illegal cleats in a state semifinal game that I am sure you were well aware of before this post, fact: Richlands won the 1992 state championship, fact: Richlands won the state simifinal game in 2006 and fact: Richlands won the state championship. There's you some gravy to put your spoon in and stir.
  4. I thought it was as bad a call as was made in the Salem game last year when the kid caught the ball 5 yards out of bounds and it was called a fair. The officiating lacks a lot to be desired.
  5. Congratulations Caleb. You have earned it, hands down. Thanks for the great games.
  6. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Big Blue Alum- the band did used to play on offense and now that it is such a big deal they have stopped...why dont they just skip the tryout things, cj arms skipped his choir tryouts for the graham game...all he had to do was go to it and he would have had a scholarship to college. i still dont understand y college students are in our band [/ QUOTE ] You can't blame them for choosing tryouts over the football game. They're musicians, not football players. The people in charge though should understand they have three schools playing for State Championships on the day of the tryouts. Same thing happened last year so that changes "honest mistake" to "don't care" [/ QUOTE ] I have to agree with BigD on this one. The powers to be should have enough foresight to schedule these events on days that would not be affected by any team in the district that may end up in the play offs. Its not just the band either. The choir scheduled a couple of concerts recently that went unnoticed due to it taking place on a Friday night when football was being played.
  7. I have to go with Shane Wicks and Austin Fuller for Richlands, with several others mentioned above stepping up their game as well.
  8. Big Sexy has agreed to model the new State Champion shirts or anything else thats needed, lol.
  9. Thanks Cola, I liked the Perfect Storm as well.
  10. Hmm, guess I should jump in here. State Champion shirts will be available at Vickie's Gift Shop in Raven. Should be in on Tuesday or Wednesday. No not just a cheap advertisement, just putting the word out. lol
  11. Thats right BigD. No need to sugarcoat it. Richlands is the real team this year, and they have proven it time and time again.
  12. Congratulations Big Blue. You guys deserved it. Great job.
  13. Shane had an awesome game, the hit of the decade, an interception ran in for a TD, and his name was called all day. Sounded like the MVP of the game to me. Great job Shane and all the team on a great effort.
  14. IMO if a coach takes his starters out of the game to keep from running up the score, the other team should also be good sportsmen and allow all their players on the field to get some game time as well. I'm sure all of the starters left playing were not seniors. It was like a slap in the face of the VH Players who worked all year just to sit on the bench so the coach could show how selfish he is. I have to say, Coach Mance showed class Friday night under a lot of pressure from others.
