  1. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Bluefield score anyone?? [/ QUOTE ] Bluefield 20 Princeton 0 About 5-6 minutes left in the 4th quarter. As much as I like beating Graham, I have a lot of respect for them. Princeton? I just like beating the crap out of them. [/ QUOTE ] Bluefield and Graham have a friendly rivalry. There is realy no animosity other than about a week before the game. After the game, they go back to being friends. But Princeton is a different story. At no time do Bluefield and Princeton get along, in anything. It is truly a hate rivalry.
  2. [ QUOTE ] Bluefield 7 Princeton 0 Halftime Story of the game so far? Wasted opportunities and penalties for Bluefield. Should be at least 14-0, possibly even 21-0. Bluefield can move the ball, Princeton doesn't seem to be able to. Sounds like Princeton is running the spread, with 1 RB, 4 WR, and no tight end. [/ QUOTE ] yeah i have got several text messages about a couple dropped passes and missed opportunities!
  3. yeah i had found the link earlier.. but it just won't play on here.. i think it has something to do with the server i'm on.. but thanks for the help anyways!
  4. [ QUOTE ] Bluefield 7 Princeton 0 5:52 remaining in the 2nd quarter TD Jake Lilly from 3 yards out [/ QUOTE ] Thanks for the info.. I'm in huntington and can't get the game online. Keep me updated if you will!
  5. [ QUOTE ] I agree in that this team could be the best that Gilliard has had since he has been here but I don't think it was as good as the 95 and 96 or even the 1999 team for that fact. The 2003 team could also beat them. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think that they are better than the 1995 and 1996 but i do think they are better than the 1999 and the 2003 team definitely. But you have your opinion, and I have mine...
  6. [ QUOTE ] What makes you think this team was so great?? Yes they had a 3 star player and a few seniors. They also had no depth and a few players who are very raw. Their also is not a good big man on this team. [/ QUOTE ] This years team was one of the best Bluefield basketball teams since the 95 and 96 teams. Dexter Moore - 3 star recruit... everyone knows what he can do.. Kyle Hammond - played along with Dexter in AAU ball throughout the summer all over the country (Hammond only took a position in which Patterson and Early left when they went to a more elite team.) One of the most complete players in AA and maybe in the state. Ansel Ponder - Extremely atheletic, one of the most athletic in the state. Excellent footwork and knew how to play down low. He is probably the highest jumper since the 95 and 96 teams. An excellent defender down low and blocked many shots this year on defense. Shaun Brooks - is just a freak athlete. Not very sound fundamentally, but played like a Yubrenelle Isabelle and did what needed to be done. Chance Cottrell - one of the best role players to come through Bluefield High in a long time. He knew how to use his BIG BODY to box out and get rebounds. Justin Harris stepped in as a first year player and did an excellent job shooting the basketball. Turquan Casey came in every now and then and got some good minutes by playing tough defense. Freshman Craig Ponder came in and stole some minutes and did a very good job taking care of the basketball whenever Dexter needed a break. To say that this team wasn't deep is not far fetched, but this was by far the best and most complete basketball team that Gilliard has had in his tenure at BHS. This team had the possibility to be the best next to the 1995 and 1996 teams if "the cookie crumbled that way.."
  7. [ QUOTE ] Gillard has had talented teams since he has been at bluefield high. But do you honestly think one of bluefield highs admins will walk up to him and say "You know Ernie, you made it to the state championship game last season, and have made it upstate every season you've been here, but we have to let you go" [/ QUOTE ] No one on this board has ever questioned Ernie Gilliard and the type of person he is off the court... only what he does as a basketball coach. As for the administration's point of view, I very seriously doubt that they will say or do anything to Gilliard because they are content with competing in the state tournament. But I bet anything that if you ask the players they are not satisfied with just "getting there." Ask the seniors like Dexter Moore, Kyle Hammond, Chance Cottrell, and any other senior who has played for Bluefield if they are content with just getting to the state tournament. It is amazing that whenever Bluefield gets into the state tournament and no matter what "smart" strategy Gilliard decides to go with, they are always very much still in the game. If that does not tell you the kind of athletes Bluefield has, then I don't know what does.
  8. [ QUOTE ] It was our players to didnt do there part of the deal. Which is to make baskets and foul shots [/ QUOTE ] It is the coach's job to do what is right for the team and make the right decisions with gameplans. Every player from Bluefield had the definite athleticism edge over the Magnolia player. And this is not in any way a low blow to Magnolia... their coach realized that they weren't as athletic as Bluefield and he MADE ADJUSTMENTS, which is a strong sign of being a good coach.
  9. [ QUOTE ] Who else could we possibly get to coach then?, If not gillard? [/ QUOTE ] Hmm.. I don't know?? Maybe the JV coaches Tony Webster or Willy Ellison. Have you ever wondered why the JV team always has a great record and hardly ever loses, and then when they get to varsity ball they don't really make any noise?
  10. If Bluefield High School is content with winning the section and region and every year (a VERY weak section and region might I add), only to make a quick exit in Charleston, then Coach Gilliard is the man for the job.
  11. [ QUOTE ] We will see what happened when somebody puts the video on youtube. Trust me, it shouldnt be to much longer. I went to the maryland/wvu game this year and when i got home and checked youtube, there was allready game highlights on there..haha [/ QUOTE ] if you go to www.truthaboutduke.com there is already a video up! haha
  12. [ QUOTE ] No chokie no im kidding. that was clearly accidental.. [/ QUOTE ] it was clearly accidental.. and O.J. didn't get away with murder!
  13. [ QUOTE ] Rules are you kidding me? you thank that was on purpose? It clearly shows he was going to swat the ball, then he turned after the saw the ball go the other direction and accidentally caught him in the nose. If you think that was on purpose, perhaps you should consider "Homer therapy" [/ QUOTE ] are you serious?? only you and Mike Patrick think that it was "accidental".. and of course [censored] Vitale.
  14. It is very hard to learn fundamentals in rec league.. most of the time you get some little punk's dad who is the coach just so their kid, who probably isn't any good, will play the whole game.. while you sit on the bench watch your team lose!
  15. [ QUOTE ] Apprently JD dont have "MAD" skills to lose by 34 points. How many did he score? [/ QUOTE ] No one on Graham's team scored in double digits... so it looks like JD isnt the only one who doesn't have "mad" skills...
  16. [ QUOTE ] obviously you dont know basketball to well or you would know that less turnovers would keep the other team from scoring alot of "easy" baskets [/ QUOTE ] obviously you don't know the depths of reality if you think that you are even close to the caliber team that Bluefield is. Bluefield does play good defense, but that defense alone does not create 33 turnovers. You cannot call yourself a good basketball team if you turn the ball over as much as you all do. Baskets come "easy" when you play inferior competion. You foul because you cannot guard the other person. Graham had 28 fouls because they weren't as athletic as Bluefield and had to stop them somehow from scoring. Bluefield had less fouls because they played good defense and contained you all. Turnovers were not the only thing that beat you. Bluefield and their defense and YOUR mistakes beat you. Accept that.
  17. [ QUOTE ] yeah bluefield does have great players... and grahams not awful, we just couldnt match up on the boards with bluefield, not havin obie on the team hurts us in the post... not to mention our TURNOVERS cause PEOPLE WOULDNT PASS THE BALL TO BREAK THE FREAKIN PRESS... if you can show me different after our team watched the game tape today then ill shut up, but you cant cause i know what im talkin about and what i seen... if we pass through the press bluefield doesnt get all them steals and easy layups, which means we would get shots on the other end and the game woulda been within 20pts had that of happened, maybe even within 10... we had 33 turnovers all because people didnt want to make the extra pass for the shot, instead theyd like to dribble around and get it stolen............................................................................................................. even BluefieldRocks noticed that about the kid not passin cause he posted it first, i just agreed cause its true [/ QUOTE ] Let us look at things realistically for a second: First and foremost, #32 was not the only one on the court who turned the ball over. Yes, he did have alot of turnovers and did miss alot of shots, but you got beat by 34 points and one player does not cancel those out. Secondly, you act like that Bluefield played their best ball they could play. Although, they did play decently in the 2nd half, by no means was it "flawless". The first half was horrible for both teams. Thirdly, you act like if you would have broke the press Bluefield would not have stopped a shot or converted a turnover some other way, and you all would have scored everytime. Just face it, Bluefield is a better team than you all. They have a team full of athletes and you all were outmatched at every position on the court.
  18. [ QUOTE ] Does anyone have any ides what the starting lineup will be on Friday night? I imagine Dexter, Hammond, Ponder, and Brooks would be four of the five starters, but what about the fifth? Will Craig Ponder and Turquan Casey see time on the varsity squad? I've heard that the Ponder kid is quite a talent and COULD start at PG this season. [/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty sure that Turquan Casey will be running point, with Hammond and Moore on the wings.. and Cottrell and Ponder down low... or so I have heard.
  19. [ QUOTE ] i didnt say it did, but it still shows you what you have before the season... but of course your gonna think that you go to bluefield lol... i know ive played with them at the center, me and dustin go up there all the time and play with them and we hang with them pretty well so the game wont be 20pts, im not sayin were gonna beat them im just sayin its gonna be closer then people think cause nobody thinks graham has anything this year and there wrong, we have everyone comin back but rob, hoosier, and ronnie [/ QUOTE ] the game will be 20+.. easy.
  20. Bluefield will beat Graham this year by 20+ points...
  21. Kyle and Dexter were gone just about all summer playing AAU basketball all over the east coast.
  22. how bad will Graham lose to Bluefield this year in basketball?
  23. Graham and Bluefield both had pretty successful seasons in soccer this year. Who do you think would win if they got to play eachother like football, basketball, or baseball?
