Any update on the Giles game?

I'd like to see Honaker win every other game on their schedule this year....just NOT this one. It's a special night for Honaker....first game on their new turf field....and their "next door neighbors", Richlands, looking forward to the same "playground" next year. It should be a great atmosphere because of the friendly rivalry....but I'm picking the BLUES to win.

Hey B-Hokie....I'm in the N.Gwinnett H.S. area now....used to live in Collins Hill H.S. area. The almost new Mill Creek H.S. at Hamilton Mill, if, I remember correctly, will have over 4000 this year. (Sorry, I'm getting away from the original thread theme) Yes, it is astounding what we have around us....but, OUR HOME area doesn't have ALL the traffic we endure every day. I'm so GLAD I grew up in a rural area where simplicity is still to be desired and cherished, even,among us who have been surrounded by so much. Not trying to wax poetic....but all in the VA/WVA area of this board, appreciate the beauty you have and where you live. OH yeah.....GO Tornado...the reason I'm on this board.

Maybe I took the way it was stated "hope we can beat Honaker" in a different context. My take on it was "not sure if we can" with no other statement than he/she made. Now do we really know if we can beat Honaker....NO, but we have to BELIEVE we can....and OUR fans sure need to convey that kind of a message to our players. Nuff said.

Not taking anything away from Elswick, but, Fuller was leading rusher, ran for a TD, threw a TD, not earth shattering, but he did his part in his FIRST game as a "true" QB. GIVE ME (them) a break....let everyone grow into their roles...Mance knows what he's doing....if it's not working, he'll decide. I think the fans at the game should be more about vocally cheering the team ....instead of looking for spectacular plays every game. "Different year, different team, but, still a desire to win"....it's only one game folks....and WE WON.

Maybe even trying to (under the table, of course) absorb all the high schools into a consolidated County high school....what audacity.... and call it of all names, RICHLANDS County High School. Not only that ....possibly even absorbing Russell and Buchanan Counties. The nerve!!!!! MY POINT, to the above craziness, is "hearsay" is just that....it causes peoples mailboxes to fill up.

AGAIN, if you missed the point, D1 schools offer scholarships upon recommendations by their OWN not by any high school coach, staff or message board. Austin hasn't even played the first down of football of his senior year in HS... give him a break...let him enjoy it. I'm SHOCKED that anyone would think ANY D1 school would offer a "fullride" scholarship because they're related to a high school coach. Are YOU for real???? There have been many former outstanding VT football players....do you think all of their sons got offered??? My understanding is that Austin, also, has received another D1 offer....do YOU think the coach was also "hooked up" on this offer??? According to the BDT story, after VT's season was over and the coach,(Beamer), was viewing highlight tapes was when the offer was made....not in some conspiritorial way. I don't thing any D1 school throws out offers just because a young man's mother and step-father are graduates. It is beyond my understanding how someone's life could be so SOUR that they feel the need to spew such venom.

PEOPLE PLEEZZZZ!!!!! Remind me, is this Not the SWVA football site? OKAY.....let's be proud of ALL that every team has accomplished in the past and, hopefully, in the future. I know we're not ALL going to get together, hold hands and sing cumbia but you ALL represent SWVA....be PROUD of everyone's SUCCESS. I now live in a huge metro area and appreciate everyday I grew up in the SWVA area. Believe me when I say hardly ANY ONE has heard of the towns or our local high schools success. I can honestly say (though I'm a Tornado alum) I am PROUD when I read about each SWestern VA teams success and follow via the internet hoping for a championship when the schools are in any playoffs. Sure you're going to cheer for YOUR school and be proud but keep it in perspective in the grand scheme of things....build things up with support instead of tearing them down with useless words. Whether you realize it or not the world sees you as an area of people not teams of sports. Now BE PROUD of your team but be even PROUDER of your area.
